North Anna restart likely to take days, Richmond Times-Dispatch, August 25, 2011:

[…] Dan Stoddard, senior vice president of nuclear operations for Dominion […] added that the safety of the reactors was never in jeopardy. No release of radioactive material occurred beyond the minor releases associated with normal station operations, the company said. […]

    I CAN’T wait to see jdotg’s comment.
    Can you?

    • jdotg

Glad im tonites entertainment..I take it for the word that it is. “Associated with Normal operations.”
Stated this very thing last night in a comment. I assume, to me, that means no worse or different then when it was running before quake.

I understand a shill is someone who is compensated, i wish lol. Unfortunately, im just a college student who takes it as the truth.

Sorry if i am wrong, but im free to believe what id like. To be honest, i could care a less, the core isnt jeopardized nor will it be, and i doubt it poses a threat, your probably receiving more radiation from japan then north anna at this point.

(on another note, is enenews experiencing server issues, or is it my end?)

      • Sickputer

jditg typed these pixels of light; (on another note, is enenews experiencing server issues, or is it my end?)

SP; yes…it happens about 4 or 5 times a day…sometimes for hours about once a week. the admin doesn’t have the deep pockets to get a bigger account and enenews is very viral lately…lol

btw…ask your pop what he thinks of these swings in fuku1.1 reactor radiation levels

        http://atmc.jp/plant/rad/?n=1

it is going to be a wild missouri boat ride when that pendulum swings back up again…

        • jdotg

          Faulty gauge, right? lol

In all honesty its been discussed, we think Elvis (corium) has left the building. He hasn’t said to much on fuku though, other then his company has people there. And that its possibly breathing, reaching critically and then going sub critical, as it sloshes through ground water. we both know water is a very good moderator.

          • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Now we know where you are getting your information from: Elvis. Rather condescending and patronizing don’t you think?

      • Steven Steven

“the core isnt jeopardized nor will it be”

ahhh the confidence of youth. Let’s hope you’re right (they said this about Fukushima). A college student you say…. good luck to you. Don’t let them close your mind, maybe try to pry it open a little more.

Probably best leave this stuff to those better equipped to deal with hard reality shifts. There’s a world of pain in these events and you should be off enjoying yourself, not trying to get your head around a convoluted global catastrophe. Move along, nothing to see here.

        • jdotg

Rather be confident then deflated and paranoid. Ill probably continue to post and view the site as i see fit, but thanks for your suggestions. The community here isnt too friendly to hopefuls. Im pretty sure once fuku blew its lid, at the same point many of us had our attention directed towards it, knew that there were serious issues at the plant. Not to mention watching the waves smack into it, and having knowledge of the safety systems and them needing electricity in any capacity to operate.

But let us hope, that dominion and nrc inspections found no major issues, as they are reporting, as factual information.

Check me down for optimistic lol

          • I like to be optimistic and I usually am about most things.

But, after considering the multitudes of LIES and disinformation from the Nuclear Industry I would say that I am being ‘realistic’ in saying, “They got some kind of problem and they are not going to tell us the full story.”

Until the thing blows up in their face and even then they will say, “There’s nothing to be overly concerned about. Your acceptable risk is very low. The amounts are far below the allowable minimums. …and remember nobody died at Three Mile Island”

Hoping for the best. Good luck to us all.

          • Terranigma1 Terranigma1

Here are some hopeful ideas –

What about trees and specifically, leaves, genetically engineered to absorb radiation? Through some type of photosymthesis, the leaves would break down the isotopes into oxygen or another harmless or beneficial by product. Everything else seems to be genetically modified.

Large canisters or domes housing filters that absorb radiation outdoors? These canisters, similar in design to electrostatic air cleaners, but with HEPA and carbon inner filters, could be placed randomly outside in Japan or elsewhere. The inner filters would be periodically replaced.

These ideas may be totally implausible, but you can slways hope and dream.

          • Terranigma1 Terranigma1

            More ideas –

A habitat for housing like construction company building simple modular type homes for the displaced Japanese and those forced to evacuate. Each home would be built in a safe zone and comes complete with its own tent zippered HEPA covering.

Canopied covers that filter rainwater to gardens and plants.

          • Steven Steven

jdotg, nothing wrong with optimism provided it doesn’t take precedence over healthy scepticism, especially in the face of repeated abuses of trust. We really have been witness to one of the most outrageous examples of ongoing corporate and government dishonesty in history, and it isn’t over by a long chalk.

The regulars here are like a team, if you will, working a very serious problem with the clock ticking, each with his or her particular skillset. They must process and contend with the lies, the shills, the false flag conspiracies and the reality of events as best they can interpret them, which requires focus and confidence. This can be eroded by the continual interjections of those who think they know better, that the situation is merely a hiccup on the carefree road to nuclear proliferation.

Stay if you feel you must but know that at best most here will see you as someone who just hasn’t figured it out yet. Responses to your ‘glass half full’ commentary will likely range from disdain to outright fury.

The glass isn’t half full. There’s a hole in the bottom, it’s half empty and draining fast.

          • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

“defeated and paranoid”, ah yes, no invective here against anti-nuke supporters (tongue in cheek).

      • SteveMT

That was my comment last night. Who do you work for? Why do you seem to be an apologist for the nuclear industry, despite the history, of Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima?

      • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Who’s paying for your college education? Most Americans can’t afford college anymore. The tuition is just too expensive.

      • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Well, here’s one statement out of your mouth that’s true: “i could care a less”

      • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

You consider the discussion “entertainment”? “Glad im tonites entertainment..”

    • alasanon

FYI, I talked to the official that manages North Anna radiological measurements for the state HERE.

There were releases, but just as they have normally. For example, the nuclear plant at Surrey released 6 drops of Tritium caught in their water system and that plant was not shutdown or adversely affected by the earthquake epicenter.

Nuclear plants aren’t super benign. They do cause health issues. (See the German health study) I’m NOT an apologist. But, they are not finding elevated levels yet in our atmosphere, outside the norm, so far….
I am ordering my own equipment though. 😉

      • alasanon

Sorry, that’s “Surry” nuke plant. I’ve never been there–very rural. I do know a biologist who worked there briefly though! She said they had extensive safety requirements…

I think we should scrap all of these plants. They were planning to add another reactor at North Anna! :O

      • Pallas89juno Pallas89juno

Dear Alas: To rely on “officials”, however closely you are associated with and believe you know them, is usually not really using critical thinking skills unless the officials are whistle blowers. The nature of the industry is secrecy. It’s not prudent or logical to assume transparency from official sources at any level. The higher in the organization, the less likely any real or honest transparency for a variety of reasons. As an example, someone in the military, say an enlisted soldier, even someone with a lot of technical training, may think he/she has a lot of inside information, and in very rare cases might. However, chances are, they do not. There are realities of the culture within military and covert systems (including most corporate systems in the U.S. today, nuclear or not) and these are based in the non-transparency of: need-to-know, security clearances, and chain-of-command. The last, which I call COC(k) because it’s one of the three fundamental things about top-down controlled hierarchical systems which tends to screw everyone over.

        • Pallas89juno Pallas89juno

The self reinforcing aspect of the official higher in a system or “formerly” high in a system is that the culture here may have individuals that swim with more overall or big-picture information; but this is usually cancelled out by the clannishness of the community. This higher level individual in a power hierarchy will feel more privileged and as though he/she has more to lose. They especially don’t want to lose their access to their privileged class, as the inevitable outcome of honesty in a covert system, is 8-balling, firing, harrassment, demotion, or worse, personal violence perpetrated against such an individual.

        • Pallas89juno Pallas89juno

Dear Alas: I don’t think my 2nd and 3rd to last posts were for you. I sometimes lose track of who says what in these blogs, please forgive me.

      • Pallas89juno Pallas89juno

Dear Alas: I’m with you. I’ve got to figure out a Geiger Counter I can afford. I’m really tired on relying on 4 or 5 months of official sources released data on this event. I don’t think my personal efforts at measurement will contribute all that much; but the point is that I can at least see, maybe if the equipment really works, a tiny slice of the reality on my own terms.

  • Jebus Jebus

    Yes I will love this.
Does everyone see the shill flood for what it is?
We had Fuku. Deaths pixie dust is flowing all over the planet. We tell the truth where very few have. We dig up the facts that nuclear plants can and do experience earthquakes that exceed their design rating. God hands us more proof in the Virginia quake. Another Nuke plant experiences an earthquake exceeding it’s engineering design rating. Shill damage control. North Anna starts puffing deaths magic bubbles.
The solid fact is that these low bid 20+ year old nuclear plants are a mass murder waiting to happen and this planet is on the verge of experiencing a catastrophe that will make all the others look like a half hour in Pewee’s playhouse.
I’m thinkin that somebody somewhere made a few errors in judgement…

  • Here’s another interesting video retrospective I saw today.

VOICES from the Three Mile Island Nuclear Accident:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fmmdh8Xlbvg&NR=1

Astoundingly similar to what we are hearing today.

Voices towards the end state. At about 6:30.
“Conflicting statements. There’s been a severe problem getting information back.”
“Part of it’s a lack of credibility of what we’re being told… the confusion that’s coming forth… it’s inexcusable that we leave a private utility in full command of the situation…”

Sound familiar? Sort of eerie I’d say.

  • Sickputer

color me skeptical also…i see the same old pattern of carefully generated press releases we have seen before from the nrc…they know more, but use the trickle down…a dribble every now and then of the bad news.

since i am allowed to speculate…the plant has some serious strutural issues from the quake because the epicenter was so close. this may not be a life or death issue, but i doubt we will see them come back online soon. similar to ft calhoun…except it wasn’t flooding for this plant. the list of natural calamities that can blow a plant to hell just keep on piling up…don’t forget the near miss in alabama at browns ferry from tornados.

    • Terranigma1 Terranigma1

You have to wonder about structural damage. This quake caused a break in a water pipe at the Pentagon, but the nuclear plant is a lot closer to the epicenter.

  • mikael

    Jupp.
Its not what they say we dobdt, its just that we all know that for now we must rely on info from the corp. in charge.
    For now.

The first issue must suner or later emerge, and thats about the reality invoved in Nuklear ind.
To me its a insane way of boling water, and the rsisks involded, well, we have Fukoshima.
A onetimer, so what, its all we need. Just the one to realise the dangers. Fukoshima is one of the biggest plants in the world, and dwarfs Tjernobyl, we all know that.
To question Nuklear ind. is like cursing oin the church. We dont need them, thats the lie.
Nuk,ind was made in the early 80 to what it is to day. The marked was created by chopping down the Coal ind. And even wurse the Nuk.ind lies about their “ecological frendliness”.
We are witnesing and slowly the truth emerges.
We have a power suply situation that is totaly unnesesery and exstremly coustly, survives on heavy subsidies(aka.our money).
The solution is to stopp nukl.ind for now, simply the fact that the ind. have not been able to privide the world with alternatives.
    Like the Thorium reactor system.

The second issue is the lie about AGW(aka: global warming). That lie was instigated by the Nuk.ind and in corolation with a notion of eternal ecological “sustainable” energy suply, hyped by the so caled “green movments”.
It turns out that a lott of people actualy belive the Nukl.Ind descrition of realitys and solutions.
CO2 has, hav not, and will never influence global temp. That is now a fact. Infact(hehe) there is not a single fu… proff of global warming, nada.

As a short time solution, fire up the coal plant, restart the coal mines, and get the energy suply up and running, can be done on weeks. Abandon nuks for now until the Ind is capable to come up with new ways of boiling water. Or in the mean time also fockus on allternative enery suply, like geotermic.
A more eco friendly way of boiling water, the best so far.

All this AGW and their intermarrige with the eco waccos, have made it almoust imposible to point ot facts and make people realise we have been fooled. The Nukl.ind have showed us all that they are not thrusth wourty in any way.
The govs cower ups is made possible by the chear wealth and power the companys have.
Corruption helped the nukl.ind to take over the energy marked, and the same corruption is killing inocent children and adults in Nothern Japan. Its from now on its going to be ugly, that part has just begunn, dear nukl freinds.

    Go to Iceland and learn.
Its just some highligthed points, because the NUKl Ind. killed its self in Fukoshima, and I have no pity for them. They are right now, comiting chrimes against us all, against everything living on this planet, and sorry to say that for now, we only have this one.

  • Fall out man!

Good point regarding global warming Mikael. The unit at the heart of the scandal over emails from East Anglia University which showed academics lying to promote global warming was originally set up with DOE (nuke industry) money.

Those who need some kind of catastrophe on the horizon to make their bizarre politics and radical social changes palatable embrace any increase in C02 as a disaster. If man made global warming were true, then we would hear true arguments for it. But Al Gores video, while still promoted, has been exposed as a fraud. e.g., his graphs of CO2 vs temperature. Temperature leads C02 levels, not the other way around. When the earth heats up, C02 is less readily absorbed by the warmer water in the oceans, and levels of it rise in the atmosphere. The oceans are a giant sink for CO2. The earth has been much warmer in the past, and crops grew better. If the earth does heat up, food will be cheaper and more plentiful. e.g., Vikings grew crops in Greenland from 900 to 1100 AD. Currently its permafrost there. There has been recent confirmation from CERN as to what really does make earth heat and cool. The mechanism is now well known. It heats and cools with changes in the suns activity. When sun spots occur the suns magnetic field increases, protecting the earth from cosmic rays. Fewer cosmic rays mean fewer clouds in the upper atmosphere, and more sunlight reaching the surface, and more warmth. The mini ice age of the 16th century was associated with no sunspots for example. Cloud chambers at CERN recently confirmed this, but they were forbidden to comment on the implications of their findings.

    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/07/18/cern_cosmic_ray_gag/

The only thing that keeps the Nuke industry in the race now is the global warming lie. Anyone who buys into that is being inconsistent in their views if they oppose the nuke industry. Anyone who embraces global warming has already been beaten by the Nuke Industry.

The ultimate irony of course is that Krypton 85 releases from Nuke power plants really are significantly changing the atmosphere by lowering its conductivity (as previously posted on this site). What changes that will make to the weather is an unknown.

    • BreadAndButter BreadAndButter

      Fallout Man,
I think the existance of global warming (though we should call it “climate change”) has been widely known and proved for decades. I can not elaborate in length, but there are thousands of scientists worldwide who work on this issue.
I agree, there have been warmer and cooler periods over the times our planet exists, but the change we’re seeing now is happening very rapidly – too rapidly to be natural.
I am absolutely convinced that climate change exists and that it’s a man-made problem. We’re not talking about “the climate getting warmer so there will be cheaper food”.
We’re talking about more and more extreme weather conditions – extreme snowfall (Rockies!) which leads to droughts (Missouri!). Severe storms (Katrina!), the deserts becoming bigger and bigger – all of this will NOT lead us to more convenient production of food, but quite the contrary.
      I’m also anti-nuke, and I don’t see why I can’t be while I believe in climate change!

There are more ways to CO2- free energy than nuclear (which DOES produce lots of CO2, btw).

WE are responsable for the conditions we find our climate in – so we must act. How much energy do you consume in a year (kWh?) How much gas does your car need?

      • BreadAndButter BreadAndButter

ooops… didn’t mean “drought”, but quite the contrary!! No native speaker / writer after all..you know what I mean, though, I guess.

…ummm more manmade CO2, fewer plants for oxygen conversion, less oxygen in the air.
        ..the room got stuffier.
..all foreign chems in the atmosphere affects the delicate layering in the atmosphere…hole in ozone..etc…
        ..the room got hotter
Mother Earth tries to right the situation..extreme weather….

        @BreadAndButter:

“…there are thousands of scientists worldwide who work on this issue….”

So long as governments provide money for research, there will always be thousands of scientists worldwide who work on this, or any, issue.

At least that is my take on scientists with grants. It’s a living.

        • BreadAndButter BreadAndButter

NoPrevarication, sure. What I meant to be important is the results of this research. The result being that manmade climate change is a fact.

      • rachee

yes, climate change is happening but it is because we’ve been spraying the stratosphere with aerosols under the guise of “geoengineering”. NASA states persistant contrails have a net WARMING effect of the atmosphere. This has been ongoing for more than 10 years. Aluminum Oxide is uses to reflect the sun’s rays. (genius idea). It is a neurotoxin. (alzheimers/cognitive disease) has gone up 300% in the past 10 years. That is due to environmental changes, not due to an aging population. Aluminum is also an accelerant. (wildfires anyone?). Geoengineers admit Solar Radiation Management/Sun Screening technology. (spraying of aerosols by high flying jets)—can cause drought and flood in other areas.

Yes, climate change is happening; but we are causing it by our nationwide geoengineering experiments………and guess what now the north is melting and they want to explore minerals/gas/oil in the north! Great! We all win. (sarcasm). Bill Gates is the #1 donator to geoengineering—It makes sense, he needs minerals/oil/gas to continue his business.

Does this all make sense? Not long ago I believed Al Gore. Now I feel like a fool. I am sick of them spraying us in Kenosha, WI;;and all over. I am worried about the air we breathe. All the science/technology for geoengineering is in writing. NOAA has a geoengineering home page. If you dig, it’s not too hard to connect the dots.

“No release of radioactive material occurred beyond the minor releases associated with normal station operations, the company said.”

So, minor releases are part of the normal operation of the plant eh? Since when? Do the people living next door know they are being irradiated as part of ‘normal operations’? I doubt it…..
