Title: Change of Fukuichi Live Camera Location at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station
Source: Tokyo Electric Power Company
Date: July 31, 2012
Fukuichi Live Camera currently installed near the Administration Office Building at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Station has been offering real-time images of mainly Unit 1 and 2 since May 31, 2011. In response to the request from viewers and considering the progress of the cover installation for fuel removal at Unit 4, the camera location will be moved to near the Waste Sludge Temporary Storage Facility (on Unit 4 side). Starting from 11:00 AM on August 1 (planned)*, real-time images of Unit 4 side of the station will be provided.
* Images will be unavailable for about an hour from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on August 1 due to the switching.

Why not multiple views, especially one that shows waterfront to dispel any rumors that fuel bundles are not being thrown into ocean. That's not to much to ask.
Report Comment
They must only have one camera. Shame really… multiple angles would be great but with only one camera, what are we to do!?
Report Comment
Cameras are expensive. At least $300 at Wal-mart. Gotta' keep the bonuses flowing, you know.
Next thing you know, all the cameras will be shut down, and we'll have kids with walkie-talkies working there.
Ssssssshhhhhhhhh, 10-22, good buddy, we have a nuclear explosion at that big building over there by the crane, 10-4 ssssssssshhhhh

What is really important.. is viewing the recriticalities…as this tells us… more than anything..about the condition of the plant iself..the aggregate emissions.
Watching the materials being removed in the open air from the tops of Units 3 and 4 is a diversion from the fact that there is no containment at Fukushima.
The other side of 4?
This should be interesting.
Sometimes..I imagine no buildings there at all.
All units a damn near skeletal anyway…or photoshop.
Emissions blowing..not a pretty sight.
Report Comment
I think they have moved the cranes away and now the camera from the R1, R2 areas. The likelihood of a close visual video capture of one or both of these buildings 'blowing' out or up might not be such good PR for TEPCO.
Seriously, why not just add a second camera?
Maybe here's why.

To me it looks like unit 2 is a pixelated computer generated image, for a long time it's looked like this and I always felt that unit 2 must have been blown away early on.
They covered 1 up to hide the destruction.
3 in a skeleton of a building, 4 is ready to fall over but is probably in the best shape.

@many moons You are sooo very correct. TEPCO much spend more money on video graphics than they do for relocations of victims. Quite impressive graphics and creative artwork..(sarcasm)

TepGov are obviously reeling from the truth of the bad emissions from Reactors 1 and 2 being posted here on ENENEWS.
First of all they restricted the TBScam view to R4 (and just a little bit of R3), so conveniently away from the problem pit of serious emissions we had been viewing between 2 & 3. Lately we mainly just get blurred images or a white screen. But we have seen how good the TBS CAN be – the zooming, panning and clarity can be really amazing but we haven't been privy to that in a long, long while.
There has been reported to be 38 cams trained on R3, so why can't instead at least ONE of them be reallocated to R4 and leave the current cam as is? Naah, then we would still be able to report on the ghastly emissions continuing up and out of R1 and R2. Tepco most likely has an ulterior motive for the relocation which we can at the moment just merely speculate on.
Report Comment
ENENEWers can do their OWN webcam replays of the site. I know we have some GREAT footage..Nuclehcen, ChasAha, Anne..Wotcha..many others..we just need to set up a window on ENENEWS to replay all our content. If TEPCO doesnt like that, they can put out the LIVE webcams, not our replays of the emissions etc etc. At least Fukushima will be visible one way or the other. Admin? What do you think? Is this possible? We certainly all have footage..by time/date..and events even.
Report Comment
Ulterior motive?
So we can't see what's going into the ocean. Simple.

Whether it can be seen or not the vapors are there. Nobody can prove to me that any apparent control is not simply illusion/deception.

Looks like the tent over #1 is starting to come apart, could be another reason for the change of view.

don't worry they got more duck tape ?

No, no, the tent is a carefully crafted nuclear radiation vacuum-sealed emission containment unit. You must be mistaken.
This is not the tent you're looking for . . .

The left side of the tent is very colourful if you put the screen on zoom/extra zoom. Just watch the roofline too and the usual 'culprit' hole on the righthand side of the roof is very active. Maybe Tepco are gonna try to somehow botch it up??

Just spent over an hour trying to find webcam archives, no luck. If you know link to archives could you check 6-30-12 0500-0600 as I believe that would be the correct video @ Wotcha. And yes #1 seems to be spewing more than usual.

Crafty B*****d's…once they move the two cranes, R2 crane forward (and they will!).and R4 crane across it will completly obscure any view of R1 and R2.. and with the completion of cover/tent on R4 I doubt R3 will be seen either..great eh? still there's always TBS/JNN cam showing a blank or barely visible R4 and partial view of R3… tosser's!

Hi. Been lurking for a long while…1st post..but this really has been bugging me…
If you look on the photo's here
http://cryptome.org/eyeball/daiichi-111211/daiichi-111211.htm
towards the last few of the control center and there huge video screens, they have full HD video cameras all over the site. (Japan after all is a world leader for its superiority in hi-tech audio/visual. You can even see in the close up image with the japanese signed flag under it that that video feed IS NOT the live one streamed to us sheeple!
imo..the camera has always been a total red herring. If they wanted to pipe full cinema quality footage of the entire site with rotating cameras to 'joe public' then they could do that in a heartbeat.
The fact they are now moving (the one and only) camera to a different view is purely just 'stage management'
Anyone working in TV will tell you 'only show the audience what you want them to see'
all smoke 'n' mirrors.

Wonder when one of the major governmens will allow satellite footage of Fukushima radiation contamination utilizing a few of their "tools". They MUST have this kind of footage. USA? Or maybe China or Russia will provide to the rest of the world..

Good question. The answer is probably never.
Report Comment
All the other 'Major governments' have just as vested interest in making sure the 'cleanliness' of nuclear power doesn't come in to question that they'll never come forward showing how bad it is.
If it could happen there…it could happen here!
They do not want the sort of protests going on in Tokyo right now happening on there doorsteps and threatening there trillion dollar businesses. They would rather help Japan to 'cover it up as quickly and quietly as possible' than reveal the seriousness of what's happened to the northern hemisphere.

What's really insane is that it costs 400 trillion yen to decontaminate but if TEPCO pays 40 million yen to each family in Fukushima (to evacuate), the total cost will only be 23 trillion yen. tweeted by teru2bouz

TEPCO floats balloon plan to inspect reactor's top floor
Tokyo Electric Power Co., operator of the crippled Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant, plans to inspect the top floor of the No. 1 reactor building using a balloon equipped with cameras, possibly in early August.
TEPCO plans to inspect the top floor of the building by floating a balloon equipped with four cameras through an opening in the ceiling that extends from the ground floor to the fifth floor.

TEPCO will relax conditions on release of nuke crisis videos
Bowing to pressure from industry minister Yukio Edano, Tokyo Electric Power Co. will loosen restrictions on media viewing of videos of in-house meetings during the onset of the crisis at its Fukushima No. 1 nuclear power plant last year.
The footage is believed to contain exchanges made at the very moments that reactor buildings exploded at the Fukushima No. 1 nuclear plant and when Naoto Kan, the prime minister at the time, visited TEPCO head offices on March 15 last year.
Even though TEPCO has agreed to the release, only images and voices from an "abridged version," edited by TEPCO, will be made available for broadcast to the public.
