Abstract
Environmental radiation at Izu-Oshima Island was observed 6 months after the accident at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant (F1-NPP). A car-borne survey of the dose rate in air was conducted over the entire island and the results were compared with measurements performed in 2005 (i.e. before the accident). The activity concentrations of 134Cs and 137Cs were also measured using a germanium detector. The dose rate in air was found to be 2.9±1.2 times higher than that in 2005 and 134Cs was detected on Izu-Oshima Island. These results are attributed to the accident at the F1-NPP.

I forget the formula…are we supposed to multiply "results" like these by 10, or 100, or higher? Home sick today, and just can't remember. Thanks.

~Please Sign~ Prime Minister Noda just appointed the ultimate nuclear insider as chair of our supposedly ‘independent’ Nuclear Regulatory Commission! But Shunichi Tanaka’s appointment cannot be confirmed without Diet approval, and we can stop him in his tracks if we act now.
Tanaka’s appointment would be the nuclear industry’s dream. As a board member of the Nuclear Damage Compensation Committee, he even opposed compensation for voluntary evacuation for people living in Fukushima! But there’s still a hurdle — for Noda’s appointment to stick, legislators must approve it at the next Diet session. Insiders say members of the LDP and New Komeito — the biggest opposition bloc in the Diet — are split on the matter. If we can channel public outrage in their direction before they return from recess, the whole plan could crumble.

Japan Government repudiates plan to abandon nukes. According to Greenpeace:
'Hiromasa Yonekura, head of the Japan Business Federation, said, “I guess the goal [of ridding Japan of all nuclear plants by the 2030s] has effectively been retracted”'. http://www.greenpeace.org/international/en/news/Blogs/nuclear-reaction/fukushima-nuclear-crisis-update-for-september/blog/42228/
The only choice is for the people to pour into the streets to demand the closure of all nukes immediately. Not in 2030, since nuke.gov would try to slip in a restart or two each year. Only choice is to stop the nukes completely now. (BTW, so sorry about Japan, which is lost. 2030 will not be a good year. "Help Wanted: Healthcare workers needed to care for those with radiation sickness". End rant. )

The corporate for profit monopoly machine rolls on, destroying communities and steam rolling all opposition.
Someday, it will destroy itself, hopefully before all life on the planet is extinguished.
