“Parish officials said hydrocarbons and debris bubbled up to the surface and caused major cracks in a well pad

WBRZ: There’s heightened anxiety tonight around the sinkhole around Bayou Corne […]

Officials there say they noticed something alarming happening on one of the well pads forcing them to shut down all activity there.

John Boudreaux, Assumption OEP Director: There is additional cracking that has occurred on well pad 3, where there’s cracks that have developed on that pad. They are an inch wide and a ruler goes down 14 inches. It seems that that land is sloughing in towards the sinkhole.

I was thinking earlier about rainbeaudais and how if it were me, I would want everyone to see what is happening to my neighborhood on TV. I know there are varying opinions as to the significance or level of danger in this situation, personally I think it is a dangerous unhealthy situation. I think most other civilians would agree.

    9 acres plus. Extremely unacceptable.

Suggests all other industrialized caverns should be re-evaluated for potential future neighborhood destruction NOW before it happens. I'm sure this will be expensive for the responsible companies, but lesson learned, I hope, for them.

This just makes me angry. John Boudreaux clearly states 'sloughing in", and liquid hydrocarbons coming to the surface, correct? Texas Brine claims the sinkhole is the same size, although admitting sloughing.

"Despite heavy rains and resulting high water, the shape and size of the sinkhole has remained virtually unchanged. Bubbling was noticed Friday in two locations on the surface near the center but the bubbling did not appear to be accompanied by liquid hydrocarbon material. In addition, a surface crack in the soil was discovered along the southern edge of the work area near the sinkhole. On Saturday morning, following several days of increased seismic activity being detected by the surface geophones, a sizable amount of vegetative debris rose to the surface in the center of the sinkhole, and several new surface cracks across the work area were discovered running from a northeast-to-southwest direction. As with the bubbling the
previous day, no liquid hydrocarbon was observed to have surfaced with the vegetative material. Several trees on the southern perimeter also sloughed into the sinkhole on Saturday."

How stupid do they truly think we all are? This is insanity. There are other VSP related issues in the update.

The thing I don't get about these salt caverns is why it is assumed earth layers don't shift move and quake over time? Are salt layers considered\known to be more static and stable than other layers? Bunkers are another subject I have little knowledge on but to me the concrete reinforcement and rebar(?) etc gives me some confidence it can withstand earth's forces including issues of pressure etc. Potentially could be undone by mere rain water.

Actually Anthony, salt layers creep. Creep is the time-dependent plastic strain at constant stress and temperature. Salt rock acts in the earth pretty much the same as a liquid does, but geologically speaking, it happens over a long period of time, so it is thought to be relatively stable.

Only thing is, this is presuming that the temperatures and pressures remain constant. Now, throw into the dynamics of a hole being brined out,(for a cavern), and it's integrity is slightly compromised. Then fill it with whatever gas or soup of choice under pressure, and in that local area, the temperatures rise, and the pressures in no longer constant. As it is filled or drawn down, then you have essentially a lung breathing in and out with lower and higher pressures and temperatures. Now think of fifty of these 'lungs' all over a salt diapir, and salt creep rises exponentially.

The only thing that holds salt rock in formation is the denser rock that encases the salt rock, otherwise it is plastic and pliable. With all the changing pressures and temperatures and the capillary movement, then over time these presure gradients can fractures the containing shale, (in this case), entombing the salt rock and cause seismic activity through expanding and deflating stresses, and constant temperature changes.

Rock is not meant to breathe in this manner and can easily cause the confining layers to fracture, allowing a high speed creep, which in turn creates void fractures (cont.)

(Cont.) in the salt rock itself. Most times these are lateral fault lines along the salt welds, which are where the salt layers abut each other.

Hope I have helped in some small way.

No, that is definiitely movement built. All equipment was removed yesterday. As I stated on another thread…this event is not over by a longshot. It's just getting revved up.

Also, according to TB, we will soon have seismos, and not just heli's. Should have had them all along. Then we can really see what is happening 'down there'.

I would just like to see the rest of the flyover! I hate how they are covering up and just picking and choosing what they will be showing us.

LOL, Built. I am with you on that. The chopper stays up for an hour and we get 18 seconds…unreal. You should just tell Rainbow to march right down there and demand the rest of the footage!
If they don't shoot her first, that is. So much about this…is so wrong.
Honestly, the residents should be outraged enough to march down there and demand all relevant vids and real updates, and not wait for some controlled meeting to voice their concerns.

Revenge of the fracking sludge, coming back to destroy the gates of the place where it was originally imprisoned.

You honestly think that if you keep saying this crap dosdos, that will actually make it true? You need to look in Texas waste diposal salt domes if you want to rant about that, but no shred of evidence that has ever been done at Napoleonville.
      TENORM, possibly. Fracking Sludge? None.

Why am I reminded of that song about the old lady who swallowed the fly? I know of a sinkhole that swallowed a well. Bloody hell, it swallowed a well? It swallowed the well to fill the void, how absoid, to fill up a void. And I dont know why the the void grew apace, such a disgrace, the void grew apace. Perhaps we'll die.
