Taco – Where did you get 10 lbs from? If I recall, what Japan admitted to blowing skyward from the mox reactor was quite a bit more than that. If I remember correctly it was 168 lbs of plutonium. My constant observation has been that mox fuel is a 13:1 mix – for every pound of plutonium blown skyward, there were 13 pounds of uranium. So the initial splash is lots worse than you said.

To the distribution – 2/3rd’s of the earth is water, so most of the fallout that escaped Japan will drop into the oceans and being heavy will sink. Of course it will finds it’s way into the food chain in time especially in littoral areas. The 1/3rd that falls on the land will be very unevenly distributed – likely more fallout on the West Çoast . Are we all going to die from it? IF it was evenly distributed worldwide, then yes. Can portions of isolated humanity survive? Well, that assumes we can shut Fuku down and not add to the problem. And convince Japan that burning their radioactive wastes when the winds protect them and harm us, might be viewed as acts one would expect from North Korea, not an ally.

I agree, that as deadly as plutonium is,and as alarming as the stats are, it is unlikely that evry human being (or even the majority of human beings) have breathed in the plutonium that was released. It’s true that it’s heavy, doesn’t travel easily and will be very unevenly distributed.

I don’t know much about it going upo the food chain, such as fish, but if it’s that deadly it would probably kill the fish before it would end up on our dinner plates.

And I’ve been checking background radiation here, and haven’t found any alarming numbers yet. I have checked certain areas, but I realized while doing this how extremely large the Bay Area is, which means that while deadly, the radiation has had a chance to disperse quite a bit.

And there is also the ability of mankind to survive through all sorts of things…how many toxic pollutants do we ingest/inhale/absorb every day, and yet somehow we are still overpopulating the planet. I think at least for now we will survive this, even though it will surely do massive damage.

Just trying to temper the panic…

There are two things you need for global dispersion of plutonium:

          1. The release of plutonium into the air in the first place

          2. A mechanism for long-distance travel of this heavy radionuclide

We know all about #1, so let’s look at #2. Some people might have missed that there was another explosion in reactor #3 on March 20 (which was covered up), and this has been acknowledged to be due to a corium-concrete reaction, which is where the fuel from the reactor melts through concrete, mixes with it at a high temperature, and releases all sorts of isotopes into the atmosphere.

When corium mixes with concrete, it enables the radioactive isotopes to travel long distances. The “dust” you may have seen on some youtube videos is actually from the floor of the reactor buildings.

Now the question is whether this corium-concrete reaction occurred BEFORE the initial explosion at #3. There is evidence that it did. Rust-colored chunks of concrete were photographed outside of #3. When corium interacts with concrete, it also interacts with steel from the control rods and other structures. A layer of molten iron floats on top of the radioactive concrete stew. It appears that chunks of concrete were blasted through this layer at the time of the explosion, and these chunks were covered with rust (iron oxide).

This means that you have a mechanism for long-distance transport of plutonium, AND a huge explosion to blow the corium-concrete mix sky-high to begin with.

This is a worse situation than if the reactor pressure vessel simply blew up.

The French brought over on secret ship about 900 pounds of plutonium for Reactor 3 last summer (on my phone so i’m not sure the exact amount… I have posted on this before and its been a couple of weeks… Seems like my reseach found a manifest of either 880 or 980 pounds…

Anyway… So yes that much weight if vaporized in a fire or explosion has a theoretical death potential of billions of creatures. Yet consider the math… All those particles would fit in an area smaller than the size of a tennis court. Sheer math tells us our inhalation odds are slim as we are spread across the globe and the plutonium particles have no guidance system.

I would suggest we worry more about cesium, iodine, and strontium. Lot more of those isotopes.

Tacoma – no doubt I have seen your posts and independently came to the same conclusion at about the same time that there could be a global lethal dose of plutonium released.

However I did not come to the same conclusion that, if released, the plutonium would circle the globe. My conclusion on that is not complete. I cannot find any credible research on what would happen if that plutonium were released. .

It’s possible most of the plutonium fell out on or near Japan. Which means all of Japan is dead, and the pacific ocean is badly polluted, but the rest of the world may not be. It’s also possible that all of the plutonium is circling the globe and we are all dead.

Either way, the damage is already done. As soon as we saw that cloud rise up from Unit #3, I knew, and you did also, that the fate was sealed.

Even if we encase the reactors with concrete – if we were to dig up all the dirt in honshu and bury it – then the plutonium is still released, so that will not change. Only further releases can be prevented – and at the current rate of release – we are pretty late to the party on that one too.

Assuming the government knows what is really going on, they know that bunkers don’t do any good.

I have been watching, and I see absolutely no signs of “backroom” preparations, or warnings. I have some very highly placed contacts in the government and they have not been warned of anything. The entire US federal government is focused on keeping the economy from toppling and hiding the precariousness of that situation from the public.

The only thing I can conclude is one of three possibilities – either they 1. have been bamboozled as much as the public; 2. they simply cannot believe that one single reactor location could wipe out life on earth; or 3. they know it’s not really as deadly as we think.

The rest of the population is counting on #3. I’m pretty worried it’s either #1 or #2.

I know what is to live being watched and repressed. I am from such a country. And it did not change. What i have learned
1.The watchers are humans. Give them a human report. You may learn something and they may feel better.
    2. Do not show your emotions. Work them out in a physical form.
    3. Play with the situation – do not derive immediate conclusions, leave the analysis to ripe and do other things in the meantime.
    4. You are evolved human being and you have seen the truth. Value this. If no one understands, it is not your problem. Say, what you have to say, and who is able to hear it, will hear. (such saying preserved me from Chernobil fallout.I have to tell what I know to other people – it is so simple for me)
    5. Start you work in a circle – from you to relatives, neighbors, friends. You are supposed to do the main work in the close circle, if you want it to work.
    6. All of you are good persons, you want to help, and do not spare your efforts – so do what you feel proper and leave it that way – do and forget. Another day is on the verge.
    7. Take special care for yourself. Give yourselves this time and do the best you can.
    8. Remember that everything will perish anyway, including me and you. So – why not do the best we are capable of.
    9. Sometimes when you feel everything is so desperate, it is because you have not seen the whole picture.
    10. If you are under a great pressure, remember – everything is temporary, this problem too.
    11. Do what you can and think it is proper to do, and do not care what will follow.(Something similar was said by Tolstoy, the great Russian writer)
    12. Check you values. i am sure the truth occupies higher position in your value system, because you are ready to suffer for it. This is our main advantage. E

@ tacomagroove and red red wine

tacomagroove, what website were you barred from?

Anyway, I agree. You don’t need to sit and calculate to see that with that much plutonium having been created so far (and there are about 3000 other highly toxic substance being emitted, not just plutonium), and its very long half life and incredible toxicity, and Fukushima just out of control and beyond fixing, and so many other potential nuclear nightmares scattered around the globe and tottering on the brink of major problems – it seems inevitable that the planet is going to have a huge eco-collapse, and it won’t be years down the road.

We are going to see the bad news from Fukushima snowballing. It’s going to be an avalanche of consequences.

Maybe some forms of life will persist in pockets, who knows.

I like you am also totally depressed at this point. Since the plant failures at Fuk. I have been on a big effort to clean up my diet, eat right – and I know quite a bit about that, having been on the Gerson Therapy (see a very good video about the Gerson Therapy on Netflix) and being in general into healthy eating, mostly vegan, juicing, drink pure water (btw I think water that is first put thru reverse osmosis and then distilled might be pretty good) — but as this saga has progressed, my thinking is changing.

As it has become evident that the plants at Daiichi are beyond fixing and will continue spewing the poisons, I have come to feel that I am a ‘dead woman walking’ and that trying to stay healthy in the face of this is just wasted effort. I am more thinking that I will just relax and live a little before I die. Yes, including my fav intoxicant, the ‘red red wine.’ Sulfites, fungicides, and all.

I am now in my mid-60s. Have been researching the doings of the global gangsta elite for decades now. For a long time, in my humble way, was ‘trying to make a difference.’

But lately, seeing the galloping fascism overtaking this country (USA) and the globe, I had already kind of given up and was very depressed… and then Fukushima happened. I agree, greed trumped common sense and the goals for world monopoly government are sort of beside the point — as it is now looking like we are all toast.

Well, maybe the elites will be snug in those well-equipped UG bases of theirs for the next quarter of a million years…

Where are people getting the numbers that either 10 or 168 pounds of plutonium exploded out of reactor #3? I don’t remember seeing that in any news stories or other documents. Can you please supply a link to a source?

I am so fucking sick of these disgusting money making fucks destroying our country and completely taking advantage of us! how much more longer are we going to allow this!!! we need to fucking do something! we are paying to be taken advantage of our whole lives and giving money to corporate scumbags who have made their way into our government and will continue to make money off of us at our own expense!!! the time to do something is now. the time to fight back is now.. but the truth is.. we wont fight back we live in a country full of spineless pukes who care about nothing more then living in their own little fantasy land instead of fighting for our human rights and our future. im starting to really hate everything about the country that ive grown up in my entire life. we all know that government gets to greedy and powerful over periods of time and their needs to be revolution to change it back in favor or the people. what happened to americans with courage? dignity? honor? where is the will to not be controlled and killed? You know what happened? Football happened.. TV happened. People getting paid millions of dollars to kick a ball around (which children used to do and eventually grow out of) with millions of mindless zombies chanting them on and throwing everything they work so hard to get right at them. its fucking pathetic what kind of fucked up world do we fucking live in where someone is paid more than what 90% of us living here will ever make in our lives in one year for kicking a little rubber ball that, 100 years ago, only children would do. While we have kids in our own country starving to death every single day. Not only that but what kind of a fucking world do we live in where almost all of our population will turn on the TV and if the news caster who’s been there for 40 years tells everyone that flying pigs are going to shit down ice cream all night then I’m almost positive that most of them will leave bowls out hoping to catch some ice cream. Do you see the point of my rant? We are all brainwashed and controlled through media and sports to keep our eyes off of what’s really going on. We, as a country, are fucked. We have no more heroes or warriors. Alls we have are sheep that will do anything master tells them to. sorry if i offended anyone, this doesn’t even skim the top of everything id like to say

Great rant, but it’s TV, sports and SHOPPING.

Hey stukncali, I feel your frustration….where are you located? If you are in the bay area, maybe we can get together. I would like to do whatever I can to bring attention to the whole situation. I am hoping to do a documentary with another poster on here.

BTW, I rarely, if ever, watch TV. Not that I don’t have my vices, but I have more important things to waste my time on…

I have heavily damaged lungs from childhood illnesses, so I have no illusion over what might happen this winter. I’m sorriest for the young people.
