TEPCO says no explosion occurred at No.2 reactor, NHK, November 29, 2011 (Emphasis Added):
[...] NHK has obtained Tokyo Electric Power Company’s interim report on the nuclear accident that was triggered by the earthquake and tsunami on March 11th. [...]
The company concluded in the report that there was no explosion at the No. 2 reactor, and that a blast at the No. 4 reactor was mistakenly believed to have occurred at the No. 2.
Later that day, pressure inside the No. 2 reactor vessel dropped sharply, and radiation levels near the plant’s main gate rose above 10 millisieverts per hour, then the highest level so far.
The interim report fails to specify how the leakage occurred at the containment vessel, just saying that gas in the vessel was somehow released into the air.
Watch video here.
Transcript Excerpts
NHK: “Investigators from TEPCO still can’t determine how radioactive substances were released and why“
NHK: “Workers reportedly heard any explosion near the containment vessel of the No. 2 reactor”
NHK: “Researchers believe No. 2 released the most radioactive materials of all reactors at the plant”
Shinichiro Kado, an associate professor at the University of Tokyo (SOURCE: “Expert urges probe of No.2 reactor leak”): “The containment vessel is the final fortress for keeping radioactive substances trapped inside the reactor. Its’ a cornerstone of the integrity of a nuclear plant. The breach of the containment vessel itself is extremely grave.”
NHK adds: “The spike in radiation levels following unspecified trouble at the No.2 reactor on March 15th was much more prominent than on March 12th or 14th, when explosions hit the No.1 and No.3 reactors.”
h/t TOJ
Was the spike had related to the similarly-timed “blast” at the spent fuel pool at Reactor No. 4? See: Top scientists refute Japan gov't: "Copious quantities" of radioactivity leaked from Spent Fuel Pool No. 4 -- A "significant part" of overall cesium release
At least the reactors had containment vessels, unlike the spent fuel pools…

Number four on the related posts list sums up the importance of what the expert was saying about the graveness of a breached containment:
http://enenews.com/reactor-no-2-has-multiple-4-inch-holes-in-containment-vessel
Guess what. it breached. it breached more than once.
But as they say, nothing to worry about, I’m sure the radioactive releases have been and are no more than one would receive while sitting down to a dinner of ten trillion bananas.

If I’d been more awake, I’d have factored in planes, the cosmos and those oh-so-radioactive cellphones too. but then i’d have to bring in the fact that Salt is more dangerous to eat in mass doses than plutonium into it, and I don’t think any of us could keep a straight face the rest of the night…
the brazil nuts was brilliant though! we should mail that in as a suggestion =P

If TEPCO management’s brain’s were explosives-they wouldn’t even be able to blow their nose! As far as the “map & flashlight” are concerned-they found their asses, but their heads are stuck so far up in them that they can’t see the fire lights of Fukushima!! LOL! And furthermore-Brazil nuts are too good for ‘em!!TEPCO can eat the peanuts from my shit!!!(lol, sorry if it’s a bit tood graphic & descriptive so close to dinnertime!)

It makes sense if there was no explosion of the building, the core melted out in one pile undisturbed went deeper in the ground and is now super extremely critical grave bad.
Report Comment
That is exactly right! If they don’t know where it went because it left no visible scars TEPCO claims immunity by saying they can’t do anything about it. It’s true they can’t do anything and it is very bad. The symptoms of the walking dead are showing up and there are three cores on the loose headed towards a water table. They don’t know which one has dug itself the deepest hole and when a hydro volcanic reaction could happen. Soon I get to see how radiation affects the ice shelves of the Arctic.
Report Comment
If it breached the containment vessel and went underground, it’s none of TEPCO’s business anymore. If radiation on a golf course belongs to the land owners, then there’s no law that stipulates that anything as far below the surface as the water table also belongs to the land owner. TEPCO lawyers are probably hard at work trying to figure this one out.
Maybe a big hydro-nuclear-volcanic explosion will solve their dilemma of having to contain a mess that can’t be contained as it is.

Anyone have a spare one of those UFO provided thingamajingies that turns molten corium into chicken gravy?
I lost my converter device somewhere in Disneyworld, between Space Mountain and the water ride.
This would be a good time to try it out and see if it really works.

When I see Brian Williams and Greenspan, known Illuminati and New World Order gurus, in the following companion video, I have to look at these videos and see a lot of NWO propaganda. We are never going to find the perfect society on this earth, because humans are not perfect. I see a propaganda which is preparing people to submit to the Illuminati. Whatever they say is just the opposite of what they are trying to bring about.

When a video is embedded without the source,at least in this particular instance, there is an attempt to sway by means of emotion. One needs to look at the source to help discern the motive. The internet is a great propaganda tool as well as a place to find more information.

I do not believe that if several people report hearing a strong blast sound, it could have been a mistake. Of course it depends on the place they were at the time when blast happened, and if the workers located at different points report one and the same, I would take their testimonies more seriously. It could be the sound of the cracking containment vessel on a large scale.
Report Comment
We will probably never hear from those workers as they are more than likely dead? All good for TEPCO, no witness= no need to make up any new cover up!

It’s not been made into a movie yet, but “The Prometheius Crisis” is a great book about a nuclear reactor meltdown. I read it about 20 years ago and ironically re-read it a few months before Fukushima.

This reactor type has a catastrophic design flaw: The suppression pool (aka torus) is outside of the primary containment. It lies below the reactor vessel and is connected to it with several large pipes.
These interconnections are stressed extremely in an earthquake event. I am pretty sure that this is the point where R2 broke. Furthermore the pipes/torus provide a perfect exit point for the corium.
They never spoke about this flaw, maybe to protect General Electric.
Report Comment
Remember when the workers said there is steam coming from the ground?
Look: The torus is in the ground next to the building:

Thanks for sharing this here! It is important.
Report Comment
I think you’re onto something here!-It makes perfect sense too. Maybe your very likely theory would also imply that it would make the inevitable & neccessary job of manually digging into the ground until hitting the corium a bit easier,or a better word to use might be to “simplify” locating the “blob” or whatever form it’s taken by then? The Chernobyl “blob” of corium is called “The Elephant’s Foot” due to the shape it assumed as it solidified. Considering the immensity of the “numerous” individual “blobs” of corium in this case-I wonder if it’ll assume the shapes of the rest of “The TEPCO Bros.and G.E.& Toshiba Circus” complete with The Big Top tent with animal shapes and/or perhaps it’s all “pooled” & creating “Mt.Fukushima”-a nuclear “volcano” destined to erupt again with even more devastating effect?!! Until you mentioned the Torus locations again,I’d been wondering if some of the fission events visible on the surface were perhaps the result of TEPCO’s bulldozing over the highly radioactive debris after the explosions which might’ve even consisted of entire fuel rod bundles that go critical from time to time. Now I’m thinking it implies much worse going on below the surface which I only hope that the worst of the events being underground are sparing us some of the harmful effect & spreading of elevated radiation levels!?? I’m also hoping that it buys us “victims” a little time while somebody grows a pair of balls & a brain capable of finally taking the initiative upon realizing that “somebody competent” & selfless will HAVE TO attack the problem up close & in person before it will cease to threaten EVERYONE regardless of where they try to hide!WELL-THOUGHT,LOGICAL & USEFUL POST!!Thanks tomb1! ~PEACE~
