Title: Japanese Magazine “Sensationalizes”: “Thyroid Cancer Suspected on Two Children Aged 4 and 7”
Source: EX-SKF
Date: Feb 23, 2012

“Serious abnormalities found in 11 evacuees from Fukushima Prefecture”

  • 7-year old girl had 8 millimeter nodule on her thyroid [Blood tests determined ‘benign’]
  • Her 2-year-old sister also had 2 millimeter nodule
  • Doctor who examined them said “I’ve never seen anything like this”
  • 2 children and 9 adults were tested in Sapporo, and thyroid cancer was suspected
  • Adult woman has been confirmed to have thyroid cancer
  • Japanese researchers [say] “it is impossible for children under the age of 6 to have nodules 5 millimeters or larger”
  • But the doctor who examined them in Sapporo, Hokkaido says, “Whatever they say, this is the result”
  • In the case of Chernobyl, it took 4 years till the cases of thyroid cancer started to appear. The doctor in Sapporo is shocked by the quick onset

Kouta Kinoshita’s blog translation and comments by EX-SKF

He and several others had known about it, and were trying to find a better way to disclose the information with the agreement of all the parties involved (parents, for one). He seems rather upset with the reporter. He also quotes an expert of the Chernobyl accident he consults with: “At this stage, you can’t tell whether it is a malignant tumor. I personally think the Bunshun article went overboard. What’s known now is that they have some tumor of unknown nature. The growth is rapid, and no doubt it is a health damage from radioactive materials. I think it can be categorized as damage caused by radiation, even if the growth is benign, because before March 11 [accident], such growth was impossible in children.”

My theory is the extreme speed of the illness development progression is likely relative to the degree of contamination present. In other words, Japan is extremely contaminated. Perhaps other radiation illnesses will also be accelerated which will actually allow us to demonstrate the relationship of these occurrences to the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster where it is rightfully due. For me, this would be an important positive direction this could take.

Good Morning B&B, hope you are well. I think you stated you lived in Hawaii. If not I hope you are well wherever you are.
Something I'd like to say this morning is that I've been researching a little about Japan's history concerning Tsunamis. What I found is that they are good for a catastrophic type Tsunami on average of about every 65yrs. Some years they have had as many as 3 over a 100yr period then there are times when only one will occur over a 100yr period. Dating back to the earliest historical account which I think I read was in 550 something they have had a catastrophic Tsunami every century. Many of these Tsunamis killed tens of thousands of people at a time. Only a couple times there were either no deaths reported or very few.
I just do not understand with knowledge of natural disaster like these occurring, in what would be in historical terms often, they would not have opted for a less risky alternative for energy needs. especially with what was know about nuclear power when they were put into operation.
It places fault directly at feet those making these decisions on behalf of nation and their citizens.

        • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

Then again this may have been the only cost affective energy solution at the time. I'd like to think they researched all other options before deciding on building 40+ nuclear reactors at the shoreline from the bodies of water which these tsunamis arose from.

        • PhilipUpNorth philipupnorth

LaterLuke: good post, and on point. The problem with atomic power plants is not that they were badly designed, though they are flawed and frail. The problem lies within ourselves, the human builders, operators, and regulators. (And a negligent public which tolerated having these death machines built in the first place.) Utility owners will always try to preserve shareholder value, even if it means endangering public safety. (Building spent fuel pools above reactors, because it is cheaper, etc.) Regulators will always protect their utility clients. (Increasing the allowable radiation dose by a factor of 10, while assuring the poisoned public that it is safe to return to their homes in the evacuation zone). This is why this crazy situation developed as it did. Japan must begin to evacuate their homeland or else stay and perish. America must not allow the building of two new nuclear death machines to go forward in Georgia.

exactly, well said Anthony.. Japan is highly contaminated, therefore illness will follow rapidly, even im suprised at the rate,, suggests alot of plutonium and iodine is floating around, dont say the word! MOX!! yes unit 3 contained Mox Fuel,,, whats left?? nothing,,,

There is no scandal here – the Japanese have set up a system here to not disclose diagnostics. The reporter in question should have got the consent of the families. I admire her will to get out the truth though.

One more comment – you all should be screaming get the kids out.

It would be one thing to take a dose of harmful radiation and then leave the country for safety's sake and then deal with the consequences of that exposure, but these poor people have been and will continue to be permeated by this radiation. It's as if this should be the closing chapter of the history of the nuclear age!! A very bad nursery rhyme will come of this to teach future mutant generations!!

    • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

@Goathead, yes, It most definitely should be the closing chapter of the nuclear age, no if ands, or buts to it!

    • I think resistance, and unfortunately, one more big incident within 3 years will be necessary. Prepare yourselves.

      • And further, that incident may have to be in the US, since it is behind much of the resistance and obstinance, denial, lies, spin and deception around carbon fuels, global climate change, effects of co2, imperial adventures, illegal wars, global genocide via DU weapons, nuclear power plants, etc…

As Arnie Gunderson said in a recent interview, it will more than likely be a one of the 21 Mark I reactors, because they are the weakest and most flawed of all plants…

Of course, the Carrington Effect will give us a HUGE experience, if we are stupid enough as a human species to wait that long, and risk being wiped out as a human species, along with all life on the planet.

I can't believe the normalcy bias that exists around the Carrington effect and solar flares. It is not if, but when it will happen. And as you have said, if it happens soon any nuke plant or waste pile that needs cooling will melt down in short order then the whole world will be experiencing the effects in the article.

    • gerryhiles

Hi goathead … glad to see you like Jimmi (I went to school with Noel Redding, so I have a bit of a connection, albeit tenuous, to the genius).

Name-drop over, but I couldn't resist; nor to your idea that some future generation might have a "nursery song" – assuming that our species survives – about this latest plague emanating from Fukushima, but presaged by Chernobyl and hundreds of atomic bomb tests before that … and this is how a future rhyme might go:

      "Ring a ring of plutonium,
      Six reactors in a row.
      They all fell down
      And we did too."

I haven't posted much since about May last year, because I realized that this is probably an "extinction event" and that nothing can be done about it.

On the other hand, I could be wrong, so I have not tried to discourage those less pessimistic/fatalistic than I am; but I note that I have not affected anyone here I got acquainted with at the outset, e.g. Tacomagroove and others who know who they are, so I feel free to express my negative opinions, especially considering recent and upcoming nuclear wars.

Make no mistake that the wars on Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya were not nuclear, because they were, even if 'only' because of "depleted uranium", which is highly toxic.

The pending wars against Syria and Iran WILL be nuclear and might well involve atomic bombs, though Iran has none.

So IF Washington, London, NATO, Tel Aviv and satraps like Qatar go ahead, then the accident at Fukushima will look like just a tea party for what comes to pass … which has been planned for at least two decades … Google PNAC.

Some claim that Fukushima was an engineered event – like 911 certainly was – but I am careful about which "conspiracy theories" I buy into.

Fukushima was an accident waiting to happen, as opposed to the planned demolition of the WTCs and current wars in the ME.

Sorry folks, but your fate (and mine of course) is sealed by both accident and design, such as world banks betting both…

I too agree Anthony & goathead. I had initially thought that using the Heritage seeds stored away by governments may help, but only for so long. At sometime somewhere you will be exposed.

This link was in the comments on that article.

    Summary and conclusion

Today, 20 years after the Chernobyl accident, the large increase in thyroid cancer incidence among those exposed in childhood and adolescence continues. In contrast, no clearly demonstrated increase in the incidence of other cancers can be attributed to radiation exposure from the accident (28). Although radiation-induced thyroid cancer is a well-recognized medical phenomenon based on wide-ranged epidemiological studies, molecular signature(s) and other details of papillary thyroid cancer remain to be further clarified to pinpoint differential diagnostic criteria not only in childhood and adult thyroid cancers but also in radiation-induced and sporadic cancers (29). The latest study in Hiroshima and Nagasaki Atomic Bomb survivors in Japan has indicated that a biological effect from a single brief external exposure to ionizing radiation nearly 60 years in the past still occurs and can be detected (30).

In childhood, once exposed even to low doses of ionizing radiation, either externally or internally, the cancer-prone cell damage within the thyroid gland can be preserved for a long time. Today, special attention should be paid to a high risk group of individuals who have been exposed to radioactive iodines just after the Chernobyl accident and who are now 20 to 30 year-old. Elucidation of the molecular mechanisms of radiation-induced thyroid cancer is expected to contribute to the disease prevention and treatment in the coming future.

    • MaidenHeaven MaidenHeaven

Would using the Heritage seeds help reduce children's exposure?

I was thinking that maybe for soil you could dig deep enough, even with radiation still pouring out of the reactors that maybe it would be a bit less contaminated, grow foods in greenhouses. … choose less contaminated areas in other countries even..but of course the water. So I simply do not know. I would love some feedback.

      • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

Tacoma I also notice a lot of sparking in the cam too. Saw this the other night but it is more prevalent right now. I thought it might be indicative of a high radiation leak.

        • leak occuring now.

Gamma radiation & neutron decay creates illumination in the digital lens of the camera operating on sight… It is large amounts of energy being released that damages the pixels in the lens… So when you witness many flashes (which I too witnessed), You can assume that there is a leak occurring with open air levels on sight reflecting in the +sievert scale.

    • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

I must have hit the wrong reply button. 🙂 My comment is above you, physically speaking not intellectually. 🙂

    • Anthony Anthony

I still don't believe it will make it a year… there's only a few days left now, so we will soon see.

  • I witnessed a potential flame / event tonight. Likely The common shared spent fuel pool.

My guess is tepco is using the guise of the bright light to cover the damages to this facility…

Very large steam event currently developing.

    • I have been pondering that light source for quite some time now. I wonder if it is somehow cleansing or vaporizing the environment. ???

I know a usa marine team was dispatched with some very sensitive air monitoring equipment shortly after the event began. The report stated that the team had a laser / array that could read the amount of radioactivity in the cloud layer. Measuring both the size and severity of the radiation in the environment.

I assume the light can only be 1 of 4 things.

      1. Basic illusion / manipulation.

      2. A furnace / which vaporizes contaminated materials.

      3. It could be cleansing the environment?

      4. It could be a glass furnace to create?

      Only guesses I have.

I also get the feeling that reactor 3 has a large hole in the containment dome and tepco has been sneakily mixing cement in with the top feed of the cooling on the reactor… Which temporarily plugs the leak. Only to collapse every so often to need another repair. If this is the case the situation as usual should be expected to deteriorate here soon enough…

      • But I noticed and would like some opinions on this…

Is it a mere coincidence that the larger the radiation amount being released / the brighter the spot light is?

        • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

Not sure but what I want to know is why have I been seeing, not on the cam but visually within my own eyes what I can only assume are plutonium flashes. Once about every 5mins or so. One here, a couple there. These would be like if when you sneeze, or get light headed but a lot fewer. I'm just trying to give a description. I do know the difference.

          • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

If they were and I was seeing them that often wouldn't I be dead by now?

          • ageezerofgiza

I don't doubt you see them, but why do you assume they are plutonium? Astronauts see them but they are "cosmic rays".

            • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

Okay, that hadn't occurred to me. So what is the difference ageezer?

            • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

Just answered my own question although these are probably what are called solar energetic particles. Thanks though, relives some of the paranoia.

              • ageezerofgiza

I am surprised you can see "cosmic rays" at ground level though.

                • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

The really unusual part is at night for the past week I've seen sparks or flashes just like on the fukucam when I look outside through my window. These appear to be at a distance. I know according to NASA there has been an uptick in meteors that are moving slower than usual at about 15km a sec. They are actually making into the lower atmosphere, but these are usually fireballs as reported in Texas and Georgia. What I;m seeing a about the same size as what we see on the fukucam, but appear to be distant not close. What I personally am seeing in my eye is strangely also like what we are seeing on the fukucam. Go figure, I'm probably just going crazy. :/

                • datura17

                  xenon isotope is gamma emitter.

          • possibly "Atomic current" from open air atomic elemental decay? or be as simple as not enough vitamin k.

Ohmic to negative differential conductance. creates illumination. Used in switch boards. Light on = go light off = stop?

            • I agree with the above.

Also it was reported that some peoples eyesight can detect magnetic current. Which would be very similar to what you describe aswell.

            • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

Thanks for that info too Tacoma, again as to the your question about the light, I know there is some distortion associated video at night but I never thought it would be that much as during the day the cam seems quite clear. I know the pulsing we see is just the intermittent timing of the frame.

          • aigeezer aigeezer

Depending on the exact circumstances, you may want to get your eyes checked. There is a possibility that you are developing a serious eye problem, such as a torn retina.

      • I highly doubt that any cleansing is going on.. I have seen reports about decontamination. They use brooms, water spray and simple brooms; nothing high tech. That would cost money.

What is needed is a global crash research project with BILLIONS poured into it, about how to defuse these bombs, clean up waste from accidents and how to make nuclear fuel that is melted or in danger of melting inert, plus keep humans safe from released radiation.

Some ideas have been generated here on this site, but I highly doubt any nuclear operator is in pursuit or experimenting with any of these solutions.

With the Carrington Effect coming to a planet we love and live on (SOON), if we do not turn them all off, and/or have solutions ready, humanity will not need nuclear power any longer, because Nature will doom humanity and all life on the planet to extinction, for being stupid enough to open Pandora's Box and then play with Pandora's toys.

@Laterlukemayb if you are seeing those types of flashes then you do need to see an eye doctor. It may be serious. Now I have floaters that do no damage for now, & that might be what they are but please have your eyes checked. I just did a simple Google search. You can put in a better description. But look at a couple of the links I Googled first.

This is what I understood from your description.

    • MaidenHeaven MaidenHeaven

The flashes can also be associated with migraines as well.

      • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

Yep, I use to get those quite often Maiden, I found mine were happening due to an allergic reaction to sodium nitrate. They use it a lot in processed cheese, sandwich meat. Cut it out of my diet and haven't had one since.

        • Tumrgrwer Tumrgrwer

Laterlukemayb, thank you for your helpful migraine trigger information…cheese, I love, hates me. Vision loss, aura then a bad headache. So sodium nitrate is my problem. The doctors have never told me that and did give me one long list a foods to avoid, never mentioning the chemicals responcible. Yes, yes, yes thank you!

    • Bobby1

I had a scare about this too recently, with bright flashes, floaters half the size of the visual field, bulging eye, burning sensation, feeling like insects were crawling on it, migraines etc. Happened all of a sudden. Fortunately, no retinal tear or cataract.

A goiter had developed in my neck, this happened when it receded away.

      • MaidenHeaven MaidenHeaven

Bobby glad that there was no tear or cataract. You need to be so careful with your eyes of course.

      • Laterlukemayb Laterlukemayb

I have the floaters as well Bobby. I have to laugh because prior to knowing what it was I was seeing I was convinced I was seeing ghosts or demons. My have gotten pretty bad. They don't completely obstruct my vision, but very much notice them.

        • Bobby1

I attribute it to iodine and krypton. That freaking krypton-85 is everywhere, and I don't think air or water filters can remove it.

The flashes are not happening all the time. They come spurts. Like a few days will pass then I'll see them. Sometimes more that 2 dozen for the day, then it calms down to a few here and there. It could very well be associated with being online for long periods of time.
I will do a search, the link you posted just gave me the main search page for goggle. I thank you though.

              Nope, never seen it.

This document – which somebody has obviously had transcribed – is information for the legal core of a case that could bring down the nuclear industry.

It shows a regulatory agency that is filtering information and making decisions in a way inconsistent with the law and its charter right from the beginning of the disaster.

              Thanks Whoopie.

Unfortunately, it also confirms all the speculation we made for which we had no actual data – but lots of conflicting bits – That those on the Reagan got seriously radiated. That the core of #3 did indeed blow. I don't have time to asborb it all now, but I'm going to.

        If not you, then who?

        If not now, then when?

Who will save the children after the Carrington Effect melts down 400 nuclear power plants, 400 spent fuel pools and they all go BOOM?

Will it turn out that for lack of you, it will be Too little, too late, warnings ignored, prophets silenced?

Get involved. Make a difference. Do what you can.

It is a travesty, an outrage, a crime that covers up genocide, that this song and information like it is not on NPR, PBS, and all cable channels.

Those who serve to cover up the crimes that these criminals are committing are JUST AS GUILTY, as accessories after the fact.

  • Radiation levels in Fukushima now available in real time

The science ministry has begun posting real-time radiation levels on its website at 2,700 locations across Fukushima Prefecture, including schools and parks.

To access radiation levels measured at 10-minute intervals, go to

The system cost 2.6 billion yen ($33 million) to create and was up and running Feb. 21.

It measures air radiation levels of gamma rays at a height of 50 centimeters above the ground in kindergartens, day care centers and elementary schools and at a height of 1 meter above the ground at junior high and senior high schools and at other public facilities.

The measurement stations operate on solar cells and use built-in cellphone devices to transmit data automatically to a server computer operated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.

The website, which shows the locations of radiation gauges on a map, allows the user to check out current radiation levels and how they changed.

    Hi all,

Great sharing as always, thank you.

I was saddened by the anger/swearing at each other in the comments on this article at EX-SKF. I am so grateful for the community here, which I only recently found.

I'd been doing research and writing on DU before Fukushima–of course since then I have become even more worried about the percentage of out planet that we are making permanently uninhabitable.

So many of the forums neglect to channel the rage communally at the perpetrators, but instead waste energy via unacceptable behavior toward those who post, towards each other. And it's not just moles who are doing this, though I am sure they love to see it.

But here, I find solace in a world that is offering so little solace, and activism that is educational and constructive.

    Thanks again,

Why no news on the North Anna Nuclear plant leak in Virginia? Heard about it in the news in Seattle, WA. The groundwater is contaminated at 3-4 time EPA Bq/m3 –and the TEPCO lookalike, VEPCO, says NOT OUR RADIATION. SO..if

  • jec jec

So if not North Anna's radiation, its the "no danger for fallout from Japan.."–which the government says. So cant have cake and eat it too..somewhere radiation has contaminated the ground water.
For the record, VEPCO also (like TEPCO) lies and trys to manipulate data for their benifit. Most resently in Virginina Beach, VEPCO testified there was NO danger from "fly ash" or the residuals from their processes. So a golf course was built. Now the ground water is contamninated, and a class action suit filed as NO ONE IN GOVERMENT has done anything to help the affected land owners. VEPCO ignores. The legal case, however, has surfaced emails (listening TEPCO?) of the efforts to hide the danger. This is exactly the same "playbook" used by TEPCO. And now for the North Anna danger..all fine..NOT OUR PROBLEM. Wonder when we will learn??

Thyroid cancer is the fastest growing cancer in the world and it is being caused from nuclear radiation contamination. All cancers have skyrocketed since 1945 and this cancer and disease pandemic is a direct reflection of repeated nuclear radiation contamination events worldwide. We have all been hoodwinked by those seeking profits through human misery.

  • Thyroid testing in children delayed after Fukushima due to worries that monitoring would add anxiety to community

    Lucas W Hixson on Feb 23, 2012

In the weeks following the March 11th disaster the estimated exposure dose for children was abnormally elevated, leading the Japanese government to begin testing to deduce the amount of radioactive iodine concentrated in the thyroid of over 1000 children shorty after the accident. Many parents demanded the tests, drawing parallels with the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, after which locals reported thyroid disorders, a problem sometimes associated with radiation exposure.

The Japanese Yomiuri report shows that the government’s Nuclear Emergency Response Headquarters did not fulfill requests from the Cabinet’s Nuclear Safety Commission of Japan (NSC) to conduct further testing on the internal radioactive exposure of children, due to fears of how the public may react to the inspections. One tragedy endured by the Soviets after the Chernobyl disaster, was an epidemic of thyroid cancer among people exposed to the radiation as children, which to a large extent was preventable and would probably not have happened if people had been told to stop drinking locally produced, and today many argue that there is no justifiable reason for it to be repeated in Japan.

A report released in the beginning of …

It takes some time for thyroid cancer just like other cancers to start and set in after initial radiation contamination exposures and this is exactly how this nuclear folly has gotten away with such past practices and deceit.

The cats out of the bag and the truth is now available for all to see. We have been in the past and are now being lied to today on a continual basis by all authorities world wide concerning Nuclear Power and related Nuclear Technologies.

60 years is all it took to trash the entire planet. Thats some real human progress based on our current understandings and promoted educational systems.

CB thanks, I have actually been here for quite some time. My silence in the past should not be construed as a negative but as a positive as I have watched the warriors on this site carry the true concern for the future of all humanity and not unlike a shield for all others to admire.

We are entering very dangerous times my friend and this current worldwide Nuclear problem is leading the pack.
