CROOKED CLEANUP: Photos, videos show contractors lied in decontamination reports
Photos and videos taken by The Asahi Shimbun show that general contractors lied in their reports about shoddy decontamination work around the Fukushima nuclear plant.
The companies, which received lucrative contracts for the project, admitted to slipshod work in three cases. But it is clear that many other violations of the Environment Ministry’s rules have occurred. [...]

Author: Toshio Tada

The Environment Ministry has received reports from The Asahi Shimbun and others about 14 cases of shoddy decontamination work in Fukushima Prefecture. General contractors admitted to only three of those cases.
The slipshod work caught in photos and videos by The Asahi Shimbun is just the tip of the iceberg. [...]
The ministry plans to release the results of its own investigations on Jan. 18. But if it continues to rely on the words of the contractors, the actual situation will never become clear. [...]
Separately, more than 30 decontamination workers told The Asahi Shimbun that they had cut corners. There is no doubt that violations of the ministry’s rules are rampant. [...]
If the ministry releases the results of insufficient investigations, public distrust of the government will only grow [...]

must our actions be local?
Two of my projects are fictional works, exploring themes related to Japan & nuclear power (among other things) that…well, too much to explain here,
suffice to say, I am trying, with the only talent I have, to SAY what I see, in a way that might reach hearts, if not minds, on a level of common humanity.
What I do here is but adjunct to that.
But like I said, I'll contribute whatever I can, so now, to start another file.

Decontamination will not matter. In the end, Japan is toast.
Saw a study yesterday that shows Japan #1 country for health.
Forget it.
Japan #3 economy in world.
Forget it.
More like: Japan #1 in Cancer Deaths for next 50 years.
Until Japan ceases entirely to be a modern nation.
So completely doesn't matter whether decon is done well or not.
Forests and mountains: Contaminated.
Roads and ditches: Contaminated.
Playgrounds and public parks: Contaminated.
(Area around radiation monitor: Decontaminated.)
Rivers and Oceans: Contaminated.
Food: Contaminated. (But, hey, Support By Eating!)
Seafood: Contaminated.
School Lunches: Contaminated!
Air: Fallout is still coming down, emitted by Corium TEPCO will not admit is in the sandstone under Fukushima.
So, you see. Japan is toast. So sorry! So sad!

I have put links to the vid-survey of the cask pool. I've also explained the difference in the cross sections visable from the tops of the burnt rods. The Urainium rods, as shown in their video of them, have a screen over multiple pensil-like-shaped rods inside. This goes for MOX rods as well. Plutonium rods have a wider "Disk" and are stacked like the pieces on a backgammon set. They can only fit 4 in the square (Box) section of the rods, so all you need to prove the truth of it… look at the vid of the rods that are sitting in the cask pool.
They have switched the later-edition of the survey of the pool of #4, with that of the pool of 2. I'm worried now, as it seems that #2 pool also has some of the PU-B rods sitting in it, and the tops of them are gone as well!

Greetigs, PB. Do you know of a source of info. for geologic data? Someone has posted info. here on that (P239?) in the past. There have been several "analyses," one stating there is bedrock, one stating there is an overhang of sandstone or semi-compacted shale, another stating the plant was built on several hundred feet of landfill (I think). That's what I recall at any rate.
If someone here knows of any method of confirming the soil/rock composition in the area, would you please post it? Am sure this data is published by Universities in Japan (or geologic studies. I don't read Kanji, so I'm pretty clueless when it comes to figuring out what's actually there.
Was thinking geologists, working with chemists, and perhaps nuclear physicists could probably model what's happening to the corium.
Yes, PB, if there are actually 150 tons of corium there (is that for each reactor, or all three?) then that's pretty mind-boggling.
If the corium hits the sea, or the water table, am wondering if it would cause a phreatic explosion which would make the Krakatoa eruption look like some child threw Pop Rocks into a cereal bowl.
Maybe on the scale of the last eruption of Mt. Mazama, or Yellowstone Caldera (U.S.)? Only think radiation raining down, and radioactive lava (corium) instead of ash and rock cloud.

They do pre-processing of Plutonium rods by running them in reactor 3. This gets them the max-amount of U-235 created. Then, it's over to #4 for Plutonium extraction.
Problem is, the pool of 4 is full! So, they have to put the rods in other pools. That's why the loading of #4 was being done from the cask pool, as well as from the spent pool.
Report Comment
What is the cask pool?
Report Comment
when new rods get shipped in, each reactor has a deep water-filled airlock deal the entire rod-filled shipping cask fits into. Insert, fill with water, open the lid… extract rods to move them to the reactor core… or to the pool and out of the pool to move to longer term storage.

The thing I'm involved in (Taking my time up!) is all the NON_LISTED reactors that Japan has, and I'm doing a sat-capture pic of them… and is so far 3 others I've found that they don't admit to existing!… that now ALSO have robotic-type cranes working on them, and look much as #1 & 4 looked… right after they exploded!
Just one more MAJOR type lie that is being perpetuated, and not spoken on!

Thank goodness someone is devoted to a scientific explanation.

Agreed. Hoping someone will put together some GIS mapping for all of this. It's really hard to get the data if you're not affiliated with a University study, or a government entity.
Whoever ends up doing the actual mapping is going to have to collect the raw data, analyze it, determine how to make it "fit" together in order to render it, then create the data sets. That is going to be a lot of work.
IMHO someone needs to begin to do that, because a visual rendering would be a great tool for analyzing the situation there (and epidemiological implications). Wanted to do that last year, but have been too ill. Still wondering if the FukuMess has trashed out my immune system once again. Was almost fully healthy when 3/11 happened. Remember spending most of the 60 days after 3/18/11 sleeping — severe fatigue.
I agree with Anne, I'm grateful you're taking a scientific approach to validating this information. So PB, is that a pic of you hanging out somewhere in outer space, doing your research work (i.e. the safe haven?) Do take care.
Lastly, what do you personally think the implications of all of this are?

I also uploaded a close-in pic of PU-B rods with the nifty-looking pyrimid-shaped 'hats' they have… and you can see the holes for the "C" shaped bit used for lifting them. Remember, these are meant to be put side-ways into a reactor? The reactor stays running while this is done. Wonder what all the fuss in Canada was to make "CANDU" reactors? That's how they work. You don't shut them off to change the core-load! Gee… convienient to breed stuff with one of them type reactors!
Report Comment
The problem is heat loading. That's why Japan did the try-one with sodium cooling. DISASTER! Sodium is about as dangerous to work around as radioactives! Still… candu plants have major issues with system faults. The crap keeps breaking down, and leaking. They came up with a multi-step/reactor solution. #3 was due to be scrapped. So, if the run went bad, the plant was to be junked, anyhow. #4 has never been right from day 1. They had put in purchase order for a whole new reactor core setup. So, is good excuse for it to be not producing elect. That lets them do PU extraction for about a years time.

Element (if you may be reading this): From what you contributed to ZH on 11/4/11 7:30- the scale that you describe that is so vast, the trillions upon uncountable trillions of highly radioactive micro-crystals being spread everywhere imaginable upon the sea breezes, yes, this is the stuff of our collective nightmare that would come down with the rain; instead of being the progenitor (the rain!) that gives life to all- it becomes the exact opposite!
Do you think that the presence of these nano-sized crystals will change the physical characteristics of the water in its entirety?
Whether, the raindrops fall containing these crystals, bucky balls, or kept from doing so, this doesn't bode well for the continuation of species.
