Ah…they will just say its due to "depression" not radiation. Evacuees have "poor spirits"..and don't smile enough. Am sue if they could prove a car or bus accident they could add that too.(sarcasm).

Large numbers of human deaths in North America and Japan as result of this massive nuclear disaster. This first wave of deaths where a result of the waves of radioactive Iodine that hit Japan and North America. A lot of these deaths could have been prevented if the populace had been informed on how to protect themselves, and their families.

It just has not been reported by the MSM and the only information coming out is from those brave researchers who have been willing to pass on the information from their research findings. They have been researching the death stats pre-Fukushima to come to these estimates.

The initial estimate for the USA is 14,000 for the first 14 weeks. Total for the period from March to December 2011 was an estimated of 54,000 extra deaths for the USA. For Japan I saw an estimate of 40,000 for the March to December 2011 period. This number is minus those killed by the tsunami. A large number of those deaths in both countries where under 1 year olds.

Get the message out there on how serious the Fukushima nuclear disaster is

This is OT. One post here is OK to give us a "heads up." But after one post you really need to post at one of the forum areas. It's OK to direct us to the Forum of your choice.

You're a bit over the top with the repeated posts here about Susquehana.

This article is about Tepco and events in Japan, not US-related reactor concerns.

If you continue to post multiple off-topic posts, I or others will need to report your comments.

      So you're on notice.

To another person I'll not name here, your comments from yesterday were also off topic, and you made multiple off topic posts, derailing the thread of discussion. You also posted up near the top of the comments, in response to someone else. That ensured your comments would get read first (unless you're like me and read from the bottom up).

Yes, I've done this in the past, myself. But based on complaints from others, I try to limit my off topic posts to one (1) only.

Admin's policy on off topic posts is clearly stated. Please adhere to the guidelines.

Tepco must have gotten the memo… Radiation and Humans can't coexist, no matter how hard they try.

  • GeoHarvey

Timemachine, the first report you mention was numbered 48,607 because 48,606 reports had been made before it.
In the something over 50 years since the nuclear industry started up, there have been nearly 50,000 such reports, an average of two to three per day.
I read these reports every day. They are not all near misses, and in fact, they are reports of the least significance relative to safety. Often, they are reports that an air conditioner failed or a diesel engine had an oil leak. Sometimes, as in the case of the report from Susquhanna, they indicate a reactor was shut down for some reason, but the shutdown was precautionary.
The low water level at Susquehanna was at -29 inches, meaning the water was 29 inches below where it was supposed to be; this means there were still several feet of water above the tops of the fuel rods.
The tritium leak is just another in a long series of such leaks. It shows the plants are getting old. It is something we can get active about. It does not mean the sky is falling.
I can agree that running nuclear plants is madness. But these reports are not something to panic over,

    • Johnny Blade Johnny Blade

There is no way to trivialize 49,000 reports even if the incidents of little significance cited were downplayed before he got to the events which point to major deficiencies & problematic facilities because the reports are ALWAYS buried at the BOTTOM of the Event Notification Page!(??) They had lots of serious events during the Ft.Calhoun Flood and then Hurricane Sandy had NRC event reports that described "direct atmospheric releases" of unfiltered steam and decay heat,etc.-again with the half-dozen least significant reports listed first with the worst saved for last! wth is up with that?! 🙁

      • timemachine2020 timemachine2020

Johnny Blade – thank you for understanding the point I was trying to make. This is so very personal for me. My sisters entire family (2 daughters and three grand babys) are all very sick with multiple afflictions from raising her family in what she thought was a beautiful country and small town enviroment in Columbia South Carolina. Downwind and 20 miles from the Savannah River Site, which I am convinced has sickened and killing them after researching that hellhole. She has told me multiple stories how her nieghbors, friends and many in her church and her fellow olympian colleagues have suddenly died of heart disease or stricken with cancers – none of which had ever smoked. Nuclear power and nuclear weapons production is destroying us all. Now any future generations have to worry about the millions years of deadly contaminates we are leaving behind. Chernobyl and Fukushima have been warnings, but the powers just don't give a shit. I personally blame Obama for not warning the american public about fukushima fallout and dangers to our way of life. He is no better that the nucleocrats that are making this mess. They bought his election so he would do their bidding. Romney was no better. Ron Paul was our best hope. So sad to leave this behind for our kids and the rest of eternity to have to stress over. The nuclear industry will be the cause of human extinction I fear in the next 100 years or so. If humanity makes it that long. Just too much spent nuclear fuel in the world now.

        • Johnny Blade Johnny Blade

@tm2020;I fully agree with you on ALL points and it's just too obvious to ignore the correlations re;release events, both accidental & via "normal" operation & design, the "timeline(s)" of release events, elevated radiation levels and significant health issues for those who live nearest their filthy fountains of death! At least we've been lucky regarding our being able to post what our families are going through here and make our loved ones sickness & suffering and the damage to our quality of life can be gauged by the despair we are obviously bad enough by itself even without getting sick & dying yet while we see people close to us who do have health issues that weren't diagnosed or confirmed(yet)who do! The closest thing TPTB have even come to making it known that they either lied or were DEAD wrong about Fukushima being a "localized" problem to date has been the omission of "claims" that all's well and even the "no immediate health risk to public" line of BS isn't used anymore at this stage of this game of chance being bet against our lives because THEY KNOW what IS and WILL happen now and don't want to be held accountable for the harm that they've caused by downplaying the disaster and its impacts and mishandling opportunities they HAD to give us a heads up when we might've avoided the rain or not ingested food or drink from contaminated regions. Now they're too greedy, stubborn and SCARED to fess up to their misdeeds & the toll climbs higher every day!…

GEO Harvey – so which nuclear company did you say you represent?

  • razzz razzz

Mochizuki has some fact based theories going on with this post…

Even if he was half right it explains the continual/ongoing releases of fission type isotopes being recorded, the gauges TEPCO claimed had faulty readings were in fact reading high temperature correctly and since some dispersed nuclear fuel is above any water level, it is free to react with the surrounding environment and TEPCO hasn't halted the reactions yet. I don't think an overhead shower of water is helping much in those types of conditions. Maybe added boron interferes with those reactions somewhat but nitrogen injections by TEPCO is for good reason.

Seeming more like a trail of melted fuel slime sticking and running from the reactor cores to who knows where.

Probably three different scenarios going on with only a meltdown in common.

  • razzz razzz

GeoHarvey: Are you a closet nuclear apologist or are you just accustomed to such reports?

What are the incidents of cancer rates within a certain radius of NPPs? Would you consider any higher cancer rates a normal reward for nuclear power generation? When is a nuclear power plant not letting tritium escape? Did tritium escape less when NPPs were brand new? How is your above comment comforting?

Is this the beginning of the crime of Fukushima Heart?

  • There is 'no mention' as to the actual cause of death.

I would have to assume severe radiation poisoning, anything else would be denied and deferred to other causes.

It does say she died in April of last year, that would be 2011. For some reason we are just now hearing about this.

Apparently there are at least 183 more, 'deaths', that we know nothing about that may be related to Fukushima's contamination. Especially the symptoms they had and if strontium or Plutonium or some other massive amount of whatever caused these innocent persons early deaths.

There are straight forward facts and information blatantly being ignored in my opinion. Why is that?

  • TheBigPicture TheBigPicture

Tokyo. Plus, the whole Northern Hemisphere …at least 50% die by cancer (from man-made radiation). Background levels of 50 cpm (in your room right now) is slowly but surly killing you. These are facts that everybody must research to know.

    • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar anne

Actually, the chances of getting cancer in your lifetime in the US was 50% before 311. These chances will be skyrocketing now.

      • vital1 vital1

It is not just extra cancers, caused by exposure to the increased levels of radiation from the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster, that can cause fatalities.

        1. Radiation contamination weakens the immune systems of animals and humans.

        2. Viruses that would normally be under check could become more infectious, because of mutation of a virus strain.

There are a lot of animals presently dying in large numbers from strange
infections worldwide. Seals, turtles and birds are just a few I have heard

These virus infections may be killing because immune systems have been weakened from the radiation contamination in the first place.

We could equally see pandemics in the human population, or epidemics like the pneumonia epidemic in Japan last year and this year.

In the long term more people may die from the indirect effects of the
radioactive contamination, as a result of the weakened immune systems, or virus mutations.

      • vital1 vital1

The first fatalities where a result of the waves of radioactive Iodine and other isotopes that hit Japan and North America. The the young and elderly where the most effected, and these where not cancer deaths.

The RT news video in my previous post provides information on the reasons for this increase in fatalities at the beginning of this disaster, caused by this radiation exposure.
