Giving those links, more to be said,
One would think there is much more then JUST xenon-133 in this plume ! Reactors do no produce just one isotope element, Why do you think they would say they have track the one that is unlikely to cause harm ?

France’s Agency for Nuclear Safety ASN considers that radioactivity in the Caribbean and Quebec is and will remain below levels detectable by ordinary instruments and cannot have any consequences on health and environment.
Even if the situation would become much worse than it already is at Fukushima the situation would not be seriously affected.

So I suppose it also applies to North America in general.

The situation in Japan on the contrary is really dark.
Even though the situation in the plant seems to be about stabilized at level 6 (French ASN assessement which is higher than Japan’s 5 and in my opinion may be a bit soft), it is clear from what the French ASN says that (1) the surroundings of Fukushima within a radius of 100 km are likely to remain gravely contaminated for dozens of years and will need post-accident treatment for years, making them clearly unfit for living or harvesting whatever (2) getting the plant to level 0 risk will take weeks if not more.
They avoid emotional and speculative talk but between the lines the emerging picture is definitely dire for Japanese.

In others words, reading between the lines of what they say, this is not exactly worse than Chernobyl as regards scenario and explosiveness but the consequences of Fukushima are and will remain considerable for dozens of years.

This accident has the potential to become similar to or worse than Chernobyl as regards the damages inflicted on the area and it is not solved *yet*. It is only stabilized at a disastrous level.

Consider that this Inf. comes from France that sold many tons of this fuel now burning at the Fukushima plant In Japan !

Greenpeace has expressed dismay that France may soon ship recycled nuclear fuel to Japan through Pacific waters.

To date more than 10,000 tons of fuel (for light water reactors) have been reprocessed at COGEMA-La-Hague

    “Potential and forecast”
Two words that leave a lot of room for plausibility and error, How often do they get it wrong with no repercussions.
They admitted they got it wrong, thinking The Gulf Oil Spill like it was a Ship spill, short time exposure and not ongoing contamination air, water and soil to all living things for months !

    and now…

There’s the plume and trailing isotopes over the USA now and coming No. 3 which contains highly toxic plutonium
    not just radioactive Xenon-133…..

  • Maybe they used the Xenon 133 data because it’s one of the many isotopes being released that is easier to detect & shows up best on the forecast map. I just recently learned that the #3 reactor-now found to have it’s containment vessel compromised & leaking the deadliest elements in it’s MOX fuel mixture, including Plutonium-which along with the many other isotopes aren’t detectable by the EPA’s RADNET monitoring gear, but the Xenon133 plume showed the general dispersion patterns of ALL of the other crap as well?

Afraid so ! Pacific weather maps coming onto the Ca. coast and across North America will pretty much let you follow all these isotopes.

There has been a haze in the air in Florida by me since 3/21.
There’s a plume map that shows radiation plume from Japan ending up over Florida:
    http://www.zamg.ac.at/pict/aktuell/20110325_Reanalyse-I131-Period2.gif
    Can anyone verify this?
Does anyone know who else might have tested the air in Florida since some EPA Florida monitors appear to have been broken?
I just want to know what’s in the haze I’m breathing.
    Thank you.
