Tritium levels spike at stricken Fukushima nuclear plant

[…] 64,000 becquerels per liter on Tuesday from 4,200 becquerels/liter at the same location on Sunday. […]

A Tepco representative told reporters on Wednesday [it] could not rule out the possibility that last month’s leak had contaminated the groundwater. […]

[This] threatens to scuttle Tepco’s plans to build a bypass to route groundwater away from the plant and release it into the Pacific […]

Tepco Vice President Zengo Aizawa stressed the importance of the bypass on Wednesday […]

I think we all know how this is gonna turn out. Scary.

I agree Lion76 , either they will do nothing but blink like a chickenless head , figuring out the next lie to postpone the moment they have to say

Hi World , we , industrial pathocrats of the human race , have probably fubared the globe , but accept our PC-acted would-be sorryness , we would be sorry , if we knew how …

untill the whole mess sinks in the ocean unprepared/unplugged , or untill they can no longer acces the site and have to violently make it sink..again unplugged..

There is no way to clean this up without taking drastic measures, like the one suggested by Christopher Busby. He proposes using high explosives to blast the reactors into the harbor.

As insane as that sounds, it makes sense to me because there's no other solution. Place high explosives underground (Use a nuke if need be) and blast everything into the nearby ocean. Hopefully you get the underground coriums to go out there as well. If not, the ocean still comes in to fill in the area blasted away and you can drill for them in the future.

Then you use the ocean water as shielding and mechanically pick up whatever corium or fuel rod material you find.

If anyone has a better suggestion I'd like to hear it.

This must be their way of telling the world that Fukushima is unfixable. If there are criticalities underground (who knows how far and how much) then the whole thing may blow(hydrovolcanic?) at any time.

And, rad levels are increasing to the point of evacuating the site.

If, they had produced reliable data, then perhaps something more could have been done.

    Got to save that face..;-(

    Olympics my ass…

    • We Not They Finally

Now (even though it is through their own callous criminality) they are locked into NOT telling the world that it's unfixable. If it's unfixable (and OF COURSE it's unfixable!,) then why would they be bringing the world's athletes there to their death??

Unless they watn to say that an unfixable, monstrously escalating nuclear disaster two hours north of Tokyo is just "fine"? Oh, and ignore those thousands of dead and dying children. They're just a distraction from the relay race.

So today the MSM is focused on Syria and, 9/11…

…What about 3/11, which, is ongoing.

    Just askin'

We should ALL be aware and preparing for the 'highly probable' and in my opinion, inevitable long/short range outcomes from Fukushima right NOW!
      (yesterday)

Not being AWARE NOW will cause greater disruption/panic when the 'psychological moment of impact' occurs for the masses.
      (again, just my opinion)

Amen ChasAha! It is all I do these days and it requires a certain bravery and discipline to maintain. That you acknowledge it is a strength and breakthrough. I feel my stranger life experiences sewn together paint exactly the message you convey. It is all about not being consumed with fear and angers. The sheer reality FUKU presents can catch any of us like a deer in a headlight.

THAT is the real hell in life.

The tank area is at a higher elevation than the plants, so doing a bypass inland of the tank area will be harder.

Preventing the upland water from flowing under the whole complex justifies an earth-moving project on the scale of dam building, such as when they divert rivers; a really BIG gash.

    Too bad for the landscape.

But we know it is do-able because it's been done many times; no new tech needed. And when done, it's done; no interruptable power supply need be maintained.

I have serious doubts about the ground freezing working on the upland side. It may be a temporary stop on the ocean side for the pumping water and basement(s) water, or not, but clearly the whole tank farm has to be considered as part of the contaminated zone that has to be isolated.

The international community had better get ocean going research vessels int areas near Japan testing the radiation levels in the ocean waters..and NOT the 20KM distance..close in..and farther out..Wonder if Greenpeace is going to get involved. Radiation dumping into the ocean will do more than just kill whales, it will wipe out total species….like humans.

Note to self, the Mar 20, 2011 leaked US Navy comments –the 'thyroid dose' (really higher) than 1.5 mSv/hr…was reached..at 126E and 36 N..thats more like a location around the Korean Pennisula. Just Saying..if those comments are correct..there was a HECK of a release of I-131 and all the other goodies for that level to be reached that far from Japan..

    South of Tokyo, right (sarcasm).

We need a worldwide consortium made up of experts in the field to start brainstorming solutions to what is happening in Fukushima and what can be done to FIX it. We need them NOW. Each country will also need to commit funds to this effort, since it is and will continue to affect the entire planet. The consequences could be the extinction of all life on earth. It is past time to do this. Japan is calling for help and they can not handle it alone.
