After all his success, Dr. [Michael] Nobel now focuses his scientific research on the radiation effects on the victims of the Fukushima disaster, where the radioactive contamination is widespread even today almost a year after the earthquake.

[...]

Nobel: The scary figure is that we believe that 1 child out of 20 around the Fukushima area might run the risk of developing thyroid cancer from radiation contamination.

1 out of 20.

no evacuation, just apple pectin.. busby got shot down for selling them to fund a laboratory. this mob dont even make clear what the price is on the web-site

    http://propectin.com/

though i found a variety of these treatments

    http://www.nextag.com/pro-pectin/compare-html

no evacuation and 1 in 20 children will get cancer but that will be a ball park 25,000 children out of the possible 500,000 that were in myagi and fukushima prefectures. nothing about the adults?

this 1 in 20 figure is drawn from the cohort thyroid tests and do not include the effects of cesium 137 and 134, strontium 90 etc

nice to see that product placement brings an ounce of truth.

talking of medical horrors, you might like to check this article out if you want a hint at how these doctors/health professionals and the mediawork

i might as well mention that the nobel crowd are pro war (example – the warrior obama of the congress tribe)

and after the second world war Sweden (the natural home of the Nobel family) enacted a eugenics policy that would have made herr eickman proud!

in the meantime the peace prize end of the family give nutters a peace prize for de-population, war and present and future eugenics policies while this guy talks of giving pills instead of evacuation.. busby called for evacuation too!

is this guy a bit senile or is he full of

YEP! The Nobel Comm gave the Peace Prize to Barack War-Monger Obama! I won't paint Dr. Michael Nobel with any broad brush of guilt because I just want to point out the Obama mistake. They have made many, including Kissinger.

      I fully agree arclight!

I had multiple thoughts as I watched this.

It's a TV COMMERCIAL for pectin supplement that uses somebody with a name while on a CBS News program. So it's sort of a news-like infomercial.

The problem is some facts about Fukushima slipped in while other things like 'evacuating children' and the ongoing severity are ignored.

A real "NEWS" article should provide factual information about the benefits of Apples/Pectin NOT where to buy it. Aren't they are supposed to pay for commercial time? (Probably they did, to the shows producer, if you catch my drift.)

Well it seems that the truth is finally beginning to flow more freely from the people that have the 'credentials' to officially speak about these things.. Maybe the tides will turn soon and wash away all the lies! :-D

On another note, i stumbled across this little gem recently:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zLS6NCZPiSY
I don't know if i'm posting 'old news' but it is a video named RADIUM CITY about the radium girls – and one of the towns where the company employing them was placed. It might not be up for long, so watch it while you can!

This one turns up in the suggestions following RADIUM CITY but it's a fun litlle song and worth mentioning. 1 minute 26 seconds of isotope lecture!

NHK describes the planned structure of the waste disposal sites:
    HOLD TIGHT

"The proposed waste disposal facility will have a roof to prevent radioactive materials from leaking with rainwater.

The storage facility will be about 10 meters deep from the surface and built with a concrete floor and walls. The concrete will be processed to make it resistant to corrosion.
Workers will transfer the radioactive waste into oil drums. Cranes will then be used to place the drums into the facility.

A monitoring room will be set up nearby for safety management.

Wells will also be dug to check whether radioactive materials are seeping into groundwater.

Once the space is full, workers will fill it with clay-like soil and cover it with concrete. Two more layers of soil will then be added to cover the surface.

Even the monitoring room will eventually be filled with soil to make sure that no radioactive materials will leave the facility.

The Environment Ministry says these measures will keep radiation levels around the disposal facility below 10 microsieverts per year.

That is one-hundredth the annual permissible level for the general public."

Fill it all up and cover with concrete! Closing down the monitoring room?
    Insane.

      Where will it be?

"The central government is responsible for disposing of more than 42,000 tons of radioactive ash and mud in 9 prefectures. Levels of Cesium in the waste are above the government standard of 8,000 becquerels per kilogram.

Tochigi Prefecture is already temporarily storing about 9,000 tons of radioactive waste at sewage treatment and other facilities.

The Environment Ministry says a 4-hectare national forest in Tochigi's Yaita City is large enough for the purpose and far enough from the closest residential area and water source.

The ministry will brief people living near the site on the need and safety of the planned facility."

  • One in twenty "might run the risk" of developing thyroid cancer? More than a third of the children in Fukushima have enlarged thyroids, so these numbers seem (unfortunately) unrealistic. A 5 percent loss of children to thyroid cancer is still acceptable to bean counters, TEPCO officials, GE, the IAEA and the Japanese government, and thus they will not extend the evacuation zone. The people of Japan need to know the truth. Doctors need to put aside their egos and their defense of the status quo and be realistic about these numbers. Realistically, at least half of these children will develop some form of cancer or radiation decease in the next few years. How can they not? Look at Chernobyl! And even if the Fukushima kids only have a 1 in 20 chance of developing thyroid cancer/tumors, what is their risk of developing leukemia, brain tumors, and other cancers and diseases associated with severe radiation poisoning? What does Dr. Nobel think of their chances of remaining healthy for the rest of their lives with the non-stop radiation emitting from the meltthroughs? These poor children have no idea what their government is doing to them. These kids are the walking dead. They need to be evacuated ASAP.

Kelly Ann Thomas, you illuminate a big problem with the whole situation – that of pronouncements by specialists diluting the macro consequences.
There are those rightly contributing their knowledge, and those who use a micro focus to obscure, distort, confuse and disguise.
It's comparable to the focus on one or two isotopes of cesium or cherry-picking medical data.
I'm not criticising Michael Nobel. Many more like him are needed to counter the many streams of distraction-data and misleading words issuing from those you identify.

It appears that the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare has sent a message to hospitals and doctors that the thyroid examination should be done only at Fukushima Medical University. A woman took her child to one hospital in Tokyo given this information. This is no medical practice, just human experiment gathering data….for who though? Who, which country the data will be sold?

At the same time this issue is being FINALLY talked about we received reports last week of citizens being turned away for medical (and other) assistance. Simultaneously as the Japanese kids are sprouting cysts and tumors the Japanese Government refuses to acknowledge there is a radiation problem. How can medical professionals turn their HEART from helping pre-cancer patients who desperately need them?

TEPCO's error wasn't the meltdowns which happened on 311. Their error is in their posture and methodologies which through bad judgement and narrow mindedness created, it appears deliberately, a worst case scenario upon the world, but especially its own customers and communities. I say it is deliberate because it is their after 311 actions which have my attention. They have no right to prevent all the rest of us from STOPPING ourselves from being sucked into this ongoing poisoning of our personal bodies.

The opposing values can not healthily coexist. This is becoming a new level of dysfunctional-ism to me.

God, now if the scientist willing to speak would connect with the Nuclear engineer who is willing to speak and then they connect together with the Medical Professional willing to speak… we would actually be taking a step forward.

Hi maxli, thanks, I did this March 7 originally, in response to
"Controversy…40,000 microsievert dose for Calif…" but it seems appropriate here too.
The odd phrasing is because it's The Powers That Be are speaking.
That 1st version all fit in one post. No longer, so the edit.
        And… the more anti-nuke rhyme-ranters the better!

  • Time Is Short Time Is Short

The chances of getting sick from Fukushima fallout are pushing 100%. The air, water and all of the earth's food is contaminated, and growing exponentially through bio-accumulation daily, with no end in sight. As the world becomes 'rad-hotter', there is less need to monitor the safety of all the other NPPs. They will be re-licensed till full collapse. As they all start to disintegrate, the bio-accumulation of rads will only increase.

The inner atmosphere Walsh-Immelt radiation belt is destroying our food crops through drought and rad-rain. What little that's left will be highly radiated.

In the meantime, our primary oxygen source is mutating itself into extinction.

When McCarthy wrote 'The Road', he didn't foresee the world running out of oxygen. Add that onto the book, and you can see our future. Our children are screwed.

The U.S. should have an incalculable interest in assisting TEPCO/Japan get this situation better under control (to the degree that it can be done) as the nation is directly across the Pacific. So much generated there will find its way here. It is not to understood, at least by me, as to why boron wasn't dumped onto the reactors from DAY ONE! Did TEPCO have no boron on hand in case of such a catastrophic emergency? Are all of the other reactors equally poorly equipped?

Where is the immediate and MASSIVE response?!

With each billion becquerels we are seeing the future of the world passing away. The future of all.

The elites in the UK won't have to implement their eugenics program with Fukushima blowing in our wind.
