P. Bossew, German Federal Office for Radiation Protection, PLUTONIUM EMISSION FROM THE FUKUSHIMA ACCIDENT (pdf), 2013 (emphasis added): While much has since been published on environmental contamination and exposure to radio-iodine and radio-caesium, little is known about releases of plutonium […] The inability to cool the fuel led to melting of parts of the reactor cores (which parts exactly, is not yet well known) […] [Causes of the containment] ruptures and leaks […] are not entirely clarified […] explosion seems to have produced further structural damage in the containments, at the one hand, and on the other hand released large amounts of radionuclides into the environment. […] the fraction of Pu released into the environment can be expected to be higher [than] atmospheric releases only. Certainly some Pu has been released with liquid effluents and discharged into the ocean. […] The liquid discharges certainly also contained Pu. […]

Modern Marvels History Channel (at 19:45 in): It is now 28 hours since the accident at Three Mile Island began. The men in the control room have no way of looking into the reactor…. it now seems clear some of the 36,000 slender tubes holding the uranium fuel have cracked, this is allowing radioactivity to escape into the reactor coolant water. It is imperative operators know how much radioactivity is now in the coolant. Too much, and the nuclear chain reaction could restart… Foreman Ed Hauser agrees to risk his life to take the readings. This is allowing radioactivity to enter the coolant water. He is in for an even greater scare when he draws the coolant water sample. The water from the reactor should be clear; instead he stares at a yellowish, fizzing liquid… It actually vibrates in his hand.

  • "The water from the reactor should be clear; instead he stares at a yellowish, fizzing liquid… It actually vibrates in his hand."

Freaky – nuclear is like another life form, evil to the core

    • Angela_R

Obvious, the headline you have quoted "The water from the reactor should be clear; instead he stares at a yellowish fizzing liquid…It actually vibrates in his hand"

That quote, as far as I can ascertain, actually comes from the history channel video and is about 3 Mile Island, not Fukushima. Its correlation to Fukushima is not explained.

      • Sickputer

Speaking of TMI NPP Unit 2…the entire amount of contaminated water over the lifetime of cleanup was estimated at 10.6 megalitres (2.8 million gallons):

"TMI-2 cleanup operations produced over 10.6 megalitres of accident-generated water that was processed, stored and ultimately evaporated safely."

        http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/safety-and-security/safety-of-plants/three-mile-island-accident/

SP: Tepco estimates 300 tons of contaminated water (80,000 gallons) leaks every day into the Pacific. We suspect that number is very conservative, but even at that flow rate it easily surpasses ten TMI disasters every year.

Far worse in environmental effects since Fukushima waste water is uncontrolled for the most part and not "evaporated safely" (which is a big lie anyway by the NRC…radioisotopes escaping from contaminated water heated to evaporation stage is certainly not safe).

TMI was a really bad polluting accident and the spin factor on its health effects was a masterpiece by the state, federal, and local governments. Tricks they learned at TMI on media control has proven fairly ineffective in the Information Era, but they compensate for the public alarm by generating soothing official news releases.

Government spokespersons (Japan and USA) assert nobody died from radiation despite highly suspicious deaths of the plant manager and a sailor on the USS Ronald Reagan. You can expect later they will soften that stance and admit some deaths.

What happened at TMI is now happening at Fukushima. This is what out of control Nuclear Reactor Core Meltdowns do to water and the surrounding environment and always will.

They all behave exactly the same way.. all of them.. 🙁

        • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

Nuclear Meltdowns are all the same and elected lawmakers need to be now thrown in jail who work inside government.. for not shutting them all down via the use of the Word Craft law.

Their only priority is too protect the general public and not any Nuclear industry.

Heads should roll and now.. 🙂

We are concerned about the recent troubles the site has been experiencing .

news.. I remember when admin would intercede and post, when someone would re-post old comments, like Fallout. Weeks ago religion got top billing and people spilled forth with no action from admin. This morning a internet search for ENE I got "Sorry this page unavailable", pasted on the ENE website front page.

Things that go bump in the night.

            • AFTERSHOCK AFTERSHOCK

lot going on weeks ago, sally. Keep in mind, there's a complete news blackout occurring right now.

You're doubtless aware, the Japanese government has criminalized independent reporting on Fukushima. This has not only resulted in a marked reduction of independent analysis and reporting on this catastrophe, but also a reduction in ENENews reports/stories. As Admin has no control over this, it's up to us to do more in the way of research. Some are already filling-in the info gap, in their own way.

I should also compliment the site's members for how they've been conducting themselves over the last two weeks. Without any appreciable intervention, seems we've come to a greater sense of obligation towards preserving the site's integrity. Most everyone's doing their best to avoid cluttering articles with off-topic commentary and they're doing a stellar job of treating one another with respect. That's us – the members of this site – doing this!

Aside from the current set of bugaboos, the site's still doing its magic…

              • clamshellernh clamshellernh

We have done a marvelous job here in the past few weeks , we also have cleared the air too.
I agree with all being said .
One thing does trouble me and that's the news blackout , everyone seems to be noticing all over the web also .
But rehashing is ok because it pulls out the research end and that's mighty helpful to all of us and all of our visitors .
I have had trouble though getting things out and being moderated .
I was not aware of such being done here and I have heard from others elsewhere that we are heavily moderated ,some being very paranoid of this site as well and some very heavy hitters in the anti nuke world are speaking
I disagreed much with some but now I am revisiting that idea . Some thing is very strange going on , please don't tell me it's me because I've been at this for many years
Another thing we should be thinking of is how are we to keep this alive . Do we have back up being thought about ?
There are discussion groups we should have in place that are encrypted and ready to launch .
I also have been in discussion about this with others .
I am being a realist here not a negative Nellie .
What will we do without us I ask ?
I will take this to off topic for further discussion and planning .
When at occupy we had sites that were as private as on could be in our virtual world so I will like I say take it to OT for a SHTF scenario . Goddess forbid !
Please give thoughts to this matter

If not we cannot let the followers tell folks that this is our clean option .
Let our voices be heard louder and louder .

clam, thanks for being a committed activist. Always. Just wondered if you had looked into Dane Wigington on geoengineeringwatch.org. He is FABULOUS on all things chemtrails, haarp, methane release, oxygen depletion, UV-B releases, species extinctions, warming, lies on the weather channel…. He really has a handle on everything. Look him up if you have not already.

Thanks Clam for your commitment, and thanks WNTF..I would second your recommendation for Dane's site. I am gathering evidence that atmospheric radioactive particles and the nano-metallic geoengineering particles are interacting. I have a radiation detector, and have noticed a correlation. On days of heavy chemtrails, and the following day or 2, a prompt spike in the outdoor radiation levels seems to be the pattern. Just last weekend, there were 3 heavy chemtrail days in a row. Radiation levels have been elevated in the 3 days since.I am logging the daily readings and sky observations to see long-term patterns.

I seem to remember that there is a correlation between cosmic radiation and geoengineering of the weather when cosmic radiation is higher.

This is from a person monitoring radiation readings in Longmont, CO:

"Hi! Thanks for stopping by. Yeah we do have a fair bit here because of the altitude, uranium, radon, and Rocky Flats… for starters. 🙂 What's really interesting is that I also have a SIDS system (solar storm) running and you can see many of the radiation peaks coincide with spikes on SIDS. Until I started running these together I never realised just how much solar radiation plays a part at altitude."

Chemtrails enhance communication which is lessened during solar storms and solar flares.

“…The US Military planned to create a ‘telecommunications shield’ in the ionosphere, reported in 13-20 August 1961, Keesings Historisch Archief (K.H.A.). This shield would be created ‘in the ionosphere at 3,000 km height, by bringing into orbit 350,000 million copper needles, each 2-4 cm long [total weight 16 kg], forming a belt 10 km thick and 40 km wide, the needles spaced about 100 m apart.’ This was designed to replace the ionosphere ‘because telecommunications are impaired by magnetic storms and solar flares.’ The US planned to add to the number of copper needles if the experiment proved to be successful. This plan was strongly opposed by the Intentional Union of Astronomers….”

"…One might compare the abnormal energetic state of the Earth and its atmosphere to a car battery which has become overcharged with the normal flow of energy jammed up, resulting in hot spots, electrical arcing, physical cracks and general turbulence as the pent-up energy tries to find some place to go."
“In a second analogy, Schaefer says ‘Unless we desire the death of our planet, we must end the production of unstable particles which are generating the earth's fever. A first priority to prevent this disaster would be to shut down all nuclear power plants and end the testing of atomic weapons, electronic warfare and 'Star Wars'.’ Meanwhile, the military builds its biggest ionospheric heater yet, to deliberately create more instabilities in a huge plasma layer — the ionosphere — and to rev up the energy level of charged particles. …”

that's the nature of a self-moderating site, sally. Hopefully it doesn't come as a surprise, but personalities, motives and agenda will always lead to differences and outright conflict. That's the human condition at play.

I've emphasized the last two weeks as being comparatively civilized, to what immediately preceded that period. That several 'members' have taken their leave was due more to their own lack of discipline, than anything else.

I think there will always be conflicts with some personalities, but normally these are usually minor, but some do get a little heated and uncomfortable.

These are pretty demanding times when we here are attempting to deliver such a dire message to the general "we are asleep" world.

I hope your wise elders realize nothing really changes without some uncomfortable conflict/debate taking place when required.

Surely their long history bears out witness to the above circumstances..

Johnny Blade, Kinda new here so I don't know all about what transpired before I arrived. After reading your post and I kinda feel like I'm intruding but still I want to express my feelings. I can't imagine the pain you must feel after all you have been through and continue to experience. I have no real concrete suggestions about how to cure only some words I think are helpful. First and foremost is that it is life as a struggle that we live, otherwise it is not living. Secondly, we live it and that matters. Thirdly, there are destructive and demonic forces influencing others we will to interact with but that is not us living those are simply manifestations of our own projection. You have a sharp mind, I can tell. And with that intelligence you can separate the chaff to maximize the time you all have together living your life. It may sound cliche but having loved ones and a positive outlook can provide a measure of contentment, that feeling unknown to demonic forces and a healing force with no limits. Look inside to find, stand outside to see. Best wishes.

I won't say the others are mistaken about baking soda and cancer – it is a condition that thrives in an acid environment – but there's more to wellness than a "miracle cure" or a "simple" (not) operation.

I AM glad to hear you got the critical care taken care of. If you like, there are some ways of trying to work with your body to recover your balance – the body tends towards homeostasis (balance) in its ever going cycle of self deconstruction and repair. You can probable get the books on Detox, Trans Fat Survival, and Male and Female Hormones by Dr. Bob DeMaria, from the library. Preview them on Amazon. His plan is 2 years overall, geared to be cheap, and get to the underlying problems. Like fat deficiency, for example! (I'll let you read to see just what that means)

The one herbal remedy I have heard good things about against cancer, for about 20 years, is Renee Cassie (sp?) tea, sold now as Essiac Tea. Was illegal in USA for a time, and sourced from Canada then.

Also, in naturopathic med, optimal vitamin D3 levels are in the low 40s on lab work. An MD would say it's too high. Low D and Iodine, and Calcium all play a role in various cancers. Interesting that the latter 2 things are impacted by radiation, and I suspect, would help overcome exposure.

Try aboutclay.com re: adsorbing radiation and toxins with food grade bentonite clay. Best of health and shalom!

Tepco reports: removal of fuel rods from SFP 4 to be suspended from 7/1 to mid September in order to allow inspection of condition of cranes used for removal. Of course, many say this could be an excuse to cover-up some other pressing matter that arose, that they are not able to discuss.

Either ways, the fact that they go through the trouble of announcing 'suspension of fuel rod removal' does make one think that at least there really are fuel rods that exist in that pool that needs removal. ( same with that stupid idea of removing spent fuel from SFP4 then placing them back up into SFP 6 … the idea is so unbelievably dumb, that one can't help but think – it could only be true, and so there must be fuel in SFP4)

    http://www.tepco.co.jp/nu/fukushima-np/removal4u/index-j.html

Sorry, I don't mean to get into an argument about SFP4 here, my point for posting this here was to see if anybody had a sense about what 'pressing matter' might have arose at Daiichi that is causing the suspension in schedule – or is it summer vacation ?

Bo, just speculation but I have a feeling the inner icewall and those silly tubes they are pounding may have found some hot stuff…..baffling. Or the ground is getting real soft and more shifty.

    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

bo, lets not call SFP4 an argument, but rather an ongoing enlightenment as we review past and present information. If the information coming out initially is now considered wrong, then the even smaller amount of information coming out now is highly subject to revision!

      • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Its always good to get a feel for the magnitude of the situation. One big question is will they be able to remove any fuel from any of the Units 1 through 4. Its really a key question in the overall catastrophe.

a high definition photo of unit 4. Note they managed to hang blue nets/tarps in the blast hole that would otherwise allow a view of the fuel pool
        http://www.ratical.org/radiation/Fukushima/images/111211eHR.html

These floors are not your average 10 ft high floors. Each floor is about 25 feet and the roof beams that fell into the pool fell from some 50 feet up. Thats a LOT of energy/damage inflicted. Just imagine a ton or two of steel falling on an automobile from 50 feet….total destruction…then imagine the condition of the fuel assemblies…

        • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

bo, I happen to believe the photos showing water/chemicals in SFP4. That does not mean the fuel is in any condition to be removed at this time. Some of it may be! I hope you dont mind me repeating this stuff. One has to decide which words to believe and which ones not to believe because there is a conflict in reports.

in this video, you can see massive quantity of debris…metal, concrete, pipes etc. In a few images you can see what Arnie Gundersen believes are the exposed tops of fuel racks in the lower left of the image, just under the two diagonal pipes.

Which words to believe; The ones suggesting that the fuel is a mess and things are really bad, or the ones suggesting that all is well and the worst of the disaster is being methodically cleaned up?

Its perhaps reasonable to recall that not only Gundersen, but Jaczko, the NRC and TEPCO believed at one time the pool was partly/totally dry!

He said all water had apparently boiled away from the cooling pool at Reactor No. 4,

When exposed to air, fuel rods first emit hydrogen gas – apparently the cause of an explosion late Monday that blew a 26-foot-wide hole in the side of the reactor building.

On Wednesday night, Mr. Jaczko reiterated his earlier statement and added that commission representatives in Tokyo had confirmed that the pool at No. 4 was empty. He said Tokyo Electric and other officials in Japan had confirmed that.

The loss of fuel pool cooling water at unit 4 is classified as a level 3 while unit 1 is upgraded to a level 5

TEPCO further stated that "the fuel rods in the Unit 4 pool had released caesium-134 and -137 in the process of being damaged"

On 11 June, it was discovered that the water level in the spent fuel pool was only one third of normal, and only part of the fuel rods were covered with water. This was probably the cause of the high radiation levels measured.

Jaczko reveals during congressional testimony that the NRC believes very strongly that the pool is dry, and appears to be relieved of his position soon thereafter.

            • We Not They Finally

I'm just a layman, no tech background. But that building has always looked like the bombed-out Murrah Building in Oklahoma City! Difficult to even think that anything inside it might be in tact. Then TEPCO produced a video about the supposed removal of the rods that showed the (alleged) inside of building as pristine clean and orderly, with fuel rods neatly stacked. It was surreal — completely UN-believable.

I'm getting confused again… I thought there was that monster thread that discussed perhaps NRC confused SFP 4 and equipment pool, that equipment pool at #4 dried up

              • So true Bo. other #4 pools or even the reactor might have also have dried out..

There are at least three sources of melt down and outs in each building.

              • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

bo, SFP4 is pivotal because the Japanese ambassador said the survival of Japan and humanity depend on it not melting down. The appearance of safe fuel removal gives confidence.

If lies are going to occur, its going to be around SFP4. What can they say about unit 3? Cosmetic damage?

                • bo bo

I know it's fubar either scenario ( MOX in equipment pool burned up ) but I just get confused when they bother to include within the SFP4 fuel removal kabuki play this extended break… that seems like an unnecessary lie. If it was just all an act, why take such a long break…? And why such a stupid plan to move those rods in SFP6?! Just so stupid it almost sounds real.

bo, no need to call yourself confused.

Count me among those who think it is more likely than not that the fuel is (was?) being removed as claimed.

                    Why?

If one pays close attention to the interior photos of SFP4 and the large grey superstructure, the dimensions and details of the superstructure on the interior shots are consistent with the dimensions and details of the superstructure on the exterior shots.

And there are probably not two of the those superstructures in the world. Only one.

Thus the interior photos are unlikely forgeries. Thus the fuel is likely being removed as claimed.

                    • humptydumpty humptydumpty

I seem to recall Arnie Gundersen thinking they have had to halt the fuel rod removal from SFP4 because many of the assemblies were probably damaged and therefore too dangerous to remove.

It seems likely they just refilled the pool after it had gone partially dry, and then made the announcement for PR effect that they were going to carefully remove the fuel rods. The photos were probably heavily doctored (easily done these days). Did anybody really believe that task could be performed (except the gullible mass-market news media)? I doubt anybody here on this site did.

Moving them to SFP6 would likely be a cost-cutting measure, or else due to orders from "on high" Abe planning to restart other NPPs and therefore to "preserve" all useable fuel rods for future use, to be moved to a new destination later. Since they had retrofit R4 for MOX fuel, some of that may have been stored in the SFP. So they removed all the intact assemblies, and they're leaving the damaged ones in place until…who knows?

                • They can and will say whatever they want to, because no one is checking on the truthfulness of what they claim.

                  No one cares.

No other industry can get away with this kind of blatant deception and denial, even outright lies without going bankrupt due to the overwhelming number of successful lawsuits.

Jebus, there are three things that struck me; 1) no thermal image of the blob (could be the wrong camera angle?) 2) its not under the equipment pool. 3) reactor and esp SFP are the hottest locations. The blob appears to be 20 feet wide and up to 8 feet thick. Could there be a massive copper heat exchanger or other that melted down? An explosion was heard in the suppression chamber. Maybe fuel was in the reactor after all and went critical blowing out a port and ejecting its innards?

"do your eyes see, or do they speculate?"

I'll answer that with a question.

Which is more speculative, one who describes what one see's, or one who tells the other that what they both see, is speculation?

Again, the eyes can't speculate, they can only see.

If you can't trust them, you are blind…

                    • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Jebus, if both see something that is speculation, not truth, for example a magic show, then its less speculative to not trust your eyes, but instead remind each other the eye can deceive.

Actually, your answer leads me to speculate that you think the blob is corium from the equipment pool. But you didnt respond to any of my points above. You have to be more direct, because inference leaves too much for interpretation. Spell it out.

The truth as I see it, is that the eyes are nothing without the interpretation of the mind. Thus we are always dealing with subjective reality. We wish for objective, but it is never totally obtained. Even/never more true than in quantum theory…for example.

Thus, I see that everyone here has a different assumed reality on what happened/is happening. You are no exception. You assume something about the blob at Unit 4 (even though you dont spell it out). If you have a distaste for others/my imaginings and speculations, well you are not alone!

Its irksome that some of the brightest, or rather well educated, seem to skirt cogent issues, in order to keep with their pre conceived idea of reality. For now, none of us know the total reality. What the eye sees is conditioned by the mind, which is where our subjective and personal reality exists.

I'm no energy expert, so please, explain to me like I'm 5 y/o anything technical?

                      MOX?
                      Corium?
Not the same thing? Something a reactor ought not contain?

I am also confused how the speculative weapons grade Plutonium may have played a part, as I have no ideas about how it could have been stored in the reactors (undercover as part of energy production program of course).

Could Pu be in a level just for it, created perhaps underneath the official power company buildings, or are tunnels perhaps underground connecting the reactors, so this weapons grade Pu could be moved unseen, yet be insulated by X amount of dirt and concrete from the outside world AND the active reactor part?

Could this explain the multiple explosions that happened after containments failed? I assume one big bang per containment is sufficient to fail it? Thanks for any explanations.

                  • Jebus, you got a vote for corium melting out of the wall of #4 here.. who cares what pool it came from? TEPCO is denying all of it. They even deny #4 blew up.. saying a pipe from #3 caused the building to disintegrate and 4 foot thick walls to burst out.

TEPCO of course, is denying anything melted out anywhere, and #3 was just a hydrogen explosion, so that is an option too.

Lots of people believe TEPCO and everything they say. So sad..

hehe, In a soccer match, when the point man goes down in flames, the wingman always sneaks in to assume the position…

I'm sure you remember too Dr, the timing of the wingman's appearance…

          • Maybe those 'pipes' are really fuel rods, as in #3? They look the same..

        • I seem to remember Tepco saying in an earlier description regarding the removals, it would require special new equipment, utmost caution and monitoring… and something about a spent rod basically has to be lifted straight up through any damaged racks so as not to touch the surrounding rods. Didn't they say they would begin with the easiest spent pool storage first? Next, they published a schedule and further reports of how many they'd removed of the totals. Were they removing them from the building that now has the blue tarp?

Well. I would think the building and what's in it is certainly not "vertically aligned" so I guess it's pretty much an impossible task to continue. Since the beginning of the removal project, additional various earthquakes have occurred, live cams shake at times, steam/smoke/gasses, changing colors….

(Sorry, I'm probably asking something already explained, but can't always get a page to load all the way to the bottom of the posts here.)

          • Now I'm seeing the additional posts while I was doing mine. Thanks everyone who is trying to get a clear picture/timeline and adding to this discussion.

Biggest and most tedious connect the dots task I've ever been involved in….in my whole life. 🙁

          • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

LastChants, Arnie Gundersen makes the point that the earthquake was so violent it sloshed out several meters of water and certainly must have rattled and damaged the fuel racks. Concrete and debris in small enough pieces would have settled everywhere and not be removable. So thats the scenario. But there is the massive new structure. I think it was an engineering feat. I think its there for a reason. The original building sunk…how many inches? 30? And tilted. Its reasonable that reinforcing that structure is a lost cause. Its so radioactive, workers cant get inside. Instead, they poured a brand new foundation and built the massive new structure. I imagine them installing long bolts to suspend the vulnerable pool which was not considered safe for large earthquakes. There it will sit until the fuel cools over years and they can figure out how to remove it.

            • Thanks Code! (Not able to load vids or U-tubes) Really gaining a lot of critical knowledge from poring through enews threads and photos and seeing so much info that fills in my gaps.

Tepco has tried to pretty up the buildings and grounds where they can. A shallow facade at best. They have no idea of just how much individual sleuthing people here have done. (They probably do have people lurking here though) They should secretly be impressed at the work members have accomplished.

              • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

LastChants, pretty structures…but more than facade. There is obviously serious engineering going on. It may not be remediation like we would like it, but I call those new structures major feats of engineering, and at great cost to the souls at work there.

The structure over unit four is major. It could have any kind of tooling inside to deal with the fuel. My point is only that the fuel must be in bad shape, and its possible/likely a spent fuel fire was even the source of hydrogen for the explosion, as one calculation suggests, and as was once thought. Otherwise, hydrogen would have to make it from the already blown up unit 3. I would imagine the unit 3 explosions would have exhausted the hydrogen, and destroyed the pipe connections.

          • Goldencat Goldencat

I remember Arnie saying something like "a big game of pick up sticks"…

The bent ones would take longer to remove, yes. I suppose the conditions in the pool and the stability of the structure guide the removal process.

Even if "difficult" I question why an 18 month delay before *starting* removal process. Didn't Arnie go, give his expert opinion, and say "get the Pu rods out NOW and somewhere SAFE"?

Has anyone got a good source for what these isos do to our basic biology? I'm trying to put together a rough protocol – you will see a bit in my posts responding to cancer and radiation sickness concerns.

All I know is Pu is dangerous if inhaled, cesium if ingested, iodine touched or inhaled. Iodine supplements help the thyroid – Cal-Mg I theorize would help with Cesium/Strontium exposure likewise. If you can fill the cell receptors with good content, they won't absorb the radio versions. And ingesting bentonite clay (not as icky as u think!)adsorbs it from your body so it is harmless.

It is supposed to help animals too. Again, source your info from aboutclay.com and follow the trails that apply to your concerns. Also a good blog/community.

Then exposure of said silent investors may need to occur, to shame them into positive action. As we had to with BP and the MAconda Oil disaster in the Gulf. When they feel public humiliation and that their privileged, secret lives are about to become really public (and poorer) they will help. They won't want to become scapegoated by the others in the industry.

Whatever help is possible by then…

    • razzz razzz

I have to wait for the English translation. Can only guess that TEPCO has run into problems because: The weight removed has caused the blown building to float and realign; they unloaded the pool unevenly and it tilts now; lowering fuel from 4 and raising it back up to 6 for storage is to problematic; the remaining fuel assemblies are to damaged for typical removal; Unit 3 is irradiating anyone in the near vicinity or the site is becoming so radioactive to be unworkable…of course when working under Murphy's Law, it could be all the above and more.

Just picture three melted through reactors still three years later unapproachable. What do you think the cooling system looks like?
At some point the water intake to the ruined reactors must also become unapproachable. The nuclear process creates plutonium. Mox fuel or not. Three reactors melting on an old riverbed that still has an underground river flowing under it. No doubt tidal. Salt water lapping around melted cores disolving plutonium and other isotopes into the ocean or at least nuclear coolant spilling out to the oceans. Radioactive isotopes released into the food chain. And all they want to do is dance.

Reactor sites are never really cleaned up. They ship parts of the plant around for long term storage to other locations. Even if they remove the contaminated topsoil, it has to be buried for storage somewhere else. At San Onofre they are already talking about moving the spent fuel to an inland location for long term storage. Moving it doesn't mean it is gone for good just sitting in someone else's backyard. And if there were leaks, there are always leaks, you have the groundwater table to contend with or the seaside/lakeside contamination or both like at Daiichi. Not much you can do about it except monitor it and put warning signs up.

Hanford with all its problems is still the military's dumping ground for radioactive structures. Submarine's old reactors and part of the hull surrounding it are cutoff and stored at a nuke graveyard on a portion of the Hanford site.

Radioactivity is forever, at least in your lifetime and kids lifetimes even though cleanup is based on acceptable manmade limits of radiation which as we know there is no such thing as acceptable when it comes to radiation.

The DU should have been returned to the uranium mines instead being aerosoled all over the cotton picking planet. But I surmise it would cost more money rather than continue the chain of value added profits. Like processing fuel the steps are each profitable. Once the value is stripped it is used as a weapon, likewise it goes for us. Stripped of value and then expendable.

        • razzz razzz

Okay, let's say they dilute separated uranium with dirt and send it back to the mine it came from, what do you do with all the manmade created plutonium (and others), that never existed before man started fracturing atoms? Measured in the hundreds of tons now.

Plutonium is not really a daughter product of uranium but created by a neutron capture by uranium to form a transuranic isotope (plutonium and many others), all manmade.

"…Other heavy nuclei that are fissile (implying thermal fission) are U-233, Pu-239 and Pu-241. Each of these is produced artificially in a nuclear reactor, from the fertile nuclei Th-232 (in certain reactors), U-238 and Pu-240 respectively. U-235 is the only naturally occurring isotope which is thermally fissile, and it is present in natural uranium at a concentration of 0.7 percent. U-238 and Th-232 are the main naturally-occurring fertile isotopes…"
          http://www.world-nuclear.org/info/Nuclear-Fuel-Cycle/Introduction/Physics-of-Nuclear-Energy/\

Remember, uranium doesn't split, it fractures. It can fracture into about 200 different combinations of all new radioactive elements. It starts as random fracturing but there are only a set number of combinations uranium can fracture into before repeating, some more, some less, until you end up with a large inventory of new radioactive elements besides transgenics being created which are radioactive elements created by neutron capture ex. PU.

          • razzz razzz

            It's fundamentally madness…

            'Fission Products'

"You may now realize that all of the radioactive materials which escape from an atomic bomb when it explodes, are basically the broken bits of uranium atoms. These are new radioactive materials, called "fission products", which are created by the splitting of uranium atoms. There are hundreds of them. They all have different names, and different chemical and biologically properties. Most of them did not exist in nature before the advent of nuclear technology.

You see, uranium travels in many disguises. In every sample of uranium ore, one finds radium — but radium is, in a certain sense, just a transformation of uranium. Speaking loosely, one could say that it is a disguised form of uranium. It is just one of the many elements in the chain of decay. Similarly with polonium. Similarly with radon gas. These are all just different manifestations of uranium, so to speak, resulting from radioactive decay.

And similarly with the fallout from atomic bombs; all those radioactive materials which are released by nuclear explosions — such as iodine-131, strontium-90, cesium-137, krypton-85, and all the rest — they are all broken bits of uranium atoms. They are additional disguises for uranium, resulting from nuclear fission…"

Had a misspelling at an inopportune time, transgenics = transuranics or …until you end up with a large inventory of new radioactive elements besides transuranics being created which are radioactive elements created by neutron capture ex. PU.

          • Bungalow Phil Bungalow Phil

No argument there with the science, spot on razzz. Considering it remains the bulk of the material (DU) and is the longest lived (correct me here) 4.5 billion yrs, it remains in my mimd the most urgent simply because of the longevity. Many of the other by products excepting those with half lives over 100,000 yrs. no less deadly, will radiate to stability within a few hundred years. Spreading this death around like in Iraq, and here in Cali is beyond stupid. Mining is still limited and costs are rising for uranium so it is a hot commmodity, ergo profitable ergo why it is being stockpiled. One thing I have deduced if I am wrong correct me here. The more powerful the energy dissapated the shorter the life, the less it irradiates the longer it lives. Just throwing that out there.

            • razzz razzz

Yes, the shorter the half life of radioisotopes the more actively they are decaying and the more dangerous they are. Some daughter products (by products) of fission have half lives of milliseconds and are extremely deadly. Some half lives measured in minutes, hours, days, weeks, years, centuries and so on.

Typically, you multiply half live x 10 to get the entire decay life of a radioisotope. Though I have read with some radioisotopes, x 20 can be used. A decay chain includes byproducts which can be just as potent as the original daughter product until eventually morphing and finally into a stable element.

Plutonium you need a couple weeks or month to be able to get a good count on its slow decay rate. That is why it takes so long to affect a body when inhaled because of its slow but sure and powerful decay rate. Unless you are exposed to a massive quantity at once or a particle lodges in a critical location.

Complicating is that a body can't tell the difference during intake of some radionuclides and can incorporate or store them in body functions resulting in radiation posioning. PU analogue for or acts like iron, cesium analogue for potassium, strontium analogue for calcium, certain radioactive-iodines [37 known isotopes of iodine, only one is not radioactive(is stable)] can replace stable iodine…you get the idea as this is radioactivity basics 101 which if more people understood, who knows what might happen to the nuclear industry.

    • We Not They Finally

Christina Consolo ("radchick") restores a little sanity by suggesting that everyone treat themselves like they are already encountering cancer. Just meaning that diet and supplements actually do help ward off the worst and much of it is AFFORDABLE: like liposomal vitamin C –make it yourself at home and it is 80% absorbable as compared to 20% absorbability of capsules. Dr. Mark Sircus says that just a little baking soda every day in a little apple cider vinegar will keep you body alkaline enough to resist cancer. We just discovered an amazing natural fruit from India, called AMLA — that's Indian gooseberry. Each fruit (the size of a small tomato, but green) has the vitamin C of 30 oranges, but it does much much more against major diseases. Also filter water — reverse osmosis, available cheaply in many health food outlets at water machines. And fruits and vegetables may be less safe OF COURSE, but they still have valuable nutrients to stay healthy that you won't find in meats or grains.

Way better to do at least some of the above than to do nothing.

The health care system cannot absorb the SHTF that is on our doorsteps now. So let's protect ourselves and educate others best we can. It actually IS possible at low cost.

      • That's the way I'm approaching it WNTF, (and some friends and relatives are too). We're sharing technical knowledge, experience, tool skills and abilities so we can better coordinate later without each person having to re-invent the wheel.

We do have different choices according to what's affordable, practical, or doable where we live…and can step up from a basic maintenance diet to more serious.

I've been doing my own liposomal recipe and not quite ready to discuss my observations yet in the radiation effects thread. I'm noticing changes for the better so far, so will keep on being my own lab rat. 🙂

Google Russia , Ukraine and palladium ..could end up being more precious than gold . I'll post the story if I can find it again for perusal here .

  • Mutation in California, how sad is this…….

    http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/07/01/rare-condition-causes-california-twins-to-be-born-without-eyes/?intcmp=latestnews

    Fox 40 Sacramento

A California couple is struggling to make ends meet after their twins, Jameson and Jackson, were born without eyes two months ago.

The birth defect is the result of a condition known as anophthalmia, which affects approximately 780 births in the United States each year. Causes of the defect may include genetic mutations and abnormal chromosomes, but some researchers believe that other environmental factors may also play a role.

Because of their condition, Jameson was born with only his right eye, while his brother Jackson, who also has a club foot, can’t see at all.

Now, parents Summer Hollingsworth and Michael Lopez are trying to give their children the best medical care possible. Based in Stockton, they make weekly trips to San Francisco to see specialists, but the back-and-forth trips are proving to be financial burden, as both parents are currently unemployed.

“They see an endocrinologist, a neurologist, and three different ophthalmologist specialists. It is very expensive; we travel back and forth,” Hollingsworth told Fox 40 Sacramento.

Those responsible for these disasters will never admit, or disclose the true extent of their ineptitude and crimes against humanity.

Neither will they be held accountable, or it be known they are responsible for the horrors upon us and to come.

It's not a stretch to imagine these twisted people orchestrating a false flag radiological event near/upwind of any of the three ongoing nuclear disasters. This would provide the ultimate bogeyman, misdirection and radiological fallout to give them the cover necessary to escape accountability.

If your responsible for a global disaster and don't want to be found out, devise a larger disaster of the same sort to cover your trail.

Something screwy about this whole Fukushima thing. No mobilization by any nation, not a peep from the WH. Ongoing massive fraud, backdoor dealings, Mafia involvement. Forbes writers and other MSM stating no deaths now or ever. Coverups, media blackout. Aging nuclear plants too costly to retro-fit. Remedial BS designed to do nothing. It all stinks. I know there was destruction, photos in HR clearly depict craters where buildings once stood, tsunami damage? All too much to swallow.
It just trips a wire in my mind. I have seen enough and read enough to read between the lines.

Many of us cannot "get into their heads" because HOW they think is so strange/frightening{sickening}, We are repulsed and unable to hold our thoughts/compassion and go forward into their head any further.

Similar to someone who would be a child/animal abuser, I just cannot get past my core emotions to "see it from their point of reference"
Sorry, just cannot go there in my head. Just typing it, its too emotional for me. As has been said by others=EVIL.

When I woke up this morning, I realized WHY there is such a vast
    SILENCE about FD-NPP.

For decades, humans have been splitting atoms, all the while generating lethal wastes that are NOT all out of the biosphere.

Bear with me as I digress a wee bit…..think now about the implications of what the Supreme Court has become and the latest Hobby Lobby case/ruling. All of us should be very pissed that our country is now no longer a representative democracy, a government for the people by the people.

    Got it?

So, what happens if a religion is a pacifist one? Shouldn't those folks be allowed to NOT pay taxes if those same monies support a global militarized industrial complex?

Oh, man. That would be a doozy for the Supremes to handle.

Folks, the very fabric of our delicate neuro-hormonal selves is being altered by the invisible rays/particles that the war mongers wish to keep happily producing and dispersing.

The Hobby Lobby cases proves how insane we have become.

Waging peace is the hardest lesson humans never learned.

The IRS will now resume targetting
    "war tax resistors."

They fear us more than terrorists.

    Go figure.

  • Nick

Let me clarify… If a religious corporation is pacifist, then the members ought to be able to resist war taxation.

The silence about FD=NPP is all about corporate control of the planet.

  • Nick

    Now, back to plutonium.

As the awol cores and spent fuel bundles sizzle and pop on into eternity, the earth's biosphere gets worse, atom by atom, and molecule by molecule.

In humans radioactivity affects cells and molecules in various ways, none of it conducive to healthy genetic reproduction or basic mitosis.

We are all grappling with an onslaught of atoms that are MANMADE and absolutely NOT okay for our biology.

On a micro level, no make that at a quantum level our very souls are altered as the shared electrons jumping around aromatic carbon/indole rings get bumped by wayward decaying atomic nuclei.

Think serotonin to melatonin neurohormonal cycles. Hence sleep patterns are altered.

When you realize how scary this shit is, you will hug a loved one
and shake you head in disgust as you ponder the imponderable.

The only hope left the planet long ago, along with our sanity.

There is an extraordinary push by certain individuals to extol the wonders of thorium-fueled nuclear reactors. In fact, so concerted is this push that some blame me for preventing the ongoing expansion of such technology. So here are the facts about thorium for those who are interested.

The U.S. tried for 50 years to create thorium reactors, without success. Four commercial thorium reactors were constructed, all of which failed. And because of the complexity of the problems enumerated below, thorium reactors are, by an order of magnitude, more expensive than uranium-fueled reactors.

The longstanding effort to produce these reactors cost the U.S. taxpayers billions of dollars, while billions more dollars are still required to dispose of the highly toxic waste emanating from these failed trials.

The truth is that thorium is not a naturally fissionable material. It is therefore necessary to mix thorium with either enriched uranium 235 (up to 20-percent enrichment) or plutonium, both of which are innately fissionable, to get the process going. Uranium enrichment is very expensive, while the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuel from uranium-powered reactors is enormously expensive and very dangerous to the…

Soon humans will be mostly robots just to deal with the radiation and toxins, and will have to eat soylent green due to lack of animals, plants etc., plus it is a good way to control the population.

I spent yesterday reminiscing about a small island chain in the middle of the Pacific ocean.

A part of me doesn't want to accept the fact that plutonium et al have made that place less than paradise.

I have swum off the northern shore of one of those islands and dared to frolick in a wave with a pipeline roll. Indeed this same beach is "technically" my conception point, so I have (my sperm side) always been swimming in the salty sea.

Since my consciousness began there I have to hope that others see the vast beauty of our planet and strive to diminish death and destruction everywhere and anywhen.

My rational self knows this is a dream, our nucleated reality aching my bones tells me so.

What is even sadder for me, is that my mother's family lived in Japan for decades, my nephew was conceived there, my sister taught english there, and much of my upbringing (via mom) was laced with a hybrid of Japanese-Hawaiian culture, with Hawaii being dominant.

Then there is Washington State, where I conceived my first born son. Another place decimated by decaying atoms.

When does it stop guys? When will you have enough bombs?

We could have watched the children play instead of building bombs…..
