Title: Bayou Corne Resident Meeting With La. State Representatives (Informal)

Louisiana State Representative Joe Harrison: I don’t want to start rumors [about the tremors]. People say from fracking, people say from some of the things they’re doing right now for the oil industry, which may or may not be part of it. I don’t know, I don’t even want to speculate on it.

But I do want to know if we do have something in those areas, that we are sending someone to that point and trying to get the real experts to tell us, “This is what’s happening, this is what you can expect.”

And give us some sort of monitoring system in the event that we have another major opening like this, which, God forbid, that we’re at least able to give some forewarning to people as to what we can expect in the area.

Forewarning?!? We've already been given a sign. I really don't think we need sensors or warning systems for what seems to be coming. The earth is pissed off and growling with methane farts. Earth has been innoculated with radiation, oil, and "unknowns" for quite some time. They didn't think it could last forever, right?

My apologies Cataclysmic, but as the camera was pointing to the west at the time, "look left and north" doesn't actually mean anything, it translates as "look south and north".

Any chance of a pic with an arrow pointing to the area or failing that GoogleEarth co-ordinates.

Thanks Cataclysmic, page 18 states it is now 8 acres as of Nov. 1/2012

I was looking through the Shaw document and I stopped to look real good at the gas pressure diagram on Page 28. I remember our dear friend Hecox stating that it was a good thing that the recovery times were slower as time went on. I will grant him that it may be a good sign, however he has no further proof that that is a direct cause – effect relationship. I submit this alternate theory for consideration.

Knowing what we know about the geology in the area, it is possible that the decrease in the rate at which the relief wells are building pressure following each flare is due to fine sedimentary particles the conductive pathways that are allowing the gas to migrate into the medium our vent wells are connected to. We have had clogging issues before and it is likely that is what we are seeing.
Please also note that the maximum recorded pressure was approximately 900 psi, very close to the initial maximum recorded pressure of approx. 960 psi. That indicates we are not putting much of a dent in the total amount of gas in the formations. We are going to be at this for a while, possibly many months, before we can accurately describe the processes involved.

Keep doing what you do Hecox, I can hear your underlying message and I applaud your bravery. I may disagree somewhat woth you attempting to put more stock in the possible scenarios that are good news and having to recant them at the next meeting.

If there were 28 known methane bubbling sites in the Potomac river and after two months a seven acre sinkhole opened up on National Mall would the national response be so lukewarm?
