Radiation-shielding sheets to be installed in Sept. at earliest, Kyodo, April 5, 2011 at 1:08 pm EDT:
A plan to cover damaged reactor buildings at the crisis-hit Fukushima nuclear plant with special sheets to halt radiation leakage cannot offer a quick remedy, as the sheeting will be installed in September at the earliest due to high-level radioactivity hampering work at the site, government sources said Tuesday. …
They said workers need to wait until radiation levels drop at the site, where hydrogen explosions have blown away the roofs and upper walls of three reactor buildings. …
Specialists in the government are planning to stem possible surges in radiation levels or further explosions in the reactor buildings to be wrapped by the sheets…

if they want to halt the leakage… entomb the friggin things already! Can we say planned genocide? the EPA raising “acceptable” radiation levels, ensuring everyone things are alright (but also saying there is no safe level – directly contradicting themselves)… end times are nigh, it’s only a matter of time.

I totally agree with JDP. Why does the EPA and the Japanese Govt. continue to lower the standards for what is considered “safe”. I live in Japan and am in the Military. I follow the modeling of the swaths of radiation coming out of mainland and hitting all the other parts of Japan. I tried warning my Chain of Command about the radiation Okinawa is currently getting hit with right now, but, since the site I referred to them to look up the info was not “an official government” site, they just played it off as if I was a loon. Didn’t the EPA also say it was safe to breathe the air in NYC right after 9/11 even though it had a bunch of asbestos and other toxic compounds in it?

It’s the calm before the storm (figuratively speaking…)
The sheeple are being told, herded, to believe there’s nothing to fear. then when mass cancer and radio-isotope disease begins it will be mass panic. Unless the gov’t begins quarantining entire populaces and censoring the media (more so than they already do).

Why not add blankets and lullabies? How well did stuffing pipes with old newspaper work? That huge load of Iodine they found at 7.5 million times working level means ongoing fission, if all fission was shut down, the amount would fall by the hour, not rise dramatically. The previous report was thousands of times over working levels, this latest one was MILLIONS of times.

I don’t think you can just cover them up like a cat turd. They are volitile and are still “reacting”, IN the need of continued cooling. It is a huge mess, and they have no resolve for any of it.
Did you take your KI today?

why bother taking KI? if the I-131 doesn’t get to you the strontium or cesium will… lol. Enjoy what time we have, tell those in your life how much you love them, and live it up. Prepare for the worst, but hope and pray for the best.

Your bigger concern will be inhaling or swallowing isotopes. Getting below ground level and protecting against external gamma sources is less important.
Don’t drink the rainwater. I mention this because many people in my offgrid community normally do drink rainwater. Thats probably the biggest risk in the Southwest because a single storm might fill a cistern and be consumed for months. Eating it is another problem, and the EPA is not going to protect the food supply, it would be wise to avoid dairy especially for young children. Otherwise stay inside when its at its worst, or at least keep from tracking it in on your clothes. It its really bad wear rain gear and a N95 dust mask.
