Follow-up to: Russia TV: Meteor "could be a little teaser of what’s coming" -- 20,000 personnel still on high alert -- "This is essentially a giant nuclear facility... 7 plants here produce fuel" (VIDEO)

Host: We are getting suggestions here at RT that the meteorite that came in just east of the Urals this morning was the preemptive part, the beginning nose part, of what could be a bigger chunk coming in in the next few hours. Do you know anything about that?
Piers Corbyn, Astrophysicist: Well… I don’t know. But of course you see these things generally have originated from something bigger which is breaking up or broken up even millions of years ago, so we don’t know. But I would say the likelihood of something more coming is greater now than say at any other time. It doesn’t mean it’s very likely, maybe only 1 percent chance of something big happening. But of course normally the chance of something big happening would be much less.
Host: We’re getting reports that if there is this chunk and apparently there is a chunk, it’s going to be passing by the next 5 or 6 hours (2:00p-3:00p ET) over the Pacific Region.

If another bigger piece is passing over the Pacific, I just hope it doesn't go anywhere near Fukushima and its spent fuel pools.

Anywhere away of any NPP would be nice, the other concern is that the gravitational pull of the planet don't pull this thing even if the chances are low.

Meteor Crashes in Cuba Day After Russia Fireball
Friday, February 15, 2013 9:10
**Cuba Update: Apparently, another potential meteor crash may have happened in Cuba today. Related? From the foreign language news site: "In a report released this morning by Rodas, town in the province of Cienfuegos, witnesses described a very bright light that has come to have large size, comparable to that of a bus, before exploding in the sky."
"it was really unexpectedly. it shined like 10 suns. all my windows in my house was broken. people was in panic in first hours. it's not funny, really. But people is calm now." – Facebook comment on CNN article**

Drrrr we dunno. Wow.All the technology and satellites? I think he meant "we don't want everyone to know". Just who they decide. Time to get their hands out of our pockets. NASA coverage is juvenile.

Hmmm… suspicious. NASA:
"The trajectory of the Russian meteorite was significantly different than the trajectory of the asteroid 2012 DA14, making it a completely unrelated object,” the space agency said on its website. “In videos of the meteor, it is seen to pass from left to right in front of the rising sun, which means it was traveling from north to south. Asteroid DA14's trajectory is in the opposite direction, from south to north."
Huge twin 'burn' tails before it hit? Nothing to do with DA14? This took out communications? I dunno… sounds like an EMP weapon taken out by Russian missles.
It might have also been friendly, intelligent life from another planet just stopping by to watch the asteroid with us. The little green fellows are all excited that someone from earth is coming up to greet them. The Captain is having the crew tidy up their UFO to greet the Earthlings, when – all of a sudden – BAM! Taken out by a Russina anti-ICBM missle.
Their pals on the Death Star will not be amused.

No missiles … the high quality , wide angle photos of the sky do not show any missile trail but only that of the meteorite .
Besides , no Proud Russian military came forward and acknoledge that the Iskander missile or the S-400 did the job …
Nobody saw it coming , including the NATO Balistic Shield radars … hmmm ,

"Could be"??..We have sighting on this..Houston?…LOL

PS..I did not mean this is funny in anyway.
NASA has a lot of hardware up there to be wrong ..about the trajectory.

Hopefully the "impacts" of the asteroid and meteorites will remain minimal and manageable when the danger has passed and the event is over & damages & injuries are assessed?!~But there could be a "positive"(?)side to the story since it shows yet another unplanned-for danger that nuke plant operators & fuel processing/storage facilities can't do anything about in terms of prevention or response to a direct hit on a sensitive part of the places that have the potential to become yet another ELE or add more to the one already suspected of existing in "slow-motion" aka "3/11"-& offers "new" insight on an "old" threat as yet another reason to shut down & PROPERLY secure nuke operations that "ought" to be added to the list of concerns & taken into consideration for ANY industrial activities & mfg. sites where HAZMAT's are located & at risk?!….on the other hand I wouldn't mind finding a large & unusual meteorite after the event is over with since I could pay off debts & make do nicely with the $100,000 to $1,000,000 that meteorites often bring in from their sales!!(?)
~Even with my poor mathematical skills(grammar too,lol!)-I'm thinking today might be a good day to buy a lottery ticket since my life is kind of ass-backwards & twisted and at the moment in my favor since most others are more likely to be struck by lightning,or meteorites,in a plane crash, etc. than to win the lottery and I've already been struck by lightning & shot so who knows?!!~LOL~

What makes anyone think it's a meteorite? . . It wasn't even seen coming in from outer space, with the weak excuse that it came from the direction of the sun, lol.

We're apparently going through "a rough patch" of the galaxy — galactic plane, possible black hole with huge gravitational pull that locks in debris. It's just hard to get any high-profile science calculations with this. But if this kind of event becomes common, beware its hitting ANY nuclear plant. So many things we cannot really blame on Nature….

awesome image Anthony! While the 'sophisticated' monkeys were busy building death machines, hundreds of billions of planet killers were quietly whizzing past. Thing is, they've known about this (deadly meteor impacts) for centuries and did nothing; even when they had the means over the last half-century! I think it's time to amend (the overrated) Einstein's definition of stupidity, to say "The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over again, even when you had the solution in hand."

Wow, Rose. Don't you find that Orange County "chaser plume" remarkably similar to the shape (in one of the angles) of the Russian Meteor? Everyone may say, well, them, that confirms it, it's a meteor. But. I thought the two equal trails were very odd for a meteor as the Russian video showed. Also, it seemed odd that after exploding, the smaller diameter streak of light continued in the exact trajectory as if nothing had happened. If a high velocity space object is blown to smithereens, is it likely one small portion would continue the exact same trajectory…while no other evidence of aftermath of busted debris is anywhere to be seen? Spooky…like the mass was vaporized, but the pure center continued. I think I was getting bleary eyed when I saw what could have been light slits in the windows of a disk, rather than tracer-like remnants from the blast, continuing in a perfect line. I also, noticed the trajectory to be an arc, and so, not entirely driven by gravity. Then, too, did you see those little barbed edges that began to stick out in patterns all up and down the white smoke trail(which emitted dense black smoke on the ground).? Have you ever seen the Aurora's pattern ? I've seen it three times in Fl. Not the same as this but very similar.

@irhologram.. Yep..something odd about the trajectory..the object doesn't look like it derives from deep space.
I did notice the double plumes.
I wonder what this is.

not double plumes Heart. It's what referred to as a billowing plume; which depending on the observers vantage point, can have the appearance of more than one streamer. The 'cloudy' nature is due to atmospherics and consistency of burning matter. Most think of meteors as being solely consisting of dense metallic materials. Depending on the origin of the material, they can consist of a wide variety of 'natural' materials. The misconception that meteors are solely composed of metals is due more to the remaining remnants that recovered…

The chance that these 2 event are unrelated is 5.5 million to 1
We kind of know that harm to ourselves from a meteor is mostly a crap shoot, but would have been nice if some scientist had the balls to explain how Asteroids are usually part of an Asteroid field which consists of "other rocks" formed at the same time the asteroid was formed and moving much the same as the main asteroid.
We might decide that is a good day to just chill at home rather than say go on a business trip away from our family or go sailing, etc.
Here are the odds

anything that fast.. "Orbital speeds or more" that hits atmosphere will generate a plasma shock-wake before it. They are lucky it was both small, and not a more shallow trajectory! It would have not just blasted them with shock wave… but also fried them with a heat wave as well! Had I been there to see such…? I'd have beat-feet for cover away from glass and as best could… shelter from heat at same time. Until it's upon you, is no way to grasp its size… and were it a bigger one…? The time it took to understand it, would be enough to spell your death. And anything that lights-up brighter than the sun in day-time..? To look at such… is just DUMB! It's a good way to get yourself permanently BLIND!
But such heating causes any liquid inside to become gas and, ignite and explode in way that often fractures them… it's normal.
