Jiji Press, May 10, 2014: Environment Minister Nobuteru Ishihara has criticized a manga story for linking nosebleeds to exposure to radiation […] He underscored the importance of keeping unfounded rumors in check [and] that doctors with special knowledge have denied a causal relationship between exposure to radiation after the nuclear accident and nosebleeds.

Mainichi, May 10, 2014: Katsutaka Idogawa, 67, [Futaba’s] former mayor […] is featured in the popular comic series “Oishinbo.” […] Idogawa says his nose bleeds regularly and that there are many others in Fukushima who have developed similar symptoms. […] Idogawa told a news conference on May 9 in Tokyo […] his nose bleeds every day, especially in the mornings. “There is no way I would retract my comments in the manga,” Idogawa said. Responding to Environment Minister Nobuteru Ishihara […] Idogawa commented, “The minister has no business with my physical condition.”

Author Tetsu Kariya interview, translated by Toshi Nakamura, Jan. 13, 2014: […] after I got back [from Fukushima] and was having dinner, I suddenly started bleeding from my nose, and it wouldn’t stop. I thought, “what on Earth?” I’ve rarely ever had a nosebleed so it was quite a shock. After that, I had nosebleeds at night for days after. But when I went to the hospital, they said “there’s currently no medical connection between nosebleeds and radiation” and they severed a capillary in my nose membrane with a laser. Also, after I went, I felt a great deal of fatigue. The staff who went with me and the chief of Futaba-machi suffered from nosebleeds and fatigue. They say the radiation levels are low so there’s no harm, but I wonder about that.

Statement from Tetsu Kariya summarized by Yoshihiro Kaneda, May 7, 2014: It is possible that those who have supported me would walk away from me. I don’t understand why people criticize the truth which I have collected data in Fukushima 2 years and I write it as it is. Do people want to close my eyes against the truth and write something good lies for somebody or other? […] I can only write the truth. I hate self-deceiving. Today’s Japanese society is surrounded by the atmosphere of hating inconvenient truth and desiring lies of feeling good.

I love the position of the authorities when they say (paraphrasing here), "we don't know what's causing (fill in the blank), but we know it's not Fukushima radiation." Just about every news story published has some sort of hack comment like that. Funny how the kinds of issues didn't seem to be very prevelant pre-Fukushima. Could they at least try to lie a tiny bit more convincingly?

    • dosdos dosdos

"No, it can't be radiation from the nuclear accident, therefore we don't test for it."

    • OldFool

There are treatments for these symptoms of radiation induced bone marrow damage, even for exposures more than 400 REM, so denial of the truth is only denial of treatment, not an act of kindness to keep a merciful, blissful ignorance.

The Merck Manual even describes standardized treatments –

"Blood products should be transfused to treat anemia and thrombocytopenia, and hematopoietic growth factors (granulocyte colony-stimulating factor and granulocyte macrophage
colony-stimulating factor) and broad-spectrum antibiotics should be given to treat neutropenia and neutropenic fever, respectively…."

      • We Not They Finally

An article many months back on this website said that ALL the children tested in Tokyo ALREADY have neutropenia, which is a pre-cursor to leukemia.

They are killing their own kids and they seem to be just fine with that.

        No words for it.

    • Exactly, we deserve better.

At least we deserve better lies!

well, also, you must remember that CBS was owned by Westinghouse Electric until 2005 and GE ([widow] makers of the MACH 1 reactors) owns NBC. So, of course, their infotainment will color all.

But the truth will out in the end/

      • We Not They Finally

NBC? Isn't that the network that is currently on a campaign to broadcast the horrible dangers of "global warming"?

Why can't the Japanese just take their cue and blame constant severe nosebleeds on global warming? [extreme sarc]

And I admire your optimism, skizexq, but at this rate, the only truth that will "out" is dead bodies on the ground.

What do you think of Naohiro Masuda now heading FD management team? It's said he saved F Daini on 3/11/11. He's also reaching out internationally, has already formed alliances with the Sellafield group in England, and the AREVA group in France.

It will start to become news when too many events will happen at once and can't be ignored. It will continue to be ignored until high level officials have uncontrolled fatigue and nosebleeds – and it will happen. When the doctors become ill – and can't treat even a nose bleed – and it will happen. When people are too ill to man the stock exchange and make money – it will happen. When parents are too ill to drag their sick children to school – it will happen. When family pets start dying in record numbers – remember their nose is close to the ground – it will happen. When large numbers of people start going to the beach this summer and find that they have massive "sunburns" that develop a few days later – it will happen. When record numbers of sea life continue to wash up dead and dying – it will happen. When large numbers of people are being diagnosed with leukemia – it will happen. When a records number of babies are either still births or born with severe disabilities – it will happen. When women who are trying to conceive, can't – it will happen. And this is just in Japan. Now when all these things begin to happen on the West Coast of the US, Canada and Alaska as well- it will happen.

      correct, Daisy207…

      Yes! It will happen! 🙁

Daisy207, VERY well spoken. But that also assumes that things happen in some linear fashion. The danger of distractions, diversions, and even false flags goes UP from here on in.

I forgot to add – when peoples hair starts to get very thin and falls out – especially with the Hollywood types – then it will be real news.

  • Crickets Crickets

Oh yea, right. People get nosebleeds all the time. It's all safe, folks. Nothing to worry about. I can't believe this kind of "news" is being kept from the world and trivialized. It's time for these people to stop their lies. It's time for CNN, FAUX NEWS, NBC, ABC, CBS…and all the other so-called news reporting networks to do their jobs….and report the freakin' news!!!

    • Crickets Crickets

Tired of getting blank stares and yawns from sheeple when I express my concern. They remain clueless to the crimes these nuke whores have been committing, for lo these many years.

on many levels, Crickets, it's difficult – if not near impossible – for most people to process. Just put your frustration aside and be more patient. Eventually, the truth will out. The main issue then will be what to do. If what some suspect is true about the extent of the global population's exposure to hot particles, fatigue and nosebleeds will be the least of our worries…

      • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

It really is incredible what they have gotten away with for lo these many years.. 🙁

Yeah crickets, most people around me know I snoop about in areas where they are too incurious to tread so when I patiently lay it out they do look a bit haunted. What is heard cannot be unheard. But I read all of you Enenews posters intelligent comments and do my own research. So when I catch someone MOCKING a giver of Fukushima facts I slap them in the head with the data. Like a wet newspaper. It amuses me.

Reposting what I posted in the general discussion a few days back –

Another interesting thing about Mr. Kariya and his series 'Oishimbo' is that his comic book was specifically mentioned in a government memo that leaked ( which I saw in a Japanese link, and have lost it, will try to find ) touting manga as a effective propaganda tool to help ward off 'bad rumours about radiation fears.

'The internal memo mentioned Kariya's 'Oishimbo' series by name – something like 'it would be so awesome to have something like Mr. Kariya's 'Oishinbo' series, simplistic in style, that helps to educate the public about radiation'
LOL ….And then Kariya came and bit them in the AS*!!!!

The whole 'manga as effective propaganda tool' does support my suspicion that 'Ichiefu' ( that other manga that just came out about TEPCO workers at Daiichi ) was a government funded project..
I'm so annoyed I lost that link to the document sorry it's hearsay I'm sure I'll run into it again though

      • bo bo

Yeah… and I discussed this earlier too, but I have a crackpot personal theory about the whole 'nosebleed' being slang in Japan for 'excited' ( which the girl on YouTube refers to, as sole source of 'rumour')

That slang equating 'excitement' with 'nosebleed' is a fairly new development in the Japanese language – unknown before WW2…. then Hiroshima, Nagasaki…+ 800 H bombs exploded in atmospheric testing through 50s and 60s in the pacific ocean

Could it be that people, especially children in those decades after the war were suddenly prone to nosebleeds – just a slight hike in bloodpressure caused them to bleed – and that gave birth to this strange slang in Japan ?

    • We Not They Finally

bo, the government over there seems to call everything "rumors." Imagine what "real life" must be like. [extreme sarc]

We need to spread the word about Fuku radiation, make as many aware of it as possible & take measures to protect ourselves. I use Zeolites in my smoothies daily. Zeolites ionic charge trap/remove cesium 137. Additionally they help w viruses, heavy metals, alkalizing, cancer prevention. More info here:

P.S. I know your having a few problems with reactors at Fukushima, so I took the liberty of sending you a couple of tons of 'Organic Kitty Litter'… Apparently the people at WIPP swear by it. Not sure how it's supposed to work, but it has to be better than those daipers that you've been using.

  • MochiMadness

It's called thrombocytopenia, and it's caused all the time from radiation therapy and some chemotherapy agents. We damage the platelets in the blood and thereby inhibiting the blood's ability to clot.

This is bulls#it. Sorry, but this irritates me no end. This is common knowledge in my business, and these people KNOW IT. There is a direct causality between radiation and nosebleeds. Direct.

    • MochiMadness

Check their platelet levels. It's easy enough to do. You bleed out because your blood cannot clot—platelets are a critical component in clotting—and damage to these cells is a well known side effect of radiation therapy.

Good God does this make me angry.

    the Japanese are lying to protect GE, Tepco, and a hoped for nuclear future;

Thanks to our government nuclear sluts, there is no liability; it was given away to benefit this Frankenstein industry.

The nosebleeds are clearly related to radiation exposure.

What isn't clear is why all these doctors and politicians insist on this silly lie; like denying the Holocaust, No?

Maybe Josef Mengele was a sweetie, and it's all a lie that he conducted medical experiments on prisoners without anesthesia?

We are through the looking glass here.

Lying to protect the monster in the room: unnecessary and unwanted nuclear power – brought to you by the bankers at J.P Morgan and their henchmen at GE and Westinghouse.

The blatant lying and the cover up kind of creeps me out.

What a country? What a sad sequence of events? The only sane ones congregate here on enenews; for some truth and honesty, and some honest caring and sharing.

Some very capable folks here. Thanks to all on the 'newsers team.

Hang in there folks; the world needs our help like never before.

  • dosdos dosdos

I'm sorry, but the stick-their-head-in-the-sand, polite Japanese citizens who descend viciously on their neighbors at even the slightest mention of radiation, because it hurts their reputation, are the real ones to blame. A government can't put off a coverup of this magnitude without the support of at least some of its population.

Governments and the nuclear industry constantly lie, and we know it, and sometimes they get caught at it, and some of those even get punished. But it never happens if enough of the populace turns the other cheek.

They are the ones with blood on their noses, er, hands. I hope that they can live with the guilt.

    • bo bo

Dos dos… this is another crackpot theory of mine – and my view could be skewed from having all anti nuclear tweeters tweeting from Japan – but those people the mainstream media in Japan claims 'are upset over unfounded rumours' could be paid off shills and actors.

A few weeks ago I saw a gusher of a nosebleed in a child.

A day or so later, a grown man spouted a similar spray. And I am not talking about a trickle caused by picking one's nose, but a wholesale bleed-out for several minutes.

In the past three years I swear I have seen a definite uptick in the frequency of this.

When are the Japanese going to wake-up and deal with reality? Way too much fantastical bullshit of late.

Dr Keigo Endo (遠藤 啓吾) of Kyoto College of Medical Technology says, "it (nosebleed from low dose radiation) is scientifically impossible." (Japanese but you can use google translation)

Dr Keigo Endo is a good friend of Dr Shunichi Yamashita 山下 俊一 who has been promoting radiation exposure to children by saying it is not dangerous if you smile.

The two of them are listed here as a panel of the JP government Fukushima experts:

"Kyoto College of Medical Technology" is not a major school, most people never heard of. It was created by Shimazu Corporation ( that sells nuclear medicine equipment.

    • Myme

No respected medical doctor would declare diagnosis on a patient (Idogawa) whom he/she never examined themselves, as Dr. Keigo Endo is doing in the MSN JP news.

Endo does not disclose in the interview that he is hired by the industry that promotes the use of nuclear medicine, and the Japanese reporters are too incompetent to figure this out…

    • jec jec

Dr. Endo needs to read more than just the publications from Shimazu, and some in German/English/French, not just a few slanted Japanese articles. He is certainly NOT an expert and needs to apologize to all the citizens he is lying to. Bleeding is one effect of radiation exposure..didn't the lesson from Hiroshima get learned in Japan. Wait, Japan denied and ignored the health issues, just like they are doing for Fukushima radiation poison.

      • Myme

Interestingly, Japan used to be proud of its Hiroshima manga called "Barefoot Gen." An excellent anti-war manga depicting the aftermath of the A-bomb, it had quite realistic descriptions of radiation poisoning, including nose bleeding, hair loss, immunological responses, etc.

"Barefoot Gen" even made into a movie, and Japan, rightfully, wanted the whole world to know about what would happen to people exposed to radiation.

And now Japan is working so hard to kill the real voices of Fukushima radiation victims. Hypocrites, and criminal at the government level. Soooo sad.

Barefoot Gen has been battling increasing censorship lately – I grew up in an era when the manga was almost 'required reading list' but now suddenly banned from some schools after 2011

Most kids in Japan learned basics of radiation sickness including nosebleeds from this manga. I read this in second grade – left a huge impression on me.
