Physician: “There’s a slight swelling under his chin. He’s affected by radiation. That’s why he has dark circles under his eyes, pale face, and fatigue. Generally speaking I think he suffers from a weakened immune system. Your son, Ryota, gets ill easily. I think it would be better for him to move to a place where he can live a healthy life.”

Mother: My baby got hives that don’t go away and I’ve been a little worried. The doctor told me what I had vaguely suspected. That really helped me and strengthened my wish to move out of the prefecture.

HOST: When we asked viewers to report unusual changes in their health we received nearly 500 emails in a week. Torrential nosebleed. Continuing diarrhea. Irritation in the throat. Severe fatigue. … Not only children, but also quite a few people of wide range of ages are claiming similar symptoms.
At 10:30 in
HOST: I was sort of alarmed to see the reports of similar symptoms coming in everyday from 500 people.
GUEST, Mika Noro, President of NPO ‘The Bridge to Chernobyl’ which has helped to bring Chernobyl survivors to Japan: “These are the symptoms you frequently see among the Chernobyl children who live in contaminated areas. So it doesn’t surprise me.
I should not be surprising since such a huge amount of radiation fell down on us. …

If you’re unfamiliar with hot particles, a conservative estimate is that each one inhaled or ingested carries a 1/1000 chance of giving you cancer (well, some say it’s more like 1/100, but let’s ignore them for now). This same scientist indicated that the rate of hot particles breathed in by a person in Tokyo were ~10/day in April, ~5/day in Seattle. And here’s the x-ray proof of the babies.
Being conservative again, let’s assume only ~1 hot particle per day was breathed in, in Boston. Let’s assume that it was only for, oh, let’s say 3 weeks (even though some was found in May, but let’s pretend it wasn’t), and now they don’t get any (but they do still do. But let’s just say they never kick up any dust or eat anything or go out in the rain.)
Tokyo… 1/1000 X 10 = 1/100 chance per day, or 1% chance per day. After 3 weeks (21 days), you have a 21% chance of getting cancer from these hot particles, assuming you had a 0% chance before, and that none of the other radionuclides like iodine cause cancer (which they do.) So, that’s more than 1 out of 5 people eventually getting cancer in Tokyo at these highly conservative estimates.
In Seattle, it’s about half that. At these conservative estimates, one out of 10 people will get cancer from hot particles from Fukushima.
In Boston, it’s even less. It might be only 1/1000 chance per day. after 21 days, it’s only 2.1%. That’s one cancer in 50 people from hot particles. If each are only 1/1000 deadly. And no more fell. And you didn’t kick up any dust or go near anyone or anything that did. And you didn’t eat anything that was contaminated by them, or drink anything that was contaminated by them. And you’re immune to iodine and cesium and such.

Tacoma the risk factor follows a power curve not simple linear accumulation.
Risk = (1+N*1/1000)^D – 1 : where N is the number of particles/day and D is the number of days
Tokyo N=10, D=21 : Risk = 23.24%
Seattle N=5, D=21 : Risk = 11.04%
Boston N=1, D=21 : Risk = 2.12%

Interesting. But that makes no big difference. In Tokio it is 1 out of 4 instead 1 out of 5. But in Seattle and Boston it is just what he said – 1 out of 10 and one out of 50.

Japan Radiation ALERT- Fukushima Nuclear Reactors DEADLY Fallout PROVEN- Arnie Gundersen 11 1 2011
Oct. 31 2011- ALERT-Scientific evidence now PROVES radiation in Japan has been (and is) at deadly levels. Please see supporting document links below.
Ironically, on Oct. 27, 2011 Japanese parents STILL living with their CHILDREN in Fukushima prefecture who have ALL now absorbed 8 MONTHS of this deadly radiation spent the afternoon “debating” whether or not to evacuate…….
In addition to refusing to accept personal responsibility for evacuating their OWN kids (or themselves for that matter) –these citizens continue to subject their kids to deadly fallout each and every day —and waste their time (& their children’s lives) “trying to talk govt officials into issuing an evacuation order”……. (rest on youtube link page)

Thank you! Sending that to my wife.

I agree the parents should just grab the kids and run like hell, but for most folks that is easier said than done. I think that a major reason for trying to persuade the government to issue a formal evacuation order is that most families cannot move without money. They would basically lose their houses, jobs, and belongings with no help or compensation if they just evacuate on their own. An evacuation order would at least get these families some help and compensation for their ruined lives.

In my opinion, there might be times in life when “Playing the Blame Game” (rather than taking personal responsibility for one’s own actions) is an affordable luxury. When children are involved however ALL games stop (don’t they?) and personal responsibility for the health and safety of one’s OWN CHILDREN would be The Parent’s #1 Priority.
If the adults who have continued to live within Fukushima prefecture (or even Tokyo from the evidence presented above in this video & that’s been presented all around the world in a million languages for months and months now) –if these adult citizens wish to continue living in these areas -and reap the obvious consequences –that’s their decision and their priviledge I guess–
The children located in these areas should NOT have to endure the obvious consequences of their “parents” decisions however—there is no parent on earth who has the right to subject their children to these consequences. Period.
After 8 months (of doing nothing to protect their own children)…..we have parents blaming the govt…..their children are dying and their blaming…..
It’s like standing in the middle of a burning home (with your children all beside you of course)and blaming the firemen? Blaming the city officials where the…

Tacoma, this is the interesting yet disappointing social aspect of the disaster is the total disregard for what is happening.
Using your burning house analogy its more like a bunch of child like creatures, old and young alike sitting on the living room floor enthralled by the toys given to them even as the house burns down. But its a house where the fire and smoke are invisible and the painful burns come years later. Sure its easy to chastise foreigners with different social mores to us but despite our understanding of the disaster you and me both remain on the west coast. My reasons are very personal and so might be your own. Not so easy to walk away.

I hear you Mark! I’m feeling like a total hypocrite,….scolding Japan for inactivity!
I must look in the mirror.

Might I suggest those of you with printers,…start to assemble words of encouragement. I think I hear the Fatlady warming up her pipes.

Yes. We seem to be entering a more frightening phase (if that’s possible). The news is getting worse everyday as the reality of this tragedy becomes ever more apparent.

A report like this ought to dispel the myth that the only outcome of radiation exposure is cancer.
The reality is that the effect on the immune system causes all kinds of symptoms, now, not just 20 years from now.
Many of these symptoms overlap the effects of other conventional toxic chemicals. Fatigue, gastric disturbances, and sleep disorders are common with both radioactive and nonradioactive toxins. Also, arthritis-like symptoms of pain and stiffness and “fibro fog” impairment of concentration and memory are common.
Skin problems like lesions, rashes, itching are rampant.

Sleep disorders,….I have not slept in four nights. I cut back on coffee this week, from 2 cups, down to one. I am buying everything I can afford on my new ‘adrenal stress’ regimen.
My insomnia stated one week after the Gulf spill, by 4/27/2010, my sleep was over. I went from 7 hours a night, down to 90 minutes, 2 or 3 times a day. Doc’s gave me ambien, Kava Kava, melatonin, valerian root, lunesta, sleepy-time tea,….and I try to knock myself out with indica medical marijuana and edibles,…all to no avail.
We have a saying in AA,…”It’s a lot easier to STAY sober,…than it is to GET sober”. It is also a lot easier to protect your adrenal system, (Thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands), than to REPAIR them after the fact,….especially during a Nuclear Holocaust,….which, correct me IF I’m WRONG,…we’re smack dab in the middle of, Yes?

Hey Jill,
do you do any exercise? For me that helps a lot – 30 mins bicycle, or a brisk walk, or swimming…whatever gets the pulse a little “upbeat”. Best of all: turning the garden upside down.

Schedule yourself a busy list of things to do all night long. Create an expectation that you are not planning on sleeping but looking forward to doing specific things at certain times like at 11pm (write a paper letter to the Public Health Department requesting testing of soil and water for specific radio nucleides and cc the letter to the Governor’s Office…my mom used to work for one, they are mandated after 30 days to investigate what action the Public Health Dept took to test your soil/water), 12pm (make a 1lb gift box for the Mayor of Fukushima with tea, rice, noodles from USA, and a small letter encouraging him to stay strong and help his people relocate and enjoy this little gift that isn’t [as] contaminated), 1am (take a damp papertowel and wipe down a specific windowsill or top of a tv, bag it, and plan on sending it to Arnie’s associate that is testing for radiation), 2am (try doing something more boring, watch a youtube video on how to change your own air filter, create a resume, or migrate an informix database to MS SQL, etc)…etc.
Not planning to sleep and filling your time up with either boring things that would put a normal person to sleep…or interesting things you can look forward to may lesson the stress that the over arching desire of sleep imposes on us insomniacs. Expectation/Desire to sleep is like a monkey on my back. My son is autistic and doesn’t sleep at night…but sometimes he does…but I’m now conditioned to not sleep and the stress of wanting to sleep and expecting to sleep is the worst part.

Officerdave, excellent ideas (also for the daytime!)
Maybe your son needs a buddy to help him go to sleep?

Man, that’s the truth! Excellent truth there both of you!
If it weren’t for my dogs,….I’ll bet OD has a dog for his son, if he’s able to,..rent, or what.
I wonder if the children of Japan are becoming insomniacs too. Many of my friends are complaining of OFF THE CHARTS fatigue. I wonder if EXTRA sleepy-tired,…is the stage where the adrenals are just starting to be damaged. Once they’re depleted,….the insomnia starts,…will be my hunch. In Fact, my friends are sleeping more hours, longer,…and are slow to wake up. I’m a cat on a hot tin roof.
I am getting lavender oil, DHEA, ashwagndha, chyavanprash, Stinging nettle, Triphala, B5, Rhodiola Rosea, Cordyceps, EXTRA C w/bioflavinoids, Co-enzyme Q10, Magnesium Chelate, R-Lipoic acid, Vit E, Black cohoah, and Siberian Ginseng!

Thanks for the dog idea.
BTW, our 13yo daughter is having small, 3 times a day, nose bleeds, headache, little sleep. It could be low iron and will test for it tomorrow. However…you know what kind of worry I also am having about that.
And as for insomnia…I’m a gamer, so I can lookforward to playing a video game like Civilization Revolutions on my iPhone, watch some shows with my wife if she isn’t sleeping either…stuff you can’t normally do when you have 5 awake kids all day.

But good idea about the excercise, B&B. I’ll do some eleptical machine tonight. See, enenews addiction can be good for your health.

Sadly, No,…but I do mill grains by hand for about three hours, every four or five days. I also dance indoors for endorphins–thanks B&B–I know,…use it or loose it!
