Japan nuclear watchdog: radiation may be leaking continuously into sea, Reuters, March 30, 2011 at 11:06 pm EDT:

… “That is a possibility,” Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency Deputy Director-General Hidehiko Nishiyama told a news conference when asked if there was continuous contamination of the sea.

He added that regulators and engineers did not know where the leaks may be. …

    The spent uranium rods were blown sky high in reactor 3 and deposited in the ocean which is adjacent to the reactors. Probably hundreds of them are sitting on the bottom.
