Was Chernobyl really worse than Fukushima?, Christian Science Monitor, April 26, 2011:
[...] The Chernobyl accident was simpler in that only one reactor unit was involved, however. The Fukushima Daiichi plant is the site of six reactors, with at least four suffering damage of some sort. Spent-fuel pools at Fukushima also experienced loss of coolant.
But Chernobyl’s release of radiation was far worse than Fukushima’s, according to the Japanese government. [...]
However, some European experts claim that Fukushima’s release of certain radioactive isotopes is within range of Chernobyl’s. Fukushima has emitted amounts of cesium 137 and iodine 131 that are close to those that escaped from Chernobyl’s burning core, according to estimates from Austria’s national weather service. [...]

“It is clear that the two cases are different in nature.”

Wow, cut the harsh sarcasm, Caveat Emptor. You’re beginning to sound like one of those pariahs that DID’NT vote for Hope and Change.

You lost the right to vote in 2002 with the Help America Vote Act. The vote has never been strong in the U.S. with winner, money and usually majority take all. Change does not come from the top of a system designed to protect the corrupt, it comes from citizens and NOT through voting, but through living revolution daily. There is evidence that Obama joined the CIA during college. Obama’s voting record during his brief tenure as Senator found here: thomas.loc.gov is entirely pro-corporate power over policy (the core definition of fascism), entirely pro-military and covert (other definitions of fascism, minus ONE vote against torture). All his actions as president, with minor glossing over sorts of exceptions, have been to expand fascist policies of the GW, also marionette, regime.

Japan appears not to have the resources in knowledge, military personal, and supplies needed to counter this nuclear situation.
It comes down to either they can not or will not!
Now who will and when?
The more desperate this situation becomes, the more desperate the responce will be from outside sources.

Perhaps this really means: close to Chernobyl OVER AUSTRIA. Much higher elsewhere.

Is Russia doing anything to help Japan? I would believe that Russia has the most experience and know-how to do so.
