they had these results at least 5 weeks ago and that i believe was when the wind was blowing more north….since then the wind has been blowing south….also, why dont they give co-ordinates for these readings? the story still seems lacking some detail?

I realise that these measurement methods are all we have, but isn’t it a bit like trying to detect drunk drivers by counting road accidents? What about the hot ‘fuel fleas’? Smugly spreading your picnic blanket in the park where the grass tested ‘safe’ isn’t going to prevent the inhalation of a single plutonium particulate (and that’s all it would take).

When is the Tokyo population going to start a revolution and leave Tokyo. What are they waiting for? Or, they are too irradiated to think properly? Tokyo has to start moving to force the corrupt Japanese govt. to protect the dying kids living close to Fukushima and Tokyo.

I do not mean Russian revolution type revolt – I mean enough demonstrations that the Japanese govt. would realize ethics and peoples lives is more important than money and start evacuating people and reducing the damage from Fukushima, ban consumption of radioactive food.
As soon as Japanese govt. realize they will be held accountable, to keep the masses calm, will do what they were supposed to do back in March 2011.
Anyway, their ostrich, head in the sand current policy will backfire by October 2011 when the hospitals/ healthcare will be overwhelmed because of radiation related illnesses. Radiation death is not an easy one in most cases: thyroid, stomach, lung, intestines cancer, leuchemia, stomack ulcers, lung, liver, kidney diseases, etc and dealing with irritable people (another side effect of radiation).

I really believe these current spikes and plumes are directly related to TEPCO incinerating radioactive sludge etc. I wouldn’t be surprised if the filters meant to prevent most of the radioactivity from escaping during the burns sometimes get blown apart, tear, whatever.

The spikes occurring every few days in surrounding prefectures are definitely associated with the burning and I’d guess TEPCO does not want the Japanese people to know that. Most of the time the wind is blowing towards N. America though.

There was on Aug 18, very high radiation in rain in Toronto also (article on Aug 20 on enenews). I felt radiation in the air the last week.
My suspicion is it could be also, in addition to Fukushima, Pickering, Fort Calhoun or another nuclear power plant in the U.S..

As someone who has spoken out fairly consistently about the radiation levels in Tokyo Metropolitan area it does come with its issues. You can talk or report on Fukushima as much as you like but you even mention “Tokyo” you get crucified with some quite nasty private messages. I now understand why the person running this site seems to stay anonymous. Its a very hard topic when 30 million plus people don’t want to hear it. As an example Australia where I live has 21 million on the 6th largest land sized country(We own a third of Antartica on top of that – Not that anyone should own Antartica as I think it should never be exploited)
So when you are perceived as exposing the levels of radiation in Tokyo you need to be prepared to cop the politics that goes with that.

Excuse me I have made this point before but I think it is worth mentioning again the greater metro area of Tokyo has 35 million people. Think of the logistics required to move that many people and what that might mean to the world economy to shut down that economic engine.

I want to also encourage folks to consider their livers more. I doubt anyone will deny the liver is taking the hardest hit,…maybe lungs with hot particles,…but they’re everywhere, even in our tummies, so never mind that. The liver!
As many of you know, I had pancreas and liver cancer recently,…so I may be more susceptible, but here’s what just happened.
10 days ago I started having insomnia again, then a little ‘itch’, (liver itch), then I turned a bit yellow,…then,, my hair started falling out AGAIN, and then, my eyelashes fell out! So,…I went on a second gallbladder/liver flush this last week. I must recommend it STRONGLY. Do a google search on the lemon juice, epson salt, EVOO, and apple juice one-they are called simply, Liver flush, or Gallbladder liver flush.
Long GROSS story short,…the yellow is GONE, itch gone too. Slept like a baby,…and I saw the BILE that my liver has been choking on!
Our livers have never been worked this hard! Supplementing them is apparently NOT enough! (At least not if your liver is at all damaged).
Like a poster said yesterday, chelate, BLOCK, and anti-oxidize. I’d add ‘alkalize’, and ‘flush’!

Greetings and salutations to you all on this Sat Eve. It is raining…appearing as a welcome sight. Underneath the cool wetness though is a dismal discovery.
About an hour ago, we took a base reading of 55.5 CPM in the bathroom on a dry washcloth. The base readings here have been in the high 50′s as a normal background.
We then went out and gave the cloth a wipe on our square meter rain catch which had just been rained on and brought it in for a check.
Holy smokes! After checking it four times the highest reading was 282.6 CPM!!! We are doing ten minute averages. After another base check that is 54.4, we can now take that from the wet cloth reading and get a increased reading of 228.2 CPM! The local EPA site shows 2011-08-20 23:17:32-50CPM. ?:(
There is no doubt now that radiation is coming down in the rain here in the Durango, CO area. This is not a good turn of events here. The garden is wettened by the rain and we will be checking that next so stay tuned for more. Dang too, had the sights set on a nice salad tonight.

Before you go digging up your garden, collect one good rain sample and continue checking it every 40 minutes over several hours. If the numbers keep dropping by approx 50% then you are likely getting the “Radon gas effect.” I was getting similar results here in the North East the past several months. After dozens of tests, I realized something else was going on because my levels would steadily drop and the 1/2 life was to short (couldn’t make the trip from Japan). My wife was losing her mind and ready to move to Peru !
If it’s Radon related, in about 40 minutes, the excess count rate should be about half of what it was at the start of the test. In about 4 hours, the count rate should have returned to background levels. This half-life of approximately 40 minutes is a result of the decay chain of Pb-214 (27 minutes) to Bi-214 (20 minutes), both Radon decay products and strong gamma and beta emitters. Nothing with a half-life this short has made it across the ocean from Japan. Let us know how your test turned out.

No problem … I know how you feel. It took me a few weeks to figure it out. I get similar result when checking my well water filter too. We both live in areas known to have elevated levels of Radon. Much to my chagrin, I’m reading technical paper about all types of radiation weekly just to make sense of this.
It’s important to know when we are getting abnormally high readings that don’t decay. If the clicks ever remain high, I’d send my sample to Arnie Gundersen at fairewinds.com asap.
The more we learn now, the less garbage those who get paid to prop of Nukes, can feed us.

SP: I saw this earlier before I went to a United Way charity event and then had some of my second line of business jobs crop up. So I haven’t even thoroughly watched this clip, but it is so intriquing I have saved the clip as a standalone .MOV and .WMV file for future reference.
I doubt it is going to be deleted by censors…because his claims are so absolutely and utterly outrageous that most people would automatically give the Tin Foil Hat Award for Best Fear Mongerer to Arto Lauri!

On page 1 especially Arto gets the digital hammer but as you see a poster place the methane ice graphic at the bottom of that page it suddenly clears up one of the biggest mysteries I had about the video…namely…is there really such a formation 600 meters below the soil.
Because if it is and the corium at Fukushima manages to burn through 600 meters of rock and reaches it…Goodbye Japan! and goodbye probably planet earth.
I can see it now…Brian Jenning reports on ABC News: “Good evening, half the world blew into outer space today in Japan from a methane explosion…but first a word from our sponsors Hitachi and General Electric.”

So do I buy all Arto’s theories? Not yet…for example this assertion:

False. Russia has far from 70%…only 10%. In fact they have been buying uranium from the world leader in known reserves: Australia.

Now that last graph on that page does indicate the uranium mines have not been able to keep up with demand for military and civil industry demands since about the late 1980s (see second graph from the bottom on that page).
That means two things…to make up the difference they have been leaching from older fuels and second…they are pursuing reprocessed plutonium as the replacement fuel.
I found much more disturbing news about MOX fuel…supposedly no plants in America are using MOX if we can believe the NRC…hmm..tough sell there.
But they did allow Duke to try it for nearly 3 years at the Catawba Unit 1 in South Carolina:

It ended so badly apparently the NRC has sealed the records on what went wrong during the 4 year test run of MOX which they ended early. Scary stuff!
But the NRC won’t give up…they are still pushing for MOX at the Hanford plant in Washington state:
