Radiation from Japan Found in Milk; U.S. Steps Up Monitoring, Bloomberg, March 30, 2011 at 6:04 pm EDT:
Radiation “far below” levels that pose a risk to humans was found in milk from Spokane, Washington, a first sign Japan’s nuclear accident is affecting the U.S. food supply, the Obama administration said today.
The U.S. is stepping up nationwide monitoring of radiation in milk, rain and drinking water, the Environmental Protection Agency and Food and Drug Administration said in a joint e-mailed statement. …

Oh that’s just fucking wonderful.. Bit by bit, piece by piece, they carefully reveal tiny pieces of information until we accept it as the norm..
This is disgusting, we desperately need some independent reporters to get some numbers for those of us who are concerned.
All I keep hearing is “at levels far below the levels that would pose a risk to humans”.. Well, my friends, there is no safe amount of radiation.. Furthermore, there is not a single statement or reassurance from your government or any government entity that can be trusted.
Whatever the government and its agencies tell you, you can bet that the truth is the complete opposite..

It may be above the “safe limit” now. But that’s no problem. They can change adjust the limit upward and everything will be OK again.

Ditto. I”ve been watching this game and trying to warn people of the EPA chess game of raising the bar that is about to occur. These fools are going to make sure that humanity is stunted out of existence before its all over. At http://www.stretchingminds.wordpress.com I have been working over time pumping out the facts.

I recall in the 60′s when I was a child the warnings of fallout from Russian or Chinese nuclear bomb testing. Avoid milk and don’t spend too much time outside were recommended as I recall. Maybe should have fought fire with fire and just drop a nuke on the power plants, at least all the crap would have been thrown way way up into the stratosphere and there would be no more “leaks” from the reactors.

Level of radiation found in this milk was 0.8 pCi/L of iodine-131. To compare, after the three mile island incident milk obtained from that area tested 20 pCi/L. The federal drinking water standard for Iodine-131 is three pCi/L. Here is one site that links to private (non-gov) radiation monitors around the US.

And to the person wanting to nuke the plant just remember, what goes up will come down.

That’s right. I think that’s the thing they feared most – ejection of matter to high altitudes where the Jet Stream would carry it further abroad.

The radiation levels in the building exceed expected levels reaching as high as 700 millisieverts per hour.
A level of radiation at 500 millisieverts per hour may cause cancer, while an acute radiation sickness begins with a dose of 1 sievert and chronic radiation sickness – from 1.5 sievert.
