Title: Cesium-134 and 137 activities in the central North Pacific Ocean after the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear power plant accident
Authors: J. Kameník, H. Dulaiova, K.O. Buesseler, S. M. Pike, and K. Štastná
Date Published: March 14, 2013
[...] The time series measurements at Station Aloha and in Honolulu confirm model predictions by Behrens et al. (2012) that the radiation plume would not reach the main Hawaiian Islands at least until two years from their release from F1-NPP. [...]
The easternmost detection of 134Cs within the North Pacific in June 2012 was north of the Hawaiian Islands at longitude 162W and latitude 40 N. [...]
Easternmost detection of Fukushima radiation plume in June 2012; Approx. 2,000 west of Oregon/California

A day late and a dollar short.
Meanwhile, they're putting boron in the milk in Hawai'i to slow the absorption of radioactivity in milk drinkers, like mostly SMALL CHILDREN!
And the information out of Woods Hole hasn't been too awfully accurate since this all started.
Next.

I missed that info, TIS. Do you have a link to the boron in the milk?

50 times more Uranium than normal was detected in air over Hawaii on the 21.03.2011. The fallout had already reached Hawaii way before this study states. The Uranium didn't arrive by itself.

I read somewhere recently that uranium was found in people's urine in Hawaii. Don't remember the source.

I think the airborne fallout was certainly deposited across the globe in the months March-June 2011; however, I think this particular study is focused on waterborne fallout, or how far the ocean currents, rather than air currents, carried these long-lived carcinogenic and mutagenic substances.

The abstract says:
"The radiation plume has not been detected over the past 1.5 yr at the main Hawaiian Islands due to the transport patterns across the Kuroshio and Kuroshio extension currents."
So the Kuroshio currents are protecting the main islands of Hawaii from radiation….SO FAR.

It stands to reason…the path the tsunami garbage goes..so will the radioactive water.

High cost of radiation panic
Japan's shutdown of nuclear energy after 2011 quake makes no environmental or economic sense

Looked up one of the authors, Robert Peter Gale in Wikipedia. He's a LEUKEMIA expert with a history of research funded by the NIH. Apparently, whatever he has found fit to live with, is way worse than even the cancers he diagnoses in others. Not to diminish any physical suffering for the afflicted — this is just a cancer of the soul. The widespread corruption in the scientific community is like a Nazi horror story. MIT even has "a TEPCO chair" and UC Berkeley "predicted" only a few hundred cancers at the most from out of this.

That's a good point. Debris will only go where the currents carry it.

The previous article cited (at the bottom of article above), was dated APRIL 3, 2011, and said that "Ocean may be 50% of EPA's maximum contaminant level for drinking water." That was just three weeks after the meltdown! Does that mean that the ocean water just off JAPAN was already that contaminated? And what would that mean for the ocean water once the currents would reach HAWAII two years later (= now!!); and how can/should the additional contamination since then be computed in? It's daunting to even contemplate. Does anyone know how to even ESTIMATE this?
