  • Kashiwa City soil near rain spout from someone’s yard @ 97,500 Bq/kg [...]
  • That is an exceeding large amount of radioactivity to find in somebody’s soil.
  • The most unfortunate place was in a child’s playground, also in Kashiwa City.
  • This playground had a radioactivity in dirt that children play on of @ 41,500 Bq/kg.
  • I detected Cs-137 and Cs-134.They were so high they clouded everything else. There was nothing else I was able to detect as a result of it.
  • Very active, huge amounts of radioactivity.
  • Little children play on this everyday.

At 16:15 in

  • Here is the soil sample form the child’s park in Kashiwa City.
  • This plastic container is actually blocking a lot of the alpha particles.
  • When i pulled this out of the sample container, it was about double this.

    Excellent work by yet another independent tester.

    But… it begs the questions.

    WHERE our are 'agencies' who are supposed to do this and WHY are 'they' doing nothing??

    WHERE are the academics with PHD's who have access to equipment that would put an immediate end to this guessing. (Although, at this point, it's truly not a guess in my opinion.)

    WHERE is the military with all their super fancy testing equipment that we've paid for? Do not the families of our soldiers live on the soil and eat the foods that are being contaminated.

    Break the silence.

    Evacuate Japan! Stop Nuclear Power!! It's past time!!!

    The samples J-A and J-B are still hot (they will be after I am no longer around) and I keep them behind lead. It bothers me that I have to keep a few grams of sand from a children's play park sealed, labeled, and behind 1 inch of lead.

    I understand that the entire country is having problems, but they just forgave the debt to Burma and yet they have not cleaned this little park. Places where children and pregnant women can be found should be cleaned first.

    Women and children come first. That is how it has always been and for good reason. Without women we cease to exist and only through out children to we carry on.

    My Geiger Counter detections in the Southern Hemisphere have been helpful in getting some publicity on the seriousness of the situation at Fukushima. A New Zealand radio station GreenplanetFM aired an interview with me.

    The show has been to air and is now available as a podcast for listening on line, or for download. The podcast link is at the top of the page, and the interview starts after a bit of an introduction on synchronicity.

          Hello!

          You can always tell Fukushima-brand radio-cesium from those other imitation ones… (dry humor?) Fallout from testing, other accidents (e.g., Chernobyl, Windscale, etc), doesn't typically contain an equilibrium of Cs134. Cs134 decays by half in two years, so for a few more years if you find Cs137 without Cs134 you are probably looking at other sources.

          Cs137 decays via beta minus decay (it emits what is basically a high energy electron and electron anti-neutrino). It then moves "up" the periodic table to Barium 137m (the m means "metastable isomer", an excited state the atom can have for only a short time). Afterward, Ba137m emits a gamma ray at 661.66 keV to quiet the nucleus. Some of the electrons will either thrown off by the nucleus, emitting x-rays (internal conversion) or merely lower their orbits emitting x-rays.

          These key energy signatures allow us to know exactly which isotope of radio-cesium we have. Cs134 does a similar thing, but it stabilizes with different energy levels.

          Note: I just bought 130 Lbs of lead shielding to make my tests much cleaner. I'll have 180 Lbs of total lead shielding now. =)

          I'm painting it gold color (to protect against lead poisoning) to give some "style" =)

            Thank you so much, Tom, for your dedication to this important work! I agree wholeheartedly: the park needs to be cleaned up (if indeed that is at all possible) or shut down, and the children and families living in contaminated areas should be evacuated at TEPCO's and the Japanese gvt.'s expense.

      I have to wonder, how many clouds have passed over us through the years and we never knew.

      The call to local authorities got the typical response. "Of no concern" But, at least your local paper did a report. Is that newspaper accessible online?

      I did not expect the southern hemisphere to affected so soon. I guess Fuku has been blowing more goo than we are aware of.

        in my view , to your last point, the north south migration of contamination has been happening all along.. we had the odd high reading from southern australia late in the summer if i remember correctly! with more than some suspicion that it was from diachi..

    185 000 – 555 000 Bq/m²: migration allowed
    555 000 – 1 480 000 Bq/m²: right to rehousing

      You should also thank the brave and resourcful people, in paticular one person, who did so much to get samples to me here in the states! It's hard to do research without them.

      When my work project finishes (what has it been now… 2 years?) I will be going to Japan for a few weeks to aid in some software deployment. I can get more samples then. =)
