"Isotopes that emit alpha particles include: Americium-241, Plutonium-239 and Uranium-238."
TEPCO admits releases possibly including Plutonium from Reactor3. But insists The obviously radioactive steam from Reactor 3 isn't radioactive.
Way to tell the truth, TEPCO. Sgt. Schultz, of Hogan's Heros used to say: "I know nothing. I see nothing! Nothing!" ;)

    • The steam is NOT radioactive, because it is just Alpha dogs being released… and they are NOT radioactive..

Maybe we call them Americium, Plutonium, and uranium.

No harm in that, is there?

Then there is always the rain = steam story to fall back on…

Reactor containment? I haven't seen anything left of number 3 reactor. It's gone with the explosion. The steam is coming from remnants of the core that went down as opposed to the rest that went skywards .there was some talk of reactor 3 holding stocks of covert weapons material, but nothing recently.I think they will have to call up on the Fukushima 5000, to boldly go where no one or no thing has managed so far. Suicide missions to locate the cores and to deal with them ?? The Russians at least did what they had to do! The West is the Best doesn't quite ring so true now. During Chernobyl all talk was of 'how it couldn't happen here' how western engineering and our containment would prevent any accident of any significance' The West don't seem that good no- more. Keep the Faith!

Actually, as I posted a few threads back, the NRC was informed by an industry insider-turned-whistle blower, who uncovered some data that was gathered and hushed up at the time, that showed that the containment at TMI was actually breached. This was never admitted to, (NRC guy, who was trained to lie, straight-faced, told the whistle blower, "We missed it." (!!!) because Wash 740 and Rasmussen update (the NRC and AEC bibles on reactor safety studies (RSS) both expressed the mistaken idea that containment failure was so unlikely as to be basically not credible, to allow reactor sales to continue.

And these are the bogus studies (Americal Physical Society said they were bogus at the time, in 1975,) on which our federal idiotic government bases its right to reserve to itself the issue of reactor safety!!

the whole ridiculous story coming out is really too pathetic and ridiculous to even believe, except it is a true story!!!

And judges rules for them (Gar Murtha of Vermont) like saying Nuclear Reactors are so safe that No One Is Allowed To Talk about Reactor Safety!!!

Hitler would be proud of these fellows. Goebbels would smile affectionately for the bold hubris of lying wholesale.

Himmler was a chicken farmer, as far as we know, he was getting stoned on chicken shit.

Goering, upper class Nazi leader, he just liked being fat around new airplanes. He would have been a good candidate for Commissioner at the NRC.

Some bird brain, Himmler. Maybe he had Toxoplasmosis. There is likely a reason for the term "bird brained" being used as a slang term — aside from indicating one apparently possesses low intelligence.

Many slang terms have a basis in historical events, although their meaning changes over time, and in common use.

Am becoming more & more convinced much mental illness is caused by hidden infectious disease pathogens ….

        http://birdmanagement.com/diseases2.html

        Toxoplasmosis Affects: Humans

Toxoplasmosis may be one of the most widespread zoonotic diseases in the United States. It is common in humans. It is a parasitic infection caused by an intracellular protozoa Toxoplasma godii antibody.
Toxopasmosis is extremely common in humans, but most infections are not apparent…. The organism seems to have infinity for brain tissue. The disease may cause many problems, including mental retardation and death….
…problems may include inflammation of the retina, strabismus (deviation of the eyes, which the patient cannot overcome), and blindness, hydrocephalous (accumulation of fluid in the brain cavity), abnormal smallness of the head, cerebral calcifications, mental retardation, epilepsy and deafness. The acquired (non-congenital) form may affect the central nervous system and exhibit symptoms ranging from headaches, slight fever, drowsiness, disorientation and fatigue to encephalitis and fatal pneumonia.

Nedli, you have historical facts in place to support your arguments. The Nazi analogies are appreciated here. Many of Mum's relatives were "disappeared" by so-called "patriotic Germans" for resisting the Nazis. Most of the "disappeared" were German ex-pat's & as far as we know not Jewish or of Eastern European descent (Some were Eastern Europeans, & some were possibly Jewish who wished to avoid pogroms by adopting "Christianity.")

At least one of my family members (Dad's side, ironically) was former AEC who left because of what went on there. As a child, I overheard an adult conversation wherein my father and uncle were discussing why he had moved on to, of all places (I think) Hanford. Or perhaps that was his brother. They were both nuclear professionals. One of them was with the AEC, according to what I'd heard.

As we know, life at Hanford has been no picnic. My poor cousin, out of the frying pan, into the fire, quite literally. So far he has remained healthy to the best of our knowledge. I often wonder what it took for him to suck it up & endure after getting involved in such a horrible profession. And about his mental status.

He started a sideline business years ago that has been amazingly successful, & he won his freedom.

If it's ever safe to tell the truth (for both of us), I'll ask him what happened & will tell his story. Too young when I heard the story to know if I really heard what I thought I overheard. Something like what you told us…

Thanks, Doc. Knowing the truth about what REALLY happened to John Wayne is liberating. For decades we were all told he died of lung cancer because he was a cigarette smoker. More likely Plutonium or some other inhaled radioactive particle killed him.

I'm disgusted, as usual. He was one of my childhood heroes, a real man's man. I liked him a great deal, and it was sad seeing his reputation demeaned, and seeing his integrity discredited.

Some of the people in the know about what really happened to him and his crew must have really had a bad hankerin' to make the cowboy look bad. Much easier to make Big John look bad than to let the peasants in the nuclear village know the truth ….

      Yes, we're all downwinders now.

So if any of y'all wonder why the mystery "autoimmune" and immune disorders are killing and disabling so many people, you might not have to look much farther than the nuclear horizon …. Nukes, GMO's, pesticides, herbicides, petrochemical nightmares and environmental toxins of all kinds. Little wonder so many people are so sick, or dying.

If you wonder why so many people now have chronic Lyme disease (unheard of 30 years ago, and now found almost everywhere on earth), or fibromyalgia, think nuclear incapacitation, or "soft kill" as it's called. We're not only all downwinders, we're potential "soft kill" victims.

The Truth always wins in The End…

Alpha decay is why the plutonium factor is so deadly.

    Alpha particle

When alpha particle emitting isotopes are ingested, they are far more dangerous than their half-life or decay rate would suggest, due to the high relative biological effectiveness of alpha radiation to cause biological damage, after alpha-emitting radioisotopes enter living cells. Ingested alpha emitter radioisotopes (such as transuranics or actinides) are an average of about 20 times more dangerous, and in some experiments up to 1000 times more dangerous, than an equivalent activity of beta emitting or gamma emitting radioisotopes.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_particle

And here is another reminder of when the facts were released.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9k3Ofs6R9cg

Admitting the truth two, and a half years later, is a very poor plutonium contaminatiom mitigation practice…

A death sentence for all who win(?) that lottery…

    —–
I've been telling people that several hundred TONS of Plutonium were blown into the atmosphere by #3. Your post indicates 600-6000 pounds. Is that the amount estimated to be in the MOX/spent fuel? Is the several hundred tons amount the combined mass of all radioisotopes in the fuel rods/etc? Or did I have a memory malfunction?

Is there an estimate for the total amount of Plutonium that would have been on site 3/11, and how much might be left? I know the second part of the question might not be possible to answer with any confidence.

Thanks. I hate to be putting bad info out there as I know it hurts all of our credibility.

Probably not hundreds of tons of plutonium at Fukushambles, but several tons.

My statistics on Sellafield were challenged by a follow-up reader and I changed my Sellafield estimate by 90% downward because most of it was plutonium laced effluent and not pure plutonium.

I had the same problem at a society wedding in Newport, RI last weekend … I was telling my old friend (who was finally becoming receptive to hearing about this tragedy, he has been tutt-tutting it since 3/11) and I said 600 tons of plutonium were released, and he questioned that figure, then I said perhaps I meant to say 600 pounds, from AGR's posts, and that is scary enough, and so go with that number, and multiply 600 pounds times 16 oz/lb and then this product again multiply by 28 grams/oz. and then divide this number by 1/50 million and you are well into the many billions of potential lethal doses …

… so we don't need to exaggerate … a conservative estimate is plenty bad enough …

How does Big Nuke get past this bad publicity?

Deny, defend, lie, cheat, cover up and pay those in power to let you keep your heinous toys???

I don't understand their drawing. The results are from captured samples just before they enter the filtration system (maybe forced by nitrogen purges) but they have some arrows showing flow out of containment to outside air. The notes say they monitor the outside air in the remains of the building but I don't see the results of the monitoring.

How much fallout is captured in the filtration system and how much fallout is free to flow to outside air like the steam at Unit 3?

    • It is also a secret what was in #3 reactor and spent fuel pool.. There are MANY secrets at FUKU Daichi, such as what went on there as far as nuclear weapons research, breeding plutonium for weapons, etc…

Why are things like this important to know?

Because if #3 was a breeder reactor with a solid ring of plutonium rods around the outside, then the amount of plutonium both in the SFP and in the reactor is much more than the 600 pounds that it would have had with just MOX fuel inside of it.

Having a breeder reactor at FUKU, if that is what they were doing with #3, (and why it blew up differently than the others) would also explain why they are refusing to even admit ANY plutonium was there, at all.

What are they trying to hide? Why not let some investigative journalists in there and talk to some of the workers, if everything is so ok, so safe, so normal?

Oh yea, we forgot, they swore all workers to secrecy FOREVER. Now why do that if there is nothing to hide?

    2. Why the hell have this not been followed with day or week by week media coverage world wide?

    3. What system is in place to contain not just the situation from the point of origin but the consumption of general consumer products from that region affected?

    4. In the possible worsening situation and the high possibility of the situation definitely heading for the worse how are you going to prepare the masses for the situation that has been going on for almost 3 years? by then contaminants of all sorts would have reached the global population…..

To this end im tired of informing people about it, if i had the money i would have invested in a few hazardous materiel suites and a gun.
