Nov. 4 — “In Totsuka, Maioka park, Yokohama, which is about 250km away from Fukushima (7km away from my home), they announced that the chinese mushroom harvested in late March had 2,770 Bq/kg of cesium,” reports Mochizuki, “Nowhere is safe.”
The mushrooms “were already served to 794 volunteer park keepers who ate it,” according to the report, “258 of them were younger than 12 years old.”
955 Bq/kg of cesium was detected in mushrooms picked in the area during mid-October.

Mushrooms should be tested throughout Japan to see how far the contamination has spread. It sounds like these mushrooms were grown outdoors because it mentions park volunteers.

Mushroom are really funny, they love Radiation a lot and even the Greenhouse Fungi are saturated it by Nuclear Products!
There are already a few Articles about this Topic,
just look for it:
“shitake radiation japan”

That’s not going to go well for those kids. The exposure level is quite high for a child to intake. their heart muscles will be shredded by the concentration levels. They can’t keep eating levels of cesium at this level for a prolonged period of time without MASSIVE risk of death.

If this is how the “smartest” people that live in the most advanced country in the world are treated during a nuclear meltdown then the rest of us are totally and completely F-D!!! Japan should be setting the example of what to do, instead they are a bunch of TOOLS eating the radiation.
Report Comment
Not smartest, not advanced, just hard working and focused, well, up to earlier this year, that is.

For the sheeple:
“Western “civilization” is totally corrupted by American money. There is no integrity anywhere. For a decade Washington has been murdering women, children, village elders, and journalists in the name of the hoax “war on terror.”
“What terror does the world actually see? The world sees the terror that Israel, protected by Washington, inflicts on the Palestinians. The world sees the terror that the US inflicts on Serbia, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen, Somalia, Libya, Latin America and now Africa, with Syria, Lebanon, and Iran waiting in the wings. The “war on terror” is nothing but an orchestrated invented excuse for Amerika-Israel to achieve hegemony while enriching their armaments industries.”

And those armaments industries? Nuclear.

The Japanese Gov. stated that they were going to change the laws on the allowed radioactive stuff in the food, to 100 becquerels per kilogram, because it was only safe to eat 500 becquerels of cesium for 1 year, this is why they were going to reduce the amounts allowed..
The people who ingested those muchrooms , probably will have health effects from that high of a dosage, as one must expect , this was not the only contaminated food they had taken in….

The five stages of grief – I believe nations go through them as well as individuals
Denial – Japan’s current stage. It will last another year at most… I hope.
Anger – I don’t know when, but this stage will come. And it won’t be pretty. No more peaceful, oh so Japanese demonstrations – real, widespread violence in the streets
Bargaining – Japan will finally begin to plead for help. They should be asking now and the nations of the world (who should NOT see themselves as unaffected by this) should be offering now
Depression – I don’t even want to go here on a national level. A great nation in wrenching pain
Acceptance – What percentage of Japan will be left at this final stage? It will only be at this stage when the Japanese people will finally be ready to evacuate their island nation for good
Our brothers and sisters in Japan are going through a living hell. I’m wondering when the world will catch on to this. My guess is stage three

Historically, Japanese people have a very different viewpoint of dealing with things than the “standard” westernised view. So radically different, and with a history that is so conservative and which values adherence to tradition, it is very difficult to see things from the same viewpoint. I agree they should be doing things, but when there’s face to be saved (mainly, unfortunately, that of the Government/Tepco whatever) then that will come long before any pleading for anything.
As to the acceptance stage, as has been said here before, who is going to show altruism homing a population of “radiation-affected-persons”?
Report Comment
@Stephengn I think Japans denial will end with the first Spring rains. If they don’t endure hot snow first.
It’s going to be intense watching America get angry. We freak out over lifestyle loss like no other country in the world.

top marks steven a conversation about the sociological impacts of the disaster and the psychological effects on the population both as individuals and as a group! which begs the question
where are these emenant psychological and sociological proffesors when the phycisist/doublespeak psychologist media personalities are spouting spurious theories regrding this very issue????…. makes you think doesnt it?
err back to the conversation..ahem!
if i was a suspicious mind i would connect the psychology field with the nuclear field via the (psycho torture) military who have “psychologist torturers” and nuclear stuff… but it might be a bit tenuous and i dont want admin in guantonimo for “re-education, i like him/her where he/she is with existing education!!
“Bargaining – Japan will finally begin to plead for help. They should be asking now and the nations of the world (who should NOT see themselves as unaffected by this) should be offering now”
i would say that the international agency that is in charge is the IAEA and the “nations of the world” that japan is likely to ask (in the above hypthesis) are all the nations that are a part of … the IAEA. ??? see the problem there? moving swiftly on…
anger (there are many ways to express this and i have seen quite a few variations of this over the last 5 months) as a group i think overspilling anger to the point of revolution is not likely with some of the most spiritual and humanely focused people you are ever likely to meet…once these people get a political foothold with local action groups co-ordinated and supporting media the IAEA/corporate influence in japan will diminish…and be put in its place! personally the iaea should be shut down and replaced
depression (all too much of that, for some reason the japanese farmers come to mind here… all the hardship and pain they must be suffering so i could add despair to your list too unfortunately!)…
my prayers go to all in…
