Title: Italian photographer chronicles nuclear disasters
Source: Asahi Shimbun
Author: By HIDEHARU NISHI
Date: February 25, 2012
Italian photographer Pierpaolo Mittica['s ...] photo collection, “Chernobyl 20: The Hidden Legacy,” has been published in English, Spanish and Japanese.
Recently, Mittica has visited Fukushima twice. In one eerily silent town, he recalls that not a sound could be heard. A child’s doll was left on a chair in an empty house, and dead cows had been left to rot in their pens. [...]

Quote from WHOOPI's article post above,
"So there was a choice in a "worst-case scenario", evacuate Tokyo (which might have led to the collapse of the Japanese economy) or risk collateral damage among the populace. All of which raises a fundamental question — What gives unelected bureaucrats the right to decide what the public is told (or not told), particularly when issues of health are at stake?
Just as with the tale of the boy who cried wolf, many people in Japan no longer trust what they are told. It is now to the point where even if the truth is told, few believe it."
They would have us believe that this disaster ISN'T the worst case senario?

I wasn't real impressed by this article either. Enenewser's know the truth so whenever someone writes about Japan, we can dissect every single line. But it is a start. Part 2 coming Monday. Notice how writer is remaining ANONYMOUS/pseudonym. Cant say I blame him.

The sad state of intellectualism today. It is just like school where the nerds or smart people are constantly bullied for being intelligent by simple minded jocks. Now that is a gross exaggeration of stereotypes, but I am talking about America. lol
This his webpage I believe:

Or-well, I'm in awe at the ability to do that.
I wonder how many young people with this level of skill that could make our future world even greater are being snuffed out right now.

Me too James. How does or-well do that? and so well, quick, SPOT ON. Or-well needs a Blog where all these poems would be in one spot imo.

Hi you two. I worry sometimes that folks miss the "knives" because it's "just" rhyme. I almost didn't post this one, just started it for me really…"on topic" is sort of a challenge…
I fear the circumstantially-forced returnees will come to be not unlike those in what have become de facto "permanent" refugee camps elsewhere in the world, displaced from health and safety, if not "place".
And as always, the most innocent suffer…

I really wish you WOULD join HP or-well. So much of what you post would be a welcome addition. But…I understand. Many here feel it's fruitless posting there. I do too because for the most part, threads become DEAD after only a little while. No New Eyes reading articles and commenting. Like now, the "new" article seems dead already.
we'll see how it goes throughout the day.
NEW COMMENTS MEANS MORE BECOMING AWARE. Doesn't happen
long tho

Hi Whoopie. And All. Apart from some other issues, it's the juvenality of the comments format at HP that disgusts me.
I mean really, "fans", "super users", allowing commenters to moderate? Hey fanboyz an' grrlz…bullshit.
To withstand that – YOU ARE IRON ! And I love you for that.
Threads die here quickly too, but this site itself has a focus, so…
I am not present online anywhere else except as a news reader, VERY occassionaly a comments section lurker, and that's on less than a half-dozen sites.
You see, I don't want MORE reinforcement of the abysmal lack of awareness I already know exists all around me.
I know I'm "preaching to the choir" here, but we all need to remember the silent "congregation" of lurkers who visit here, whether regularly or even once.
That's why I wish it was more respectful, less inflammatory in terms of personal interaction.
Just don't tell or-well not be inflammatory, hehe…

As for me, or-well, I wish you'd repost your reincarnation poem periodically–it was extraordinary.
Found a new interview on Fuku today/ICTV*; I believe it would be a great intro for newbies in the dark on all this:

The Chernobyl Disaster: 25 Years Ago
Mar 23, 2011 | 59
Tweet
The 25th anniversary of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster is next month. On April 26, 1986, a series of explosions destroyed Chernobyl's reactor No. 4 station and several hundred staff and firefighters tackled a blaze that burned for 10 days and sent a plume of radiation around the world in the worst-ever civil nuclear disaster. More than 50 reactor and emergency workers were killed at the time. Assessing the larger impact on human health remains a difficult task, with estimates of related deaths from cancer ranging from 4,000 to over 200,000. The government of Ukraine indicated early this year that it will lift restrictions on tourism around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, formally opening the scene to visitors. It's expected, meanwhile, that a 20,000-ton steel case called the New Safe Confinement (NSC), designed as a permanent containment structure for the whole plant, will be completed in 2013. [39 photos]

Public Conference 7th March in the European Parliament.
One year after the disaster of Fukushima it is time to analyse its profound consequences, both, in Japan, but also in the rest of the world. With the help of experts from Japan we will assess the situation on site and in the region around the Fukushima reactors. This should help to understand the health consequences as well as the social effects the accident had on the people that are still living in the area and those that had to leave their homes.

That's the one, or-well! I have to confess I'm not sure I'm getting the full meaning of this line:
for beings possessed of
HUGE and multiple "bleep"!
If it's what I think I have a phrase to send you.
Thanks to all those who have welcomed me! I was doing deep research on DU when Fuku hit, and switched gears so as to warn everyone I could how to stay safe, including, Still Jill, the health food stores (so much ignorance even there).
The most heartbreaking photo I found in my earlier work was of the most severely deformed DU baby out of all the photos: it was barely recognizable as human, raw open red everywhere,, but it was sucking its thumb.
My work before the Depression hit was animal and nature therapy/equine-assisted activities for kids in need. So how to bear this????
The rage in or-well's poems and all the other posts here help to keep me going minute by minute.
BTW Whoopie, the link you sent for a DU site still takes you to democratic underground/DU in that meaning. Help!

openeye, the missing word rhymes with "tricks". You have two choices. Both refer to a component of male genitalia.

How's that for circumspect!
I do at least try to remember the sensitivities of the audience.
Mostly.
Except sometimes I don't.
Then I blame "or-well'.
I can't even look at those pictures anymore.
Too much sadness and rage.
Check back with you later…

Thanx or-well. I get it now–awesome.
The phrase I've been trying to find is Latin for dying during sexual intercourse–anyone know it? I can't find it online.
But of course dying would be too kind.
Sorry, Lord, there are just some things I find unforgivable.
I agree about the photos–I just can't make myself look at deformed horses, or any other animal victims.
Where I am the wildlife and local lifestock seem OK so far; I even had an elk doe visit one morning. I'm trying to savor this while it lasts.
BTW my one pet has a year's worth of pre-Fukushima dry catfood. One precaution I could afford at the time!
