[...] 19.4% of Fukushima physicians answered that their “physical state isn’t well.”  14.1% of Miyagi physicians and 12.8% of Iwate physicians answered similarly.  In particular, the percentage of Fukushima physician, 19.4%, is 3.5 times more than pre-311. [...]

The Japan Medical Association Research Institute (JMARI), which conducted the survey, suggested that “These physician from three Tohoku prefectures have been working hard and long hours due to lack of physicians.  In Fukushima they might be affected by stress caused by Tokyo Electric Company Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident.” [...]

(From a Kyodo article dated February 10, 2013)

Fukushima Diary summarized the Japan Medical Association Research Institute’s findings:

According to Japan Medical Association Research Institute, 19.4 % of Fukushima doctors answered “Their health condition is not good” for the questionnaire. The ratio used to be 5.6% before 311. [...]

The research was conducted from late August to mid September of 2012. [...]

Study of Atomic-Bomb Survivors: Even lower levels of ionizing radiation exposure may lead to soft tissue cancers February 11, 2013 in Surgery In one of the largest and longest follow-up studies ever conducted to assess the effects of ionizing radiation upon the development of soft tissue sarcomas in humans, the investigators found that much lower levels than previously ever identified lead to the development of soft tissue sarcomas and poor survival rates. This study was conducted by Dr. Dino Samartzis, from the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, The University of Hong Kong, and colleagues at the Radiation Effects Research Foundation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan. Details of this study appear in the February 6th issue of the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery [Am].

    What is Oxidative Stress?

Oxidative stress is caused by an imbalance between the production of reactive oxygen and a biological system's ability to readily detoxify the reactive intermediates or easily repair the resulting damage.

All forms of life maintain a reducing environment within their cells. This reducing environment is preserved by enzymes that maintain the reduced state through a constant input of metabolic energy. Disturbances in this normal redox state can cause toxic effects through the production of peroxides and free radicals that damage all components of the cell, including proteins, lipids, and DNA.

In humans, oxidative stress is involved in many diseases, such as atherosclerosis, Parkinson's disease, heart failure, myocardial infarction, Alzheimer's disease, fragile X syndrome and chronic fatigue syndrome, but short-term oxidative stress may also be important in prevention of aging by induction of a process named mitohormesis. Reactive oxygen species can be beneficial, as they are used by the immune system as a way to attack and kill pathogens. Reactive oxygen species are also used in cell signaling. This is dubbed redox signaling.

And, over on the Nuke Issues thread, anne, the timely girl that she is, posted:

  • We Not They Finally

19% of doctors admit they don't feel well physically? Look. The doctors there have been INTIMIDATED ongoing to even mention radiation to patients, to deny second opinions, and to withhold critically needed services to children. As of last summer, many months back, they already found that 60% of Fukushima's children had turned diabetic! (Radiation yes, CAN do that.) By now that number might be up to 75% — 3/4 of the area's children with untreated diabetes, and SHAME on that medical community for agreeing to act like Nazi doctors. So if 19% of DOCTORS there say that they "dont' feel well," I'd say read that as about 80% or more. Shame on all of them. Shame forever. God help the people of Japan.

Reading this Wiki 'Fallout' page as it includes reactor meltdowns impart…

"Nuclear fallout, or simply fallout, also known as Black Rain, is the residual radioactive material propelled into the upper atmosphere following a nuclear blast or a nuclear reaction conducted in an unshielded facility, so called because it "falls out" of the sky after the explosion and shock wave have passed. It commonly refers to the radioactive dust and ash created when a nuclear weapon explodes, but this dust can also be originated in a damaged nuclear plant.

This radioactive dust, consisting of material either directly vaporized by a nuclear blast or charged by exposure, is a highly dangerous kind of radioactive contamination…"

Talks about superheat reacting with corral (actually calcium) and falling back to earth as white snow. I guess superheated graphite would come back down a black snow, maybe like from Fukushima control rods guides showing up as the mysterious 'black substance' on the ground or other superheated substances coming back down as flakes or ash.

Also noted is seawater (which one drop contains every trace element (metals) known to man) can become metallic ions that chemically bond to many surfaces and are hard to remove, if they are caught up in the fission process.

Also notable it mentions the 'Baby Tooth Survey' of the 60's.

This bias reporter really put the nuclear cart before the horse…

So to sum up: all plants are now well on their way to a cold shutdown. At no time have their operators come even close to running out of options. No core has melted down and come up against the final defensive barriers: the safety systems did not come even close to failing, despite being tested far beyond what they had been designed to take. One person has sustained a small dose of radiation which need cause him no concern.

"…The whole sequence of events is a ringing endorsement for nuclear power safety. If this – basically nothing – is what happens when decades-old systems are pushed five times and then some beyond their design limits, new plants much safer yet would be able to resist an asteroid strike without problems.

But you wouldn't know that from looking at the mainstream media. Ignorant fools are suggesting on every hand that Japan's problems actually mean fresh obstacles in the way of new nuclear plants here in the UK, Europe and the US…"

The physicians are being exposed to radiation and are suffering the effects along with their patients.
They are to learn… that their medical concerns are going to brushed under the rug..as stress…just like in the case of their patients.
On the whole …the medical community in Japan has done it's share to cover up the effects of the Fukushima Npp disaster.
I hope they will the strength… to pull the lids onto their own coffins.

Karma is sure a bitch. Are not these the same professionals who denied patients appropriate diagnosis and treatment while also suggesting their patients just needed to suck it up? I guess its going to take doctors sick and dead from radiation for anything close to justice to evolve from this situation.
