Interview with Dr. Alex Rosen, pediatrician and IPPNW vice president, Nuclear Hotseat, July 22, 2014 (at 39:30 in): The UNSCEAR [United Nations Scientific Committee on the Effects of Atomic Radiation] report mentioned the collective dose estimates [due to Fukushima]… But they failed to actually say what this will mean for the people… UNSCEAR says that there will be a total collective dose of 48,000 person sieverts… the sum of all the individual doses of every person in Japan that is exposed to radioactivity due to Fukushima… If you take the risk factors that are internationally accepted, then this would lead to between 4,000-16,000 excess cases of cancer in Japan. Based on the underestimations that I just explained, the number would probably be much higher if you actually took the right data and the right assumption… You have 9,000, or a little more than 9,000, people who will die because of cancers related to the Fukushima nuclear accident. This is something you have to tell the people, this is something you have to admit – and say look, “This is a huge catastrophe and this is what this will lead to.” … They want to forget this ever happened. They want people to move on. They don’t want to admit this will have health effects in the coming decades. They don’t want to admit that people will be suffering from it. And by ‘they’ I mean the Japanese nuclear village, the politicians behind nuclear energy, the companies behind nuclear energy… All of them are trying to whitewash this catastrophe — and UNSCEAR is part of this movement, UNSCEAR is helping them. This is something we cannot accept as scientists and doctors — that a UN body is actually whitewashing this catastrophe. >> Full interview here

Interview with Dr. Rudi Nussbaum, Professor Emeritus of Physics at Portland State University, on the Hanford Thyroid Disease Study, TalkingStickTV, Published June 24, 2011 (at 10:00 in): You could call it brainwashing, basically, on a very sophisticated level… They market a point of view, and they couch it very, very cleverly in what sounds like scientific jargon. It’s an abuse of science, and scientific jargon, but nevertheless, you can tell the truth and still tell a lie. You can say, for instance — and this is what they did — “We know of no research that shows any relationship between having been exposed to radioiodine and a miscarriage. We know of no research.” That’s true — but it is an infamous lie… because they never looked whether there could be a relationship. They never did any study that would even come close to answering the question. So now you know what I mean by telling the truth, and at the same time telling an infamous and, really, a damaging lie… And that’s what happened in this field all along, and it still happens… You have to go in there and look at the numbers, and you find that their own data contradicts their public conclusion, and that to me is the lowest point of scientific unethical behavior… And they know it, they must know. If they don’t, then they’re really incompetent. >> Full interview here

Here are notes from nuclearhotseat's excellent interview with Alex Rosen:

          >> What did UNSCEAR base health effects from Fukushima on?

UNSCEAR took the Japanese Atomic Energy Association (JAEA) scientists’ estimates on radiation emissions, which are lower than estimates by neutral sources.

For example, the JAEA estimated Cesium137 released from Fukushima was 9Pbq whereas a Norwegian study estimated Cesium137 released was 37Pbg (4X what the Japanese Atom Energy Association estimated)

          >> UNSCEAR calculated internal radiation dose from food and drink by using one single source: the IAEA’s data base

The IAEA is a nuclear promoting agency. It was founded to promote civilian nuclear energy.

The IAEA’s data base has no way to check it for controls, and shows much lower numbers than even the Japanese government’s numbers.

The IAEA draws a picture that is much too optimistic.

Nowhere in UNSCEAR’s report does it say who, how, when, where food samples were taken and where data came from.

          >> Dose assessments of Fukushima workers cannot be relied upon

UNSCEAR based its numbers solely on TEPCO’s data

TEPCO is hiring subcontractors who hire subcontractors so it’s very difficult to make sure people adhere to safety standards and that workers are being properly measured.

            * IPPNW believes you can compare studies already done on plants and animals and deduce how it could affect humans.

            * For example, Tim Mousseau studied health effects on birds, etc. in Chernobyl and found several very meaningful health effects on fertility, mutations

            >> The UNSCEAR report did not take into account the effect of radiation on an embryo

            • Radiation has stochastic effects — that means it’s not about determining dose or a certain amount that’s harmful, it’s all about chances that you take. The more contact you have to radiation, the higher the chances you have of getting a disease or cancer.

            • People with lower immunity, children, and people who take certain medications have a much higher vulnerability towards radiation effects, and this is not taken into effect by UNSCEAR.

            • An unborn child is the most vulnerable to radioactivity. Even small amounts can increase chances of a child getting cancer by very substantial degrees. One single x-ray to the abdomen of a pregnant woman can increase the chance of the child getting cancer by 50%.

              >> UNSCEAR ignored Non-Cancer diseases and hereditary effects caused by radiation

              • Ionizing radiation not only causes cancer, but it causes glaucoma, cardiovascular diseases, psychological, neurological, endocrine diseases like thyroid, etc.

              • We know this from studies done on Chernobyl liquidators and the Hiroshima/Nagasaki studies.

But this knowledge was completely ignored by UNSCEAR

              >> UNSCEAR did misleading comparisons of nuclear fallout with background radiation

The Nuclear Industry will say, “Hey we’re just talking about an additional dose of 1 or 2 mSv of radiation per year, per person, so this can’t really be harmful because natural background radiation is already 1 to 2 mSv a year.

              That’s wrong.

Studies have repeatedly shown that in regions where radiation is higher, there is more cancer.

People who fly a lot get more cancers; people exposed to more radon get more cancers; people getting higher terrestrial rad exposure get more cancer

Correlation between the chance of getting cancer and radiation dose is linear

Linear without a threshold, so it goes down to zero.

Even small radiation doses lead to a measurable rise in the chance to develop cancer, and there is no threshold under which you can say everything is safe.

People have the right to live in an environment free of radioactive fallout.

                • There was complete and utter chaos in Japan after the meltdowns

                • People didn’t know where the radiation travelled to because plume maps were not revealed

                • Iodine131 was not distributed

                >> UNSCEAR failed to give conclusions from collective dose estimates

                • Using UNSCEAR’s numbers, Fukushima will lead to between 4,000 to 16,000 excess cases of cancer, of which 2,000 to 9,000 will be fatal.

                • IPPNW believes these numbers are based on underestimations so actual numbers would be much higher if they took the right data and right assumptions.

People in Japan are being encouraged to move back for economic reasons. The nuclear industry doesn’t want to admit this will cause health effects in the coming decades.

We have a decision of what path to be part of and fission is always stabilized by fusion so even in the infinite empirical chaos we can find resolution always in the ether where all memories stories ideas ideals.. etc etc. We can fight by simply not choosing to walk in this valley of death just to die but to live and to understand life as a gift. This process must be organic and simply not given any environmental forces by man for then the reasoning and understanding of why things happen would be questioned and we know that only humans kill humans. Anyone that has added to the valley of death will have their place one day in the universe I always wondered was it possible to live in the hearts of stars or the bellies of black holes? Life and death have their purpose but is never for any of us to say this is our purpose to give death to our children and to steal the gift that was given so freely. Nothing in this universe has ever given the authority to harm children. When the leaders of the world give the children no knowledge how can we ever blame them for what they have done? For is it not the leaders the of the world that should of taken care of their children like their own babes for their knowledge should of been shared like a father teaches his son/daughter the differences between love and lust and Creed of Greed and scarification of future which is in turn our now and our now is…

It strikes me as rather funny that some can blame psychological problems of others fixating on the event as cause of physical ailment, yet not recognize their own psychological problem in insisting on its prominence. The former can be fixed by mitigating the event with at least truth; the latter can't be fixed at all without recognition of the deep spiritual contradictions inherent in their schemes and/or faith that transcends most traditional personal religious formulas (with some exceptions). Does one have to really ask if that is 'intelligent'?

Who truly lies to themselves? Having the knowledge or even intuition of truth yet denying that to others shows the shallowness of their spirit. Mfx wouldn't give out such juicy info as per his opening posts
The most recent posts have been a little disappointing though. . If your thinking is so twisted to think it's Mfx u might need 2 take a gasp of fresh air and real life

retali8 i thinkyou need to read deeper into what the folks in this thread are saying about "chatterbots". It isn't mfx/socref per se, it is a bot that doesn't work very well in engaging anyone here. No, my thinking isn't twisted in that respect.

Has MBPH SAID anything? Don' you see more than one writing style?

Everyone say hello to ELIZA , a.k.a. MarineBiologistHealthPhysicists!

"Joseph Weizenbaum (8 January 1923 – 5 March 2008) was a German and American computer scientist and a professor emeritus at MIT.

In 1964 he took a position at MIT. In 1966, he published a comparatively simple program called ELIZA, named after the ingenue in George Bernard Shaw's Pygmalion, which performed natural language processing. [...] it was capable of engaging humans in a conversation which bore a striking resemblance to one with an empathic psychologist. Weizenbaum modeled its conversational style after Carl Rogers, who introduced the use of open-ended questions to encourage patients to communicate more effectively with therapists. The program applied pattern matching rules to statements to figure out its replies. (Programs like this are now called chatterbots.) [...] Weizenbaum was shocked that his program was taken seriously by many users, who would open their hearts to it. Famously, when observing his secretary using the software – who was aware that it was a simulation – she asked Weizenbaum: "would you mind leaving the room please?”.[4] He started to think philosophically about the implications of artificial intelligence and later became one of its leading critics.[5]"

      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Weizenbaum

I repeat one sentence: "Weizenbaum was shocked that his program was taken seriously by many users, who would open their hearts to it."

Thanks maxli, for this confirms my thoughts that it is snowing in August and the s_ _ _ is deep. This is better that P.T. Barnum who said "There's a sucker born every minute".

Dosdos said; "There is entropy and contropy. There is no creation or destruction, only transformation." You hit the nail on the head Dosdos. Energy is neither created or destroyed it is simply transformed. To break this down into Alpha and Omega is nothing more than playing with words that are illogical and nonsense.

Believe what you wish, as you should, but to give credit for what you know as the truth, knowledge, broken down into different words does not change the spots on the leopard and should not sway you.

        MarineBiologistHealthPhysicist; I have a simple question for you which from your vast experience and knowledge might sound foolish but the question is;
Radiation affects/effects to the cell members, of the nucleus and the cytoplasm independently have ratios wherein death is achieved to the cytoplasm before the nucleus expressed as in magnitude?

Radiation base source is Polonium needle: alpha particle range ~ 40μm.

        Humbly, I await your reply.

"Playing with words" is exactly what ELIZA and MarineBiologist… are doing. ELIZA is spewing out prepared words, text modules or entire sentences in random order, this way putting up a pseudo monologue. Now and then it is taking out single words out of the human interaction. For instance the human types a sentence containing the word "father". ELIZA replies: "Tell me about your father!" Many humans are fooled and think they are having a conversation and the machine understands what they are saying. MarineBiologist… is doing the same. You can look for yourself!

MarineBiologistHealthPhysicist; I've waited long enough for your reply, which I shall never get.

The answer to my question above is from MIT on DNA damage from radiation:

"1. Selectively irradiate the nucleus or the cytoplasm. Results show the nucleus to be more sensitive than the cytoplasm.
To kill a cell the dose to the nucleus is 100 times smaller than the dose to the cytoplasm.
Polonium needle: alpha particle range ~ 40μm."

Oh by the way, my mom said that I can't play with stupid people like you anymore, so I'm going to take my toys and go home to play in the snow you left behind. Thanks.

      Danger Kitty,
Yes, I have been reading the cacophany that is mbio-whatever-physicist.
I couldn't get through any of the "bots'" incomprehensible posts. They didn't have the superiority flavor of our other "Guest", and that old biting flair for evasion was missing. In place of it we found OT rambling, non-sensical, almost anti-nuke support language and outrage at nuk-power.
I guess the "chatter-bot" fooled me, but I didn't take "it" as being a pro-nuke entity on ANY level.

      Ok,
so if this new incarnation of purely electronic filth is an experiment in "psy-ops tech", and as stated above, "it" posts to confuse and disrupt, not to challenge/disprove, obfuscate or redirect. Then it seems TPTB have had very little to no success in disrupting or discrediting enenews. TPTB have switched their attack from fallible humans who have come here and utterly lost the war of words, and replaced them with "chatterbots" that are merely an incomprehensible annoyance.
Now i see the new troll incarnation with clarity, Thank you DangerKitty, maxli, codeshutdown, and others I have missed in their vetting of this "E-scum".
I would love to "play" with this "chatter-bot" in the OT non-nuk forum and attempt to influence what text it uses in its responses. Where does it pull its data from? Maybe the previous human trollers copied and pasted all of the enenews' reponses to the previous shills here, and used them in their "response database" for their unintelligible…

The video game would work like this – troll busting ( outing ) & troll jousting have different point systems.
The more you joust you earn points but you have to attack part of the troll that is fatal.
If you joust aimlessly even if you manage to avoid getting wounded you wear yourself out and start to lose points.
Also, if you don't troll-bust the site periodically you also start to lose points inexplicably.. you must act quick and out the troll otherwise no matter how well you fight the other trolls, your score dries up.

  • Just got this from Carlsbad Karl

    Good morning:

I’ve just been informed that the 8-7-14 WIPP town hall meeting has been cancelled due to the expected visit by DOE Secretary Moniz to WIPP and Carlsbad on 8-11-14. We understand that there is going to be a public component of Sec. Moniz’s planned visit, including some sort of planned web cast for outside viewing, but we do not have any of the specifics at this time. I will try to get you specifics as soon as they become available.

Our next regularly-scheduled WIPP town hall meeting will be on August 21.

Hey Stock, did you see DOE is trying to make the Hanford community allow DOE/EPA stoping clean up the groundwater contaminated by toxic chemicals? Too expensive??!! Will be okay in a few hundred years, not to worry. DOE has a public comment period..ENENEWers should YELL. I think this is what DOE will try to do a WIPP..let it 'naturally decontaminate..just a few hundred years."…..

Time for a marketing ploy…er propaganda…er marketing ploy (sometimes I just can't tell the difference). Things must be going the wrong way at WIPP to now have a one sided press event.

Smart call would be to stop storing any Pu underground and remove any questionable barrels then close the dump and open another one somewhere else if they are only going to be burying gloves and suits like originally intended.

Can you imagine sinking another shaft into an already radioactively contaminated salt cavern, shear genius.

The heirarchy of science. (Just to set the record straight.)

Scientists: those who try their very best to understand the universe and the way it works.

Engineers: the illegitimate children of science who learn just enough science to get society into trouble.

Science writers: those who, in ignorance of science, try to justify engineers to society.

Trolls and shills: those who don't understand science writers, but take their causes to heart.

    Hi all, missed you,
Just wanted to take a moment to thank our
new newser MBHP for making everything
perfectly clear. I do have trouble following
run on, stream of consciousness input.
    Kinda hypnotic.
Think I understood one byte, though. In his
Aug 1.12:46 pm post on the thread about
the Santa Cruz fish die off, MBHP wrote "….
    you
can feed radiation to plants and then the
plants to the meal worms and then brew the
frass to make an extremely abundant system
of microbes and organic elements we also
have been able to change the land
contamination from hazardous levels to less
    hazardous".
All clear to me now: that's whoremesis with
nowhere near enough lipstick on 'er.
I wouldn't click on any of your links.
What lies hidden behind your avatar this
time? Or is it in the text; just an atom of
malware per character? That why you post
    so much nonsense?
Thanks for your input, give my best to the

Yet another re post; slightly dated now, thanks to maxli:
    Regarding moldy MBHP:
Read his posts. They don't GO anywhere. No
new tools we can use. No there there. There.
This is by design. They are running NLP-
    Neuro-Linguistic Programming. It is a
    powerful psychotherapy technique based on
hypnosis or trance states. Popular also with
    MBA's AND salespeople! Apparently nuke
vacuum shredder salesmen like it too. Not
an expert but here's the steps:
    1) Babble a little till target stops actively
    comprehending. 2) Establish resonance—
    give target ambiguous feedback and
    reassurance: notice how MBHP echoed
signature phrases and concepts of regular
posters; for example it said something about
'sum of the parts' (Jebus). There are lots of
those. 3)Insert new concepts and ideas. NLP
can be very good in loving hands,
or a sadistic violation of spirit.
His links SEEM on point? So what? They
would have to. Building resonce and 'trust'. I
(and maybe Admin- see his comment after
the darkness lifted)- I think they might be
trying some hacking with the links. Wear a
    condom if you click.
Lastly, MBHP is a lame parody of Enenews,
    meant to demean. That's a non-starter.
Actually MBPH is what the troll would sound
like if he were anti-nuke. Just as useless to
us as he is to all things nuke….
    _——————+———————————————-
don't think MBPH is the only not here, either. Sorry to take up time and space. Out.

From National Laboratories to WIPP to the Tennessee Valley Authority to the closest reactor near you I think a number of people working in the nuclear sciences/military/industry believe in progress and that progress sometimes has some adverse effects but the benefit is worth the damage done. The human damage done by the nuclear industry is like collateral damage to them, regrettable but unavoidable when trying to reach their goals. It is probably much easier to operate in such a way when they believe their own propaganda about low-risk, no harm and risk ratios that are hard to humanize. When study results show low numbers or no studies are done at all to show any numbers. We are a strange species as most try NOT to kill themselves off.

    • Progress without heart, empathy or compassion is deadly, just like Zionism, or Hitler, or Corporatism.

Sympathy and empathy are two different things.

A sociopath can show sympathy for animals, plants or even insects, (saving a few at the shelter) but be perfectly ok with killing millions via invisible poisons…

Sympathy; Ummm, that sounds really bad.. so sorry.. Care for a sandwich?

Empathy; You hear the story of suffering, and feel THEIR PAIN, THEIR SUFFERING, and your heart wrenches.. You have no words, and tears can easily flow. Then you take action or speak out against what causes the pain and suffering.
