Unit 3 boric acid injection, to prevent re-criticality is also the No. 1.2, Yomiuri Shimbun, May 15, 2011:

15 TEPCO, the world prevent the Second Coming of the Unit 3 reactor at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, the reactor cooling water, on a dissolved boric acid to absorb neutrons, the same day to the reactor announced that the injection began.

Will be the No. 1 and 2, take the same measures.

Critical re-continuous fission phenomenon again. 1 – Unit 3 reactor pressure vessel was initially injected in the history of water for cooling, TEPCO was seen as the salt will absorb neutrons. The boric acid is dissolved in water cooling, since instead of fresh water from seawater cooling down because it is seen that the salinity.

Meanwhile, the pressure vessel of Unit 3 are top of the soaring temperatures. TEPCO “There is a possibility that water is leaking irrigation pipe as a” pipe from the 12th to add another 12 tonnes of water filling the pipe with two per clock. Has increased from 14 to 15 tons per clock injection volume, temperature of the top 24 in no time at 5:00 am on July 15 rose 46.5 degrees, was 297 degrees. TEPCO said, “is still not going well injection” sees.

TEPCO announced on May 15 that it started to use boric acid in the reactor cooling water for the Reactor 3 at Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant to prevent recriticality from happening. [...]

[T]he temperature at the top of the Reactor 3 RPV has risen rapidly. TEPCO increased the amount of cooling water to 12 tons per hour on May 12 using two water feeding systems, then to 15 tons per hour on May 14. However, the temperature at the top of the RPV increased by 46.5 degrees Celsius in 24 hours to 297 degrees Celsius as of 5:00AM on May 15. TEPCO thinks there’s a problem with the pipes that feed water into the RPV.

What so-called experts said that this was impossible? If they are saying this, it must already be occurring. Ugh!

Ten lessons from Chernobyl and Fukushima

    By David Krieger
    Pmprojprogressive.Org

Here are 10 lessons from the Chernobyl nuclear disaster 25 years ago and the Fukushima disaster this year.

    1. Nuclear power is a highly complex, expensive and dangerous way to boil water to create steam to turn turbines.

    2. Accidents happen, and the worst-case scenario often turns out to be worse than imagined or planned for.

    3. The nuclear industry and its experts cannot plan for every contingency or prevent every disaster.

    4. Governments do not effectively regulate the nuclear industry to assure the safety of the public. Regulators of the nuclear industry often come from the nuclear industry itself and tend to be too close to it to regulate it effectively.

    5. Hubris, complacency and high-level radiation are a deadly mix. Hubris on the part of the nuclear industry and its government regulators — along with complacency on the part of the public — has led to the creation of vast amounts of high-level radiation that must be guarded from release to the environment for tens of thousands of years.

    6. The corporations that run the nuclear power plants are protected from catastrophic economic failure by government limits on liability. If the corporations that own nuclear power plants had to bear the burden of potential financial losses in the event of a catastrophic accident, they would not build the plants because they know the risks are unacceptable. It is only when government limits the liability, as the Price-Anderson Act does in the United States, that companies go ahead and build nuclear power plants. No other private industry is given such liability protection, which leaves the taxpayers on the hook.

    7. Radiation releases from nuclear accidents cannot be contained in space and will not stop at national borders.

    8. Radiation releases from nuclear accidents cannot be contained in time and will adversely affect countless future generations.

    9. Nuclear energy — as well as nuclear weapons — and human beings cannot coexist without the risk of future catastrophes. The survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki have long known that nuclear weapons and human beings cannot coexist. Fukushima, like Chernobyl before it, makes clear that human beings and nuclear power plants also cannot coexist.

    10. The accidents at Fukushima and Chernobyl are a bracing reminder to phase out nuclear energy. We need to move as rapidly as possible to a global energy plan based upon conservation and various forms of renewable energy: solar cells, wind, geothermal, and energy that is extracted from the oceans and the tides and the currents.

Poet Maya Angelou once said, “History, despite its wrenching pain, cannot be unlived, but if faced with courage doesn’t need to be lived again.” We need the courage to abandon nuclear power. No one should have to experience the wrenching pain of another Chernobyl or another Fukushima.

Tokyo Electric may disperse boric acid over plant by helicopter
    Tue Mar 15, 2011 11:38pm GMT
March 16 (Reuters) – Nuclear power plant operator Tokyo Electric Power said on Wednesday that it is considering dispersing boric acid, a fire retardant, over the Fukushima Daiichi plant’s No. 4 reactor from a helicopter.

Not any longer, the helicopter use was attempted before they found a better methods to get the water mixture in. Some are used to fly it over there however.

A little over a week ago, three huge miltary cargo helicopters were seen headed towards Diablo Canyon in California, as were seen when local media there reported some being sent previously. This suggests that Diablo has also sent more. The French were also contributors the first time around. Boric Acid, which absorbs neutrons to suppress criticality is added to the cooling water which they are using in very large amounts. I do not know if their water recycling plans will allow recycling of the additive or if filtering will remove it.

The key thing is for fewer neutrons released by fuel to hit or be reflected back to fuel. Because plutonium gives off more neutrons than uranium 235 when struck by them, MOX fuel (a mixture of both) is harder to control. Unit 3 uses 6% MOX, a lower amount than some other plants use. Normal operation exposing uranium 238 (spent fuel) to neutrons converts some of that to plutonium, so some plutonium is present in all used fuel. (I’m not an expert, I’ve just been reading up on this)

      Best of luck to them.

There is certainly strange stuff going on with the weather – slight amounts of snow and ice in NorCal last night. Totally bizarre for this time of year at the altitude where I live. “Nuclear winter” starts to take on a whole new meaning – those damn radioactive particles now thick in the atmosphere are already evidently contributing to blocking the Sun’s energy getting to the surface (similar to volcanic ash). We could all be seeing some cooler global temperatures for a long time (who knows how long?!).

One over southeast MI with a center a little above Detroit and the top half of Lake Erie and the lower half of Lake Huron and also includes Wyoming Canada and the top of Ohio. Then there is another one with a center at about Cortland NY and that one also pulls in NNE Pennsylvania. There are 2 HAARP rings in Washington which cover Seattle and north of it(this is a huge ring) and also there is one that has a center at about Spokane. There’s a ring at the border of CA and OR also. There could be others that I can’t see right now. There might be on that involves TN, Alabama and Georgia.

    i) acetyl resveratrol
    ii) biotivia bioforte

Time to zip up your biosuits & mosey on down to the local for a crate of Bulgarian Mavrud.
    ———————————
Numerous studies have found that red wine protects against radiation exposure.

    Italian Study
Italian researchers at the Catholic University and the National Research Council in Italy found that women who drank just one glass of red wine on days when they were to undergo radiation therapy for cancer had a 75% reduced rate of toxic effects from the radiation than women who didn’t drink wine.

    University of Pittsburgh Studay
Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine found that resveratrol combined with acetyl alcohol given to mice before radiation exposure protected the cells from damage and reduced the chances of death.

    University of Rochester Study
Researchers at the University of Rochester found that resveratrol makes cancer cells more susceptible to radiation treatment while at the same time protecting healthy cells from the effects of radiation.

    Colorado State University Study
Researchers at Colorado State University found that resveratrol is a radioprotective agent. They orally adminstered resveratrol to mice two days prior to irradiation. The mice who received the resveratrol had a statistically significant reduction in total chromosome aberrations of the bone marrow cells compared to mice who did not receive resveratrol.

    Bulgarian Advice
Many people in Russia and surrounding countries such as Bulgaria drank red wine after the Chernobyl disaster because it was believed to protect against radiation. Professor Donka Baykova of the Bulgarian Nutrition Association says that red wine protects against radiation and is more powerful than iodine in doing so. She also says that one study found that Bulgarian wines were especially protective against radiation.

Red Wine Protects You From Radiation

    http://esciencenews.com/articles/2011/05/04/natural.protection.against.radiation

Wine alone does not contain therapeutic amounts of resveratrol. One must use a quality approved supplement for this purpose. The one used in most human clinical trials is biotivia bioforte. It has been shown to also improve cerebral function, and have chemo-protective effects agains the conditions associated with human aging

No, it’s actually true that the amount of resveratrol used in lab experiments is the equivalent of hundreds of bottles of red wine. I’ve been following it for the last few years. But red wine also has some other components that can be therapeutic in different ways.

Generally speaking the best prices I’ve seen on full-potency “alternative” biochemicals for health, longevity, etc are at the Life Extension Foundation site. They also put up some articles including one on radiation protection, that one might have been posted a year or two ago.
