But, earlier this year there was a tornado in Calif, and I had never heard of that before either.

We NEVER get quakes here in the VA. It was extremely weird…just like the tornadoes earlier this year…or the bad blizzard of Winter 2010.
It does fit Global Warming predictions…
There’s no new briefings posted on the North Anna nuclear power site. I really don’t like this. I’m glad I’m not really downwind and don’t drink the water here!
When everyone in the community makes jokes about the glowing fish in Lake Anna, you have to wonder!!

Actually, nothing to do with “global warming”…it is relaterd to the movement of the magnetic poles. They are slowly switching over time,and this causes really bad weather and possibly even earthquake severity to increase.

Oh, come on. That is sensationalistic fearmongering faux-reporting at its finest. A 5.9 is hardly a “huge” earthquake, and I daresay it hardly “ripped through” anything. I work on the 39th floor of an office building in Midtown Manhattan, and half my coworkers didn’t even know it happened.
I love this site, and all the information I get from it (and I send as many people here as I can), but let’s not get all Chicken Littley, now!

Yes, we felt it (some of us did, anyway), but it was very slight. It was more of a “wait…did you feel that? It wasn’t…wait, seriously? It was?” kind of thing.

Well it made the evening news here in Australia. Video of shaking with thousands of city workers moving into nearby parks, Washington monument cracked, cathedral steeples partly toppled. Cars crushed under piles of bricks and even a quick mention of multiple nuclear power plants in emergency shut down. I’d call that a fairly significant event, from under my tinfoil hat.
