Police investigate death of Miss. state legislator

MENDENHALL, Miss. (AP) — Authorities say they are investigating the apparent suicide of a state legislator in Mississippi.

Simpson County Sheriff Kenneth Lewis tells WLOX (http://bit.ly/ZhXTa1 ) that Rep. Jessica Upshaw appeared to have shot herself in the head at a home in Mendenhall on Sunday. The town is about 30 miles southeast of Jackson, the state capital. She was 53.

"Suicided": Murder made to look like a suicide.

    Use it in a sentence:
State Rep. Jessica Upshaw may have been suicided because she would not go along with corrpt payout schemes.

Bad attempts to suicide someone when include inflicting multiple gun shots or stab wounds.

I hope the this will truly be investigated but who knows how high corruption may go there.

I wish there was a way to fix typos in posts. It's late, or should I say early, time for bed.

Yes, I am sure many people are suspicious of foul play. It has the look of a negotiation breakdown to me. Send in the next higher up person.

    • AFTERSHOCK AFTERSHOCK

almost sounds, enoughalready4,5 like a Vince Foster 'negotiation'…

Probably no one remembers Vince Foster, and his death (suicide??) under the Clinton Presidency. No leaking secret deals when you are 'eliminated.'

        • AFTERSHOCK AFTERSHOCK

not that it's a laughing matter, jec, but when you hear the details of his 'suicide', you can't help but plotz yourself…

Yet another example of the outrageous amount of violence, mureder, assasination that happens regularly in this country. If you go to the website VETERANS TODAY you will find some superbly written and referenced articles about the corruption and the dark underworld that exists in our nation. The critical issue for all o f us is that we will no longer be able to learn any pertinent facts about any of these types of situations through our main news outlets. We all saw what happened to the MSNBC executive when he reported honestly some months ago…….his children were murdered.
The United States has become every bit as corrupt as Russia, China, or any other nation on this planet. Why is it that the great majority of Americans are blind to this?
We will never likely know who killed this woman.
However, in the future, watch waht happens to anyone who steps out of line or opposes the regime in power.
We have lost our nation and this woman paid dearly.
Her death is not simply an example of state or local corruption. It is so much worse than that. To be honest, outspoken, to represent the people vs. big business or government pits that person in death's dorrway in the US today.
May her family find some comfort and support from those people who cared deeply for this woman's efforts.

you are correct, RichWHOO. VT is at the top of my list (with enenews of course) for cutting-edge reporting. And your words are well considered…thanks…

    • Veterans Today is pretty good, but it has a LOT of disinfo, like stuff on aliens and a disproportionate focus on Jewish elites (as if our 'Christian' elites would be 'nice' if not for the Jewish elites), and furthermore they don't really let regular people comment (my request for a user account was denied for no apparent reason). Strangely enough, when their articles end up on presstv.com (the English-language Iranian news site), comments on the articles won't work at all, as it seems that the comments from VT show up on presstv.com (or something like that).

I think that a better site for news of that nature is http://www.voltairenet.org/

i dont think it is suicide, as women dont tend to shoot their faces off, too messy
