(From EX-SKF: The first half of the article is about Mr. Osumi, the first worker to die in May last year after the plant “recovery” work started. About him and his Thai wife, please read my post from July 11, 2011.)

The relationship between the cause of Mr. Osumi’s death and radiation exposure is unknown. However, it is still the radiation exposure that is most worrisome for the workers who work at Fukushima I Nuke Plant to wind down the accident. [...]

One of the subcontract workers told the newspaper:

“Right now, 70% of workers at the plant are migrant contract workers from all over Japan. Most of them have never worked at nuke plants before. The pay is 8000 yen to 13,000 yen [US$104 to $170] per day. Most of them are either in their 20s who are finding it difficult to land on any job, or in their 60s who have “graduated” from the previous jobs.”

As to the safety management, he said, “Before you start working at a nuclear power plant, you have to go through the “training before entering radiation control area”. But in reality the training is ceremonial. The assumptions in the textbook do not match the real job site in an emergency situation. There were some who could not read, but someone else filled in the test for them at the end of the training.” [...]

In the rest area where the workers eat lunch and smoke, the radiation level is 12 microsieverts/hour. “Among workers, we don’t talk about radiation levels. There’s no point.”

The worker divulged to us, “For now, they’ve managed to get workers from all over Japan. But there won’t be enough workers by summer, all bosses at the employment agencies say so.” Local construction companies also admit [to the scarcity of workers by summer.]

” [...] it’s mostly amateurs who work at the plant right now. Sooner or later, the supply of workers will dry up.” [...]

Memo from the desk (at Tokyo Shinbun): Workers at Fukushima I Nuke Plant are risking their lives. Some are doing it for 8000 yen per day. A councilman who also happens to work for TEPCO earns more than 10 million yen (US$130,000) per year. Executives who “descended from heaven” to cushy jobs in the “nuclear energy village” are alive and well. To move away from nuclear power generation is not just about energy issues. It is to question whether we will continue to ignore such “absurdity”.

Katsuyasu Iida, Director General of Tokyo Occupational Safety and Health Center, who deals with the health problems of nuclear workers

  • “Workers are made to work in a dangerous environment”
  • “The wage levels are going down, and there are cases of non-payment”
  • “It is getting harder to secure the workers”
  • He also says the safety management cannot be fully enforced by TEPCO alone, and demands the national government to step in
  • “They need to come up with the management system that include the subcontract workers”
  • “Unless they secure the [safe] work environment and work conditions, they cannot deal with the restoration work that may continue for a long while”

    • One has to have ‘expert’ witnesses. If no medical doctor will testify as to the harm caused to his patients, then there is no harm caused.

It may be possible to bring in some experts from outside, but it would be better if one of these Fukushima doctors would be willing to.

This video lays out very clearly the pressure and financial extortion methods that are used to keep all of the doctors quiet and in line with the nuclear industry line…

      http://youtu.be/GGRaaGsCxdA

Dr. Yamashita is the VP of the Fukushima Medical University, and is in a position to keep open or close any particular hospital in the region. Since he also controls a budget of over 1 $ Billion, no medical doctor will speak up against him, even if they disagree with what he says. Their jobs are on the line and he can have any doctor fired and make sure that they never work again.

Dr. Yamashita claims that radiation will hurt anyone, even in amounts of up to 100 mSv per year. He says people should send their children out to play and roll in the dirt even if outdoor exposure levels are in the range of 30-40 mSv, and that this is safe.

According to this video, several years ago, Dr. Yamashita was saying that anything more than 10 mSv was dangerous..

So now we have the Fukushima Province doctors and hospitals all forced to agree that low dose radiation ‘cannot hurt anyone’. This is how and why it is impossible for any doctor to EVER diagnose any disease or death as being caused by radiation, because they are getting HUGE pressure from the top down…

LOW DOSE RADIATION DOES NOT EXIST..

This is exactly how it was done in Russia after Chernobyl and after TMI in the US…

Minimize, confuse, apply pressure from the top, deny anything harmful happened, and go after anyone who says anything differently.

        The Masque of Anarchy

        “Stand ye calm and resolute,
Like a forest close and mute,
With folded arms and looks which are
        Weapons of unvanquished war.

And if then the tyrants dare,
Let them ride among you there,
Slash, and stab, and maim and hew,
What they like, that let them do.

With folded arms and steady eyes,
And little fear, and less surprise
Look upon them as they slay
Till their rage has died away

Then they will return with shame
To the place from which they came,
And the blood thus shed will speak
In hot blushes on their cheek.

        Rise like Lions after slumber
        In unvanquishable number,
Shake your chains to earth like dew
Which in sleep had fallen on you-

Ye are many — they are few”

    • Trainee doctors are avoiding working in Fukushima (REPOST)

To avoid the meaningless irradiation ,trainee doctors are avoiding applying for hospitals in Fukushima. One of the Fukushima hospitals ,Ohara general hospital ,there used to be 6 applicants of trainee doctors but just one person applied this year. They re-started recruiting since November. Even students at Fukushima medical university ,which is the only university with [...]

Yakuza must still be in charge. Until they throw up their hands…..

NO, wait, the Government is the Yakuza. I thought the government was hiding their nuke bomb plans by letting this whole thing go, but now I think they are more worried about their close ties to the Yakuza being exposed.

    Some mafias are more powerful….

The World goes round because of a series of mutual blackmails. Right now, the Government has no cards to play against the Yakuza.

Wow! That makes so much sense! “The World goes round because of a series of mutual blackmails.” Maybe that’s why some people are not heard when they go to people in power about this, because of their small or large part in the intricate network of moral compromise.

Many, many years ago I was lucky enough to hear Dr. Caldicott speak to the dangers of nuclear radiation. Irony? It was at UC Berkely, right down the hill from the cyclotron.

      Dr. Caldicott is my heroine.
