European Commission, Science for Environment Policy News Alert (pdf): The 2011 nuclear accident at Fukushima, Japan, caused the release of large amounts of radionuclides (unstable atoms that produce radioactive emissions) to the atmosphere. Caesium and iodine radionuclides can negatively affect human health through the contamination of air, water, soil and agricultural products. The EU-funded study1 modelled the global spread of radionuclides of caesium and iodine from Fukushima in the atmosphere [...] or iodine radionuclides [...] meteorological conditions and convection promote more long-distance transport. This is because iodine does not dissolve as easily as caesium so it remains in a gaseous form and is redistributed by convection to the troposphere (lowest part of atmosphere) where the wind speed is greater and transports the iodine greater distances. The model results suggest that 12.7% of iodine radionuclides were deposited over the USA and Canada [...] Approximately 50-60% was deposited locally in Japan.

Modelling the global atmospheric transport and deposition of radionuclides from the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear accident (pdf), 2013: [...] meteorological conditions associated with convection and vertical mixing over the Pacific Ocean promote its longdistance transport so that it contributes to radioactivity deposition worldwide. Our model results suggest that the plumes that traversed the Pacific Ocean caused significant deposition of radioactivity over continental North America, in particular western USA, western Canada and eastern USA (>100 Bqm−2). Our model results also show substantial deposition of radionuclides in regions southwest of Japan, e.g., around the Philippines1. Two weeks after the accident, all operational CTBTO stations in the northern hemisphere had reported at least one 131I detection.

I think the 750 Petabequerel are shown at right. In Japan, a gas cloud iodine-131 went down from 450 Petabequerel and that exceeds in the correct assessment of the value of the fallout over the U.S. and Canada.

In the United States and Canana should be a large number of samples to be taken. See the Pub and the low Iodine Value.

We need to stop pissing in the wind over what happened, and get to what to do about it. Flying over the western desert I could see clearly the damage done by this electroplating. First iodide 131, then Xe133, turning into Cesium 137 on top. Sorry about copy pasted materials. This spoke for me on this matter.
"We focus on the radionuclides that were emitted as gases and partly attached to
ambient aerosol particles: the semi-volatile isotopes of iodine 131I (with a half-life of
8 days) and caesium 137 5 Cs (with a half-life of 30 yr). We also modeled the emission
of the isotope 133Xe (with a half-life of 5.25 days). Since xenon is an unreactive noble
gas and is not removed by deposition processes, it serves as a passive tracer of
atmospheric transport. 137Cs is modeled as a water-soluble aerosol with a standard
lognormal distribution with mean radius 0.25 μm and a Henry’s law coefficient equal
10 to 1.0mol l−1 atm−1 and a density of 1000.0 kgm−3. Due to the long decay lifetime of
137Cs compared to the simulation period and the short timescales of the atmospheric
removal processes considered, its radioactive decay is not taken into account in the simulation".

Next time I hear about a nuclear power plant problem up wind — I don't care if it's currently 20 miles downwind, that's still upwind — I am taking a 130 mg iodine pill.

Can't trust the government. On the dollar bill where it says, "In God We Trust." Well, now, the courts have ruled that you can't have a policy based on faith-related material. I read that in a recent article detailing how Kentucky must recognize same-sex marriages, where the marriage occurs in other states. The states may define marriage, but NOT based on faith related matters. So, to what God does the dollar bill refer?

Just using this example to support my belief that the government has absolutely no faith in God, and just makes shit up as they go. I guess nuclear devastation could be wrong, but not if it is judged by morality, or faith. I guess using depleted uranium on an "enemy"is OK as long as the "enemy" is determined to be an "enemy" in some other method than morality or faith matters is used to make that determination. I suppose that the "colateral damage" imposed on future generations of that enemy is just punishment for "thought crimes" of those future generations, because as far as I can tell, the future generations are innocent as of now.

The government keeps silent when we are in danger, so as not to "Panic" us. I guess that is why they did not tell those black men years ago that they were being injected with syphillis? I guess that is why we are all…

The team also examined Japan's efforts to monitor radiation condition in the marine environment, including seawater, sediments and biota, which were further discussed with officials of the Nuclear Regulation Authority (NRA).

"The team was impressed by the comprehensive monitoring system in place in Japan, both for seawater and for the products in the food chain. Additionally, the team observed that Japan introduced limits for food controls based on the international standard level. This systematic approach, together with the distribution restrictions by relevant local governments, ensures the safety of the marine fishery products in the market," Lentijo said.

Taking iodine is not a long term solution. It's only meant as a temporary measure till you can move to a safe location. So, one would have to say, "take iodine supplements immediately and pack up and move away from the contamination zone". Of course alerting those ready to "bug out" would have been nice. But I suspect those ready to do so would already know and not have to be told.

Taking the supplements when the radioactive iodine plume came over would have made a huge difference to those living on the west coast. They did not need to take it long term to get the benefit from the initial plume concentration in the air.

Also, what is the half life of the radioactive iodine that made up the majority of the plume? Is it not rather short. If so, then unless radioactive iodine was continuously generated the supplements would have made an even greater difference in their health.

Indeed, even a shelter in place order would have kept us out of it. It is absolutely ridiculous and absurd that our tax dollars paid to build the most sensitive radiation detection system in the world, only thing close, by not as powerful, is CTBTO's, which our tax dollars also helped build, yet this system didn't know this cloud was coming and or it was dangerous???!!! Bullshit. Our elected knew exactly what was coming, it did not take seconds, for these materials to travel to the west coast of the USA, rather days. We have instruments that can detect underground nuclear tests, all over the world. Certainly, we detected, just as the rest of the world with lesser instruments and technology did, the largest ever released cloud of radioactive xenon, complete with hot particles, and probably those nano cage cluster buckey balls of plutonium and uranium. Our elected should have made the order. It is a crime that they did not. I am appalled at our systems. All of them. This is the clearest example that our government, which is paid and sustained with our tax dollars, does not serve us! Who are they serving by not giving the order to keep us safe? Under what circumstances is this failure to act to serve citizens ok? This is so damn big there will be no denying it. There will also be no denying that those in power, both sides, knew what was what. Especially those at the top…and yet they argue for war?? Think about it. We are being conned.

He told me there is nothing to worry about and that all is well. He did admit to finding Chernyobol fall out in tree rings but hadn't done any testing for Fukusima since the first few weeks of April 2011.

He mentioned that no scientists at their local annual nuclear conference is doing any testing. They see no reason to.

So if my background is 30CPM and the seaweed is 120CPM does that mean it's safe? No one wants to answer that of course.

Cesium-136/-137 ratio demonstrates radiation releases from spent fuel pools. ( December 12, 2013)

There is a controversy currently raging in the Fuku community about spent fuel pool #4. Tepco and the Japanese government claim to have begun removing fuel rods from the Unit 4 SFP, and have released photos of a nice clean spiffy pool, enclosed in a recently constructed building exterior, that has apparently suffered little damage. The other faction claims that the FOIA documents and news reports from the time talk about a fire in SFP#4 (and #3) starting March 15, 2011 or so. This fire supposedly released all the radiation from these pools at the time, and we are now already in the dire scenario that the other side was claiming might happen.

There is a way to settle this controversy. It is by looking at the isotopic ratios of cesium isotopes that were measured in the soil and air at the time, that is, the ratio or cesium-136 to cesium-137 in these samples.

A simple binomial test indicated a two-tailed P<.002, rejecting the hypothesis that all the cesium came from the reactors.

All Cs-136 measurements besides Tepco’s indicate a significant cesium release from the spent fuel pools. Since the assumptions were conservative, a range of 33%-60% of the cesium was observed to come from the pools.

No problem everyone on ENE post great stuff!

        Just found this on BerkleyEd

On March 23, Dr. Ferenc Dalnoki-Veress, a Research Scientist at the Monterey Institute of International Studies saw a report by Kyodo news agency that caught his eye. It reported that Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) had observed a neutron beam about 1.5 km away from the plant. Bursts of neutrons in large quantities can only come from fission so Dalnoki-Veress, a physicist, was faced with an alarming possibility: had portions of one of Fukushima’s reactors gone critical?

To nuclear workers, there are few events more fearful than a criticality accident. In such a scenario, the fissile material in a reactor core–be it enriched uranium or plutonium–undergoes a spontaneous chain reaction, releasing a flash of aurora-blue light and a surge of neutron radiation; the gamma rays, neutrons and radioactive fission products emitted during criticality are highly dangerous to humans. …

      • FallOut FallOut

…….Again, a piece of the data jumped out at Dalnoki-Veress: the high prevalence of the chlorine-38 (CL-38) isotope. CL-38 has a half-life of 37 minutes, so would decay so rapidly as to be of little long-term safety concern. But it’s very presence troubled Dalnoki-Veress. Chlorine-37 (CL-37) is part of natural chlorine that is present in seawater in the form of ordinary table salt. In order to form CL-38, however, neutrons must interact with CL-37. Dalnoki-Verress did some calculations and came to the conclusion that the only possible way this neutron interaction could have occurred was the presence of transient criticalities in pockets of melted fuel in the reactor core. …

      Quote -

" Was there a criticality in #4 spent fuel pool or not? Was it just a thermal fire? Cobalt-60 is an activation product which comes from neutrons colliding with other materials. Steel? Soil? Is it from the reactors or the pools?"

" It has been alleged by Hatrick Penry and Shane Russell, who developed the Plume-gate idea, that there was a fire in the Unit 4 SFP. Joy is talking about fission. It’s not the same thing. You can have one without the other. Or you can have both. The plutonium escapes because of the heat, but the heat doesn’t have to be caused by a nuclear chain reaction in the pool."

" What I am trying to say is that cobalt-60 produced from the spent fuel pool structure in #4 is a completely different animal from the pool going dry and burning. It implies that there was some major nuclear event. Maybe neutron beams from #3 set off both #2 and #4, in that case. "

What is really sad in all of this is that Tesla had figured out how to tap free energy from the atmosphere. He had a vision that Man could progress to a higher level of awareness and development because his energy needs would be like air is to breath…free!

But, the Robber Barons of old saw to that not happening. Their kinfolk are seeing to the same not happening today, over 100 years later.
Such mental rot, such a pointless existence to physically stand in the way of the further development of a species to which they are part of! Satan created the perfect anti-human….

Wireless Electric (experiments) got shut down due to pressure from Westinghouse, whom was heavily interested in selling copper wire. $$$$$$$$$$ No profit in cheap wireless electric.

I remember watching the neutron beams early on in the disaster. There where 2 or 3 emanating from either #2 or #3. The beams shot straight up for days. Wish I had dates. There was talk then the other reactors could go critical from the neutrons. Some of Nuck's earlier videos showed the energy/radiation or whatever jumping from one reactor to the other. Really was terrifying. I thought the whole damn mess would go up. I watched the blaze in the background. We could not make out if it came from #4 or #5 or #6 There was definitely a fire at #4 because I watched it burn for days and days.

"because iodine does not dissolve as easily as cesium…"

Is this intended to mean the magic unicorn comes and takes the Cesium 137 away to lollypop-land, so we shouldn't need to worry about it anymore?

The problem is Mr average would believe that. They would not understand the crafty sentence structure used.

"You were poised to live with us but you failed Judas," Elder say.

We've survived numerous nuclear missile attacks on us by Judah, and each shot he hurled at us, our elders from space pulled off of us.

Now Judas has lost his blast shots and is finishing us off with his nuclear waste. Some estimates give us numbers in the billions that may die off from radiation related illnesses in the next couple of decades.

And to think of it, we were poised to live with our elders from space in peace forever more. Now Judas has had his way with us and we are all to be made sick from his nuclear waste.

All it would take to change things is for labor to STRIKE THEM OUT and take control of the issue of money and then hire some engineers to go in and shut that Hitachi-GE dirty bomb power plant down.

We are now at the very last of times to do anything to protect ourselves. If nothing happens, an extinction level event will cast its pale upon the human race. All because Judah has our purse in his hands.

Must we not pray that labor will save us here? Wars in 74 nations, all for free because we pay Judah to war our brothers and sisters.

Only if labor will STRIKE THEM OUT do we have a chance to live right. Do nothing and the power plant dirty bomb will blow this summer. Covering our world with radioactive waste forevermore. It is not by accident, that is the plan.

Here's some details about our kind elders from space:

The only way forward for humanity is to abandon warfare.

Fukushima's legacy will last forever, we should not waste ourselves bickering and droning each other to death.

All ercahnts of death can shove it.

    No nukes.

Radioactive iodine in vapor form can burst blood vessels in the delicate nose lining of mammals. Many Japanese citizens have been reporting nosebleeds since March 2011, especially their children. Sometimes the episodes of bleeding are difficult to treat medically and recur repeatedly.

I know someone in Texas who was born in the 1950s and he awoke with a severe nosebleed March 17, 2011. Never had a nosebleed before in his life and he wasn't on medication.

How do I know that person? Quite well actually. I am that particular nosebleed victim.

SP a beloved kid in my family, 14-almost 15, had a series of nosebleeds in Philly in fall 2011 that were ferocious. Was afraid we'd need an energency room visit, it took so long to stop, and kept reoccurring. Doctor visit reveled nothing, no need to cauterize.
      Pretty horrifying. Sorry for yours.

What the Japanese "say they are going to do" may likely change if the Utility Gangs that run the Country decide that they no longer want to do whatever it is for any reason…

We have seen this happen countless times since 3/11/11 and I predict we will continue to see it happen in the next 40 to 100 years that Fukushima's "cleanup" is projected to take. It is especially important to note that these same Utility Gangs will be making huge profits because all work gets funneled through them, so I expect them to get even more protective of what they allow to happen in this very lucrative "nuclear make work project". In reality, this is just another version of the Somali Pirate hostage scheme, where the rest of the world is being held hostage by the Japanese Utility Gangs control of Fukushima's ongoing radioactive pollution.

Because of the international concern over Fukushima, Japanese Leaders now realize that they might need to defend themselves (and their control over their own radioactive pollution). That is why we are now seeing many Japanese Leaders pushing for Japan to legalize the ownership of nuclear weapons, instead of secretly just having all the components to assemble any number of them at short notice should they be needed, a situation that many believe has existed for many years.

    Con't.
