Most of us already know what's 'wrong'. We're killing ourselves. The worst bit is: we don't have to kill ourselves.

Two years. Just enough time for most people in Japan and the rest of the Northern Hemisphere to be dead or violently sick, too sick to do anything about it.
That data could be available within a few weeks if they wanted it to be.
And in two years, maybe it'll all disappear. No reason to get the Southern Hemisphere any madder than they will be.

Agree with Pu239, the US was monitoring the radiation amounts and they know that we are facing an extinction situation from Japan, our own aged and poorly maintained nuclear power plants, and all the sneaky places that have been used to store nuclear waste. However, the government knew that to evacuate the base of families would cause too many questions, to be transparent with the people in our nation about the serious situation would cause panic and so the global community has been kept innocent of the dangers. Besides, the nuclear energy corporations needed to continue providing energy. So, we have been paying our utility bills to corporations who have known that we are at great risk of illness and death.
The state if Louisiana and its DNR, knew for a year about the dome collapse at Bayou Corne and pled ignorance to the residents about why the ground was bubbling, placating them by assuring them that there was nothing harmful. The salt cavern had nuclear waste with other toxins stored, it has leaked into the private wells and the Mississippi aquifer which serves @70,000 people. Today, we learned that there are now seven salt caverns that face dome collapse.
Neither the Fukushima nuclear plant nor the Bayou Corne dome collapse has a resolution. The leaders in government and corporations are careful not to take responsibility for the misery and the sacrifice that the world faces.
