Title: Nuclear radiation impact being ignored?
Source: DNA
Author: Dilnaz Boga
Date: Mar 24, 2013

[...] the ‘Interim Report on Tarapur’ has found indicators which show radiation-related problem among employees of Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS) and villages close to it. [...]

Cancer, goitre, infertility, mental retardation common [...]

Goitre cases have also been found in the surrounding villages, local physicians corroborated in the report. [...]

Cases of mental retardation, including Down’s Syndrome, autoimmune arthritis, particularly rheumatoid arthritis, were found in villagers along with high instances of cataract and myopia at a young age. [...]

Full report here

Dr V Pugazhenthi from Tamil Nadu, renowned for studies on the health impact of radiation around the Kalpakkam nuclear site

  • “I found 100 cases of cancer in 2010 among TAPS employees. Local physicians said that incidents of cancer have been on the rise in the area in the last few years, particularly hepatoma, ovarian cancer, bone cancer, breast cancer and non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. But there has been no intervention for the victims.”
  • “A casual walk through the villages helped me identify 15-20 Goitre cases. TAPS doctors had carried a survey on thyroid problems by the medical superintendent denied it.”
  • “Spontaneous abortions, still births, hormonal imbalances in women in the form of excessive bleeding, decreased birth weight and birth defects on the rise.”

RK Gupta, who worked for Bhabha Atomic Research Centre for over 30 years in the fuel reprocessing division in the plutonium plant

“Exposures are a regular affair. Workers have died of skin diseases and cancer. Despite this, international rules for workers are not fully implemented. There is a silence about this as people compromise because of their economic condition. Even contaminated tools that are stolen and scarp metal slow poison people. Just like people get poisoned from fish exposed to radiation very far from the site.”

These truths are being ignored by United States government!

What a cruel lie: safe nuclear power?

Albert Einstein gave birth to nuclear power, when he wrote his apparently convincing letter to Franklin Roosevelt, urging the United Sates Government to launch a program to produce an atomic bomb.

Nuclear power is the bastard step-child of the bomb project; it has been foisted on the world by power hungry, profits-infused industrialists who were in on the massive spending implied by the effort to build the atomic bomb and deploy and use it, and test it.

These war monger industrialists have corrupted the political process in the United States and United Nations to benefit the roll out of inherently unsafe, unneeded, carbon intensive and highly polluting nuclear power plants around the world for sixty years.

This is a sham and a shame. Places which have been cheaply used to back up this horrible industrial mistake like MIT and the reprehensible Rasmussen report whitewash should be outed and publicly shamed for their part in this cruel masquerade.

Nuclear power is utterly unsafe, as the explosions at Cernobyl, TMI and multiple implosion/explosions at Fukushima reveal …

The cover up of these truths is Orwellian in the extreme, as we are treated to a wide display of nouveau riche black athletes, Latino singing sensations, and white starlets, to let us all know for sure just how equality rich and healthy our false, modern economy really is …

Don't know where the Einstein info came from. He wound up VERY upset about splitting the atom. Just don't use him as any kind of typical example from a scientist. He wound up horrified. Whereas the scientists today — many or most have appeared to learn nothing.

"Albert Einstein did not build the atomic bomb. But, with his Theory of Relativity, he published the formula which constitutes the basic principle of the atomic bomb, or how a huge amount of energy can be released from a small amount of matter."

He was for it, to possibly stop the Nazis from getting it, but didn't like it:

Many of the original nuclear pioneers were very against nuclear power as they approached the end of their lives. The few Mad Scientists who regretted their work before they went to the Pearly Gates.

Too little, too late maybe? We are certainly paying the price.

Einsteins therory explained the enormous amont
of energy wich is released by an atomic bomb.

But the principles of a nuclear chain reaction was discovered by Otto Hahn and Lise Meitner. In 1939 (Mme Meitner was immigrated to sweden) Hahn asks Meitner to explain some experiments where uranium nuclei breaks into pieces. She and her nephew Otto Frisch found, the fisson of one uranium nucleus releases 200 milliom electronvolt of energy and some neutrons. She was also aware of the possibility of a chain reaktion, so, she write a letter to Albert Einstein, telling him her deepest concerns.

          Facts, not fiction!

Germany, the political entity which gave rise to Adolf Hitler, whose rise to power occasioned the Manhattan Project and the birth of nuclear power hoax, has thrown off the yoke of the lying, deceitful modern nuclear power industry.

Do you remember the howls of anger hurled at Germany by right wing radio commentators, who speculated Germany would rue this clearly rational decision?

I do. The lies from highly educated and well-sponsored, pro-nuclear US industrialists occasioned an angry response from me at the time, immediately post-Fukushima meltdowns …

These pro-nuclear forces are unrepentant and still sing the praises of their favorite, fascistic enterprise: unsafe, federally coddled, nuclear power and its set of huge public lies: that a meltdown will only cost a few billion, when damages are really in the many trillions; that decontamination works, even though it can't be done.

How many nuclear power plants must blow up and spew their deadly toxins before the public is finally convinced this national lie is not worth the trouble anymore?

Isn't it ironic that Germany, the original target of the Manhattan project is the major nation first to reach a rational conclusion about the reality and future value of nuclear power?

Maybe it pays to lose a war, if a nation can thereby wake up and throw off the monkey of a false, capitalistic ideology … in this case "safe" nuclear power, and the consequences of accepting this lie.

    peace …

Nor did the apple fall far from the tree. Bush Sr. is the author of nuclear weapons on the battlefield — somehow they skirted international law with depleted uranium weapons. And he enriched himself personally GREATLY thereby, during his Presidency, through The Carlyle Group. Of course, Prescott Bush, after his successful conviction under the Trading with the Enemies Act (NO JAIL TIME FOR BEING A TRAITOR — JUST A FINE), went on to become a Senator from Connecticut. And George Bush Sr. went on to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Americans apparently have learned as little as the Japanese.

Sorry Pu239, but Merkel is as pro-nuke as anyone could possibly be. The socialist/green coalition had passed the law to finish nuclear back in 2000! It was not Merkels idea! In fact, when she and her conservative ilk came to power in 2009, she prepared a 180 degree turn by elongating the reactor lifetimes by 10-15 years. We had hundreds of thousands protesting here – and then en plus Fuku happened.
She would've lost the upcoming elections without the decision to phase out nuclear. And still, right now her party is doing everything to make investments in renewables unattractive.
She is not resonsible for the nuclear phaseout. No need to thank her.

On Royal Nazis and the Scottish connection
“One of the biggest public relations hoaxes ever perpetrated by the British Crown, is that King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne in 1938, due to his support for the Nazis, was a “black sheep,'' an aberration in an otherwise unblemished Windsor line. Nothing could be further from the truth.

“The British monarchy, and the City of London's leading Crown bankers, enthusiastically backed Hitler and the Nazis, bankrolled the Führer's election, and did everything possible to build the Nazi war machine, for Britain's planned geopolitical war between Germany and Russia. Support for Nazi-style genocide has always been at the heart of House of Windsor policy, and long after the abdication of Edward VIII, the Windsors maintained their direct Nazi links. So, when Prince Philip, co-founder with Prince Bernhard of the Netherlands of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), tells an interviewer that he hopes to be “reincarnated as a deadly virus'' to help solve the “population problem,'' he is just “doin' what comes naturally'' for any scion of the Anglo-Dutch oligarchy.

“To get beyond the soap opera stuff and truly understand the Windsors today, it is useful to start with Prince Philip. Not only was he trained in the Hitler Youth curriculum, but his German brothers-in-law, with whom he lived, all became high-ranking figures in the Nazi Party….”

“The Manhattan Project was a research and development project that produced the first atomic bombs during World War II. It was led by the United States with the support of the United Kingdom and Canada. From 1942 to 1946, the project was under the direction of Major General Leslie Groves of the US Army Corps of Engineers. The Army component of the project was designated the Manhattan District; "Manhattan" gradually superseded the official codename, "Development of Substitute Materials", for the entire project. Along the way, the project absorbed its earlier British counterpart, Tube Alloys. The Manhattan Project began modestly in 1939, but grew to employ more than 130,000 people and cost nearly US$2 billion (about $26 billion as of 2013[1]). Over 90% of the cost was for building factories and producing the fissionable materials, with less than 10% for development and production of the weapons. Research and production took place at more than 30 sites across the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada….”

TY, pure water. Others involved in the early research also were appalled that Truman used nuclear weapons against Japan and many have warned against nuclear energy as well. Science around the world is in all too many cases, not science at all. Many scientists just do what they are told because they like their monied, suposedly safe existence. However, these actions of playing the puppet instead of being a real scientist are actions of extreme self destruction. No one can take it with them, and they are rapidly bringing down the final curtain of humanity and humaneness, and civility and civilization.

Why is their a increase in cancer around nuclear plants, simple you can not capture all the free neutrons, some escape, no level of radiation is safe and corrupts DNA no matter how minuscule the level, thanks Anne, of course the higher the level the higher the contamination, have I got that right.

We know that large numbers of Japanese women are having abortions, fearing for possibly mutated/sick children that they would have no hope of providing for – or just not wanting to deal with.

I'm not going to get into the abortion argument, but in Washington, where the Fuku radiation hits first, the State is proposing to mandate that insurance companies pay for voluntary abortions, something no insurance company in the US presently provides for:

'Washington state weighs first-in-the-nation abortion insurance mandate'

    http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/03/24/washington-state-weighs-first-in-nation-abortion-insurance-mandate/?intcmp=trending

Why now, and why there? What do they know, and/or what are they expecting to see? Thousands of Washington women wanting to have abortions over the same fears of their babies as the Japanese women? And will this spread across the US? Who will be paying for these abortions? Obamacare? Who will be paying for the deformed/rad sick children that don't get aborted? Will Obamacare death panels – oh, I'm sorry, 'managed health care cost cutting panels' – mandate the killing of all mutated fetuses?

Whatever bad is happening in Japan right now, we are going to very shortly see here.

It's nice that you have high and mighty morality. But before Obamacare (which has not yet been implemented before being smeared to hell and gone!!!), millions of people have had NO insurance. Do self-centered libertarians really like that better? I know the argument — we need more guns, less health care. Well, good luck with that morality play. Not buying.
