Daily Press, Aug 5, 2014 (emphasis added):  MYSTERY ILLNESS — Alyssa Langel['s] three-year-old horse… has large patches of skin exposed. [Owners] remain unsure what caused many horses to manifest swollen eyes and lips, as well as blisters… They heard of a similar outbreak affecting other horse communities in California.

CBS, Aug 6, 2014 (h/t Anonymous tip): There’s a mystery about what’s making dozens of horses sick here in Southern California. >> Watch it here

Kendall Melline, owner of sick horses: “It’s devastating… my national champion… her entire body, her entire first layer of skin is going to fall off.”… She’s not seen any improvement… and is very concerned.

Melline: “Her eyes are swollen almost completely shut… I’ve heard about 70 other horses have come down with something like this.”

Stephanie Dorn, owner of sick horses: “I don’t know what this even is… She has mouth sores all over… her lips are just swollen humongous… I’ve never seen anything like this… Nobody will even tell us what it is… it’s heartbreaking.”

Chuck Burt, feed store owner: “Speaking with professionals, veterinarians and toxicologists up in UC Davis, it is a mystery”… “It’s the first time I’ve seen it. It’s the first time a lot of people have seen it.”

Deborah Jasper, owner of sick horses: Four of her horses showed burns… one [has] high levels of protein in the liver, which may lead to organ damage… “This has been a nightmare.”

The Horse, Aug 7, 2014: The horses can also experience liver damage…

Press Enterprise, Aug 12, 2014: [Brian Cockerton's] two horses had… rashes and burn lesions …  lesions spread over most of the horses’ bodies [and they're] in pain. “It’s horrible… dozens of cases [are] affecting horses in a widespread area of Southern California in at least the past 2 1/2 weeks…. There may well be many more unreported cases, [an official] added… hair and skin – later began falling off in big patches [and one] fainted twice while being washed… A farrier told Cockerton he hasn’t seen anything like it in 40 years of shoeing horses.

CBS, Aug 6, 2014: UC Davis tested the hay and it came back clean. They say it’s possible this was just an anomaly. >> Watch it here

Press Enterprise, Aug 12, 2014: Toxicologists have not definitively identified [anything in the horses' food, said state official Dr. Kent Fowler], describing it as a “very odd occurrence.”

ABC News, Aug 4, 2014: Mystery at the Racetrack; 10 Horses Dead this Season — A growing mystery at… Del Mar in Southern California…. ‘Chattering Gambler’ died of an apparent heart attack, the 10th to die since the racing season opened 3 weeks ago. 3 from natural causes… “When you have 10 horses dying, and can’t pinpoint one thing or another, it’s a mystery.”… These mystery maladies could be a public-relations nightmare… >> Watch here

HOW SAD! Everyone with beloved pets (like our bird and kitty) should also be daily giving them boron (powder in capsule) to rid body of radiation and liquid iodine in her food and drinking water to help thyroid. I mix the boron and liquid iodine drops in kitty's wet food. I sprinkle the boron on top of birdie's seed container and put iodine drops in her water holder. Humans should take at least 12 mg. capsule of iodine daily for this. Almonds and almond milk will kill cancer cells.
Help each other survive! Blessings to you ALL!

It's not necessarily true that it will be written off and covered off. Race horses owners are a wealthy class and their investments are their horses. And it doesn't take much research to know that the heart attack part of it, at least, is likely caused by cesium. Plus race horse owners in other States may want to know what happened to their competitors. And if some of any of those people look at what is also happening to the marine animal population with sores and seizures and failing livers, even disinformed people may not be stupid forever.

We can only hope. But they are some expensive animals for sure and also the gambling money lost while the race track people scramble to put sod back to replace the newish fake stuff. There will be some mad people if the horses continue to break their legs after all.

I read all the comments in one of the links (the Horse Club type site?) Anyway…many many concerned horse owners there.

I'm trying to remember the symptoms and ailments of the wild elk that were having problems. They blamed that one on water pathogens I think.

Why wouldn't this Fukushima Disaster get worse as times goes on for animals, humans, plants, water, and so on.

There is a jet stream, dispersing it into larger areas, and will still be as deadly. It will not weaken by itself.

This disaster has not gone poof or will anytime soon.

I thoroughly agree with MBHP. He is completely correct about the alkaline situation. In fact, cancer loves sugar- everyone of the 200 names it is disguised as… in everything, especially processed foods. Being in a farming area, the majority of the farmers don't care. Their soil is nothing but dead black nothing. They have no living worms or microbes on it- in order to make things grow they spray the S@#T out of it with chemicals that are suppose to replace manure. Then spray the hell out of every bug- including bad and good. This is the money hungry farmer of today- the so-called good stewards of the land.
I suggest (although I am not a Dr.) for all to get ph strips and maintain a ph level of between 7.0 and 7.5 in your system. At between 8.0 and 8.5 level held for 4 or 5 days, it kills cancer cells, although this cycle may have to be repeated several times. The best is Arm & Hammer Baking Soda. With cancer it is suggested to use maple syrup or honey as a Trojan Horse for cancer cells. Also check with your Doctor first on taking baking soda, preferably a homeopathic doctor. And the best to all, and MBPH thanks for your great contribution on here.

Most factory mega farms use chemical WMD to raise crops, and have huge carbon footprints, utilize GMO crops and poisons.

Dead soils, dead foods, dead end future…

And they don't even know, because they buy the lie that high tech science can save humanity somehow.

That science is missing the heart, the spirit and the connection with Nature, it's laws and staying in harmony with it.

As a poor and suicidal substitute, mega farmers are at war with all of Nature, killing everything to make a short term profit.

Everyone knows how that works, in the nuclear arena.

    • I have recently been buying, storing and eating raw, unfiltered honey and I have been feeling much better lately. I only buy local honey that is inexpensive, delicious and chemical-free. Store-bought honey is mostly junk. Two local bee "farms" within 10 miles of me sell 6 lbs (1/2 gallon) for about $25. Good quality nutrition that is cheap that requires no refrigeration and can be stored for years.

Two other things that I have been consuming are raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar (Bragg organic), green tea extract and oil of Oregano. Oil of Oregano also helps heal cuts and sores externally, but it's a bit expensive.

      Thanks for the above info.

There is no "Hallelujah" in the immense suffering and deaths to come. Would you walk right into Fukushima, which is becoming saturated with sick children, and start shouting "Hallelujah!"? Or go right up to the Pacific Ocean and start shouting "Hallelujah!" to all the dying marine animals?

You need to learn better. Go be an evangelist on some other website. I find this unseemly.

Dr. Mark Sircus gives the best suggestions for how to use BAKING SODA and why. He considers it a HUGE preventative for cancer. Possibly because it keeps the body ALKALINE. Cancer loves acid, hates alkaline. And I imagine that sugar makes the body more acid too.

Gurly Stewart cook, engineer and first mate me. Pulled in late after retrieving the body of a captain who was dragged overboard from his small gillnetter that was doing night fishing. We were waiting for the CG Bouy Tender "White Holly" to meet us and transfer the body.

There is a small creek that flows into the bay and a small dock with a giant anchor at the end. I jumped into the dingy with my salmon net to get some fresh crab that were plentiful in the shallows. Caught two nice male dungeness crab that were red and one blue dungeness crab. Completely blue.

When we got back to Ketchikan to unload our fish at the cannery we asked about the blue crab we caught and they said that while uncommon catching a blue crab was not unheard of at all. He said if we caught a blue "box crab" it could be worth hundreds of dollars.

Maybe I should shut up now or be asked to fuck off and die like cd2 was asked to do by DisasterInterpretationDissorder. Your one rude and ignorant SOB, DisasterInterpretationDissorder.

        • All I can say is I come from a family of commercial fishermen…5 salmon trollers in all, fishing the Pacific coast from Washington to the SE Alaska grounds through four decades. Me as my dad's deckhand, 5 months each summer of '52, '53 and '54, first on the 37' Betty, then the 43' Redwing. My brothers deck handed the next years and later bought their own boats.

Genetic anomalies were always rare, we never came across any ourselves. Our fish were big, bright and healthy…no tumors or lesions. The only whales we ever saw breaching were when they were knocking their barnacles off. So many dogfish and sea lions sneaking up underwater biting off chunks of our fish before we could finish getting the gear up, that's when I learned to swear like my dad. I loved going in to sell the fish, gas and ice up after an 8 or 10 day trip out of sight of land. I got to roam the beaches which were full of life in every little cove and if it was storming, some rain soaked trails to explore in the woods on an extra day off.

My friends up there say I wouldn't recognize it now. What happened to the pesky seagulls that dive bombed the boat as we tossed over fish guts and gills. "Feed me, feed me!" That's what I thought they were screaming. Not so many anymore I've heard? I would even miss them. Yeah, I speak from the heart.

I'm speaking from personal observations of what actually happened. Until your a crew member of a commercial vessel and devote your life to the ocean you are a bystander. A landlubber and are best off watching Deadliest Catch.

You need to look for that which is not common. When you don't explore and look then you can't make any statement pro or con. I looked and I caught a blue dungeness crab plain and simple. By the way most trollers are NEVER out of sight of land unless you are fishing for early Kings and Coho or fishing the the Dixon Entrance, but even back then there were closed waters and the fishing grounds were tightly controled. Early trollers were not big enough to carry ice and sold to tenders. Romanticism is nice but reality should be focused upon now.

Don't discount reality when it is spoken. But question everything to the point wherein your friends beliefs are one thing, but only verifiable when you physically go and witness it yourself.

The Pacific Ocean is not dead. It is however dying. Just like the land is and the air we breath.

If I believed everything I read here on ENE I would personally check myself into the GrayStone Hotel where everyone has an indelible smile on their face.

Personal attacks must end on this site or it will disenfranchise all who come here for information and then to make up their own mind. Anger in a debate is called a gun duel. Foul language is the sign of ignorance.

Well, look at your marine charts. When we fished way west of Lazerie Island (AK) our whole fishing group of commercial friends made our livings fishing salmon in those waters. Season was about 5 months and why I missed a couple months of school every summer. Also we fished (very much out of sight of land again) out of Neah Bay, WA, if I remember right it took dad about 5 hrs to run out to what was called the 40 mile bank. (A large shallows where we and our fleet friends stayed out and did the long trips). Our holds were good for keeping the tons of fish iced (ya put salt sprinkles on every layer as the pen boards go up) until about the 8th day….then the run back to sell to the dock processing plant (not to a "tender") and do it all again, weather permitting. Lots of old pics of those days.

My dad was a hardass. I ran gurdies, pulled and put lines back down, cleaned fish, kept trolling speed even, watched for kelp patches or debris and read charts every day while my dad grabbed a 2 hr nap. Had the *Iron Mike* to autosteer the boat in between being being in the pilot house to hand steer. Had my marine operator's radio license and let my dad's friends know if we hit a hot spot or patch of feed.

I got in on some times that will never be repeated and it's not fun to know that era is probably over for a lot of types of commercial fishermen.

Marine mystery disease along Pacific Coast baffles scientists

"The ones I'm seeing, a very large percentage appear to be diseased," stated Charlie Seablom, a volunteer for Island County Beach Watchers, to the Whidbey News-Times. "It's real[ly] sad to see animals like that die off…. I just hope they find the cause and then maybe a cure before they're all gone."

    :| *sigh*

Scientists claim that they don't know what's causing the widespread disease, attributing it to some unknown virus or pathogen that must be circulating in ocean waters. Others blame warmer-than-usual ocean temperatures that they say must be incubating the mystery disease, avoiding any talk of the role that environmental pollution and Fukushima radiation could be playing in the phenomenon.

The thing that strikes me about the apparant consequences of fukushima – the the die-offs, lesions, sores, mutations in the animal and insect kingdom, and the widely reported health effects on humans, is that they were all predicted by the scientists who studied the effects of chernobyl, by screeds of other scientists over many decades, by the people quoted by enenews, and by the many smart people who visit this site. That's good enough for me. I don't need a detailed, scientifically proven, verified roadmap of all the byways to get from A to B. The smokescreen raised by the nuclear industry is just as visible. The scale of the cover-up tells you the scale of the disaster. The cover-up has delayed emergence of the truth and worsened the consequences, so chances are people will one day be seriously pissed off, even if by then they will be too sick and tired to do much about it.

One of them is in Japan – one is in Austria – - do you think Oak Ridge would jump on the chance to test the animals. Nothing will happen until this starts to happen to people -skin leisions, hair falling out, burns after swimming in the ocean that show up a few days later, headaches, fatigue, sudden heart attacks, cancers, etc.

It's a shame that humanity wasn't able to enter and progress into the Industrial Age with a bit of caution & restraint when it came to a lot of technologies that the best minds in science never even fully grasped or came close to controlling in any meaningful ways that offer more benefits than harm. I bet I speak for many here when I say that I'd rather live the crude, rustic yet much healthier lifestyles of the 1800's for instance and would forgo the modern, toxic conveniences & luxuries electricity brought us with electronics including every lit light bulb in existence for the chance of having a simple, healthy,LONGer life with my soulmate & loved ones!-A simple cave with a fire for heat & illumination & cooking with clean water & crops, healthy game & peeps who work together for the common good's better than what "GE brought to life" IMHO! No doubt you've absorbed a lot of information from Enenews and 'Newsers since 3/11, so my guess is that you're probably better informed than you may give yourself credit for (intelligence is a given–you're here, right???). :-)

I'm a parent too and it absolutely adds a different, searing new dimension to trying to comprehend the insanity "this flawed technology".

Nuke-perp criminals all: their assets should be seized for restitution to those injured (it will never be enough as there are so many!!!) and they should be tried for crimes against humanity and the Earth. But that will not happen, if it happens at all, until the world is in very bad shape.

There are many reasons why people stay. When their backs are against the wall, faced with stay-and-die vs. leave-all-to-survive stark alternatives, some will still chose to stay–for loved ones, to take a stand, for many reasons. The sad fact is that there are few, if any, really "safe" places to relocate. What is safe today may be ground-zero for a nuclear fast- or slow-moving disaster.

We all have been/are being rad exposed and poisoned. When people truly realize the magnitude of these crimes and losses, they will be VERY ANGRY. The best you can do now is to try protect your loved ones, help raise awareness and bring the nuke-perps to justice.

Oh yeah, and keep "lurking" and posting here on Enenews. :-)

The Starfish die off has happened before with the EXACT same way of dying, which isn't by heart attack, the Starfish melted away has they have in several past years BEFORE Fukushima.

The birds had been reported dropping from the sky in LARGE numbers SEVERAL years before Fukushima and the cause of Death is still UN-known.

And do be stupid enough to come back and tell me that Hundreds of birds were all infected with radiation and ALL died on the exact same second while they flew in a large group!

SAME with the Blue crabs in Alaska, they were seen there YEARS BEFORE Fukushima as well as other PLACES around the world and are caused by natural genetic mutations including white spotted red king crabs and red king crabs with yellow colored legs.

cd2, I was born in California. I've lived most of my life within walking distance of the ocean. I've never seen sea life dying off like it has been lately. Starfish may have died off in the past, but not in the numbers we're seeing now. I have never seen massive schools of anchovies and other fish washing up on the shore like I've seen over the past few years. I've never heard of, or seen, sea mammals dying on the beaches like they have been dying lately. So don't try to downplay the significance of these events. You may find stories of these things happening before 3/11, but hasn't the world been a dump for nuclear waste and a testing ground for nuclear weapons for decades now? Perhaps it's only now we're seeing the cumulative affects of these atrocious events. Perhaps the more recent and much more serious nuclear meltdowns seen in FUKU, and the subsequent ongoing and uncontrolled release of radioactive water into the Pacific, and plume of radioactive particles that circle the globe as we speak are finally taking their toll.

"War comes after an earthquake," wrote "Japan's King of Rock" in around 2000, 11 years before the Great East Japan Earthquake devastated the Tohoku region. "Politicians who want to have a military start saying boisterous things on TV. They make fun of the people and stir them to start a war."

    1. The gull and other bird species presence at the local surf breaks have diminished considerably. And on many days in a row, especially when the air is very wet, as we call it, with moisture, they are mostly gone. This is a massive change from before 2011, when these sea birds OWNED the beaches.

    2. The sand, tide, and currents have changed, changing the surf breaks. This began to appear in late summer to early 2012. To the point with the state of calif. has been using dumptrucks to replace the sand and building small rock seawalls to contain the weird and NEW erosion patterns that had stayed mostly unchanged in the last 30 years of my being in these waters.

    3. Also, we don't see as many dolphins as we used out in the lineup. Was a time, every weekend, you would see two or three pods a day swimming around the surfers outside, now, haven't seen any all year.

Some scientists think we are entering the 6th great extinction event, the last one being 65 million years ago. I tend to doubt that all of this is just because of Fukushima. I think there is a confluence of events… alterations in our environment due to man's interference on this planet.

James Temple: "And it’s only likely to get worse. The U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change report in 2007 predicts that an increase of 3.5 degrees Celsius, within the range of scientistic forecasts for 2100, could wipe out 40 to 70 percent of the species assessed so far."

Yes, mairs, I agree. Having an economy that must grow, in order to avoid collapse, human beings are bleeding the resources of this planet at an incredibly fast pace. And, in the process, the planet is being decimated. What we're doing on so many fronts is just not sustainable. Generally, it seems that people don't want to rock the boat as long as they have a feeling of security, even if it's under a house of cards, and they avoid any news that might reveal the truth whenever it looks like it will threaten that fragile thread of security they hold onto. Although it does seem like Fukushima could be the final nail in the coffin, where turning back is impossible, there are so many other ways we're screwing things up, it's just a matter of time before the whole thing comes tumbling down for mankind.

The "free market" works in some ways, but when it comes to the fundamental things that every generation must have to survive, like an abundant supply of clean water, air that is pure and healthy to breath and food that is not contaminated with chemicals or genetically manipulated for bigger profits, the system fails miserably. It may sound selfish, but I'm glad I've lived most of my life with a fairly good supply of those basic necessities, and actually took them for granted. I worry for the future of today's children.

mairs- what many do not know is that our solar system is now north of galactic center, the last great extinction 65 million years ago occurred north of galactic center.

      Article from 2007
      http://www.space.com/3721-world-hypothesis-cosmic-forces-control-life-earth.html

      Synopsis:
"In particular, our Sun moves toward and away from the Milky Way's center, and also up and down through the galactic plane. One complete up-and-down cycle takes 64 million years- suspiciously similar to Earth's biodiversity cycle."

I am sickest for the creatures. All of them. I can't express that much sympathy for humanity at this point, including myself, for not having the wisdom to have stopped this YEARS ago. I am disgusted with the ignorant, arrogant assholes who support nuke-anything, and all these mindless slabs of meat that keep breeding like a disease. I am on the east coast because of a premonition. I don't want to be here. No one here even acknowledges this atrocity, and they won't till it's too late. Humanity has become nothing more than a self-serving, parasitic, sack of cancerous shit that has coated the earth with it's evil. I only wish like hell the sacred creatures didn't have to suffer. We ARE a cancer upon the earth.

BTW – Is there an official count to the sick horses? I tried to find in the articles but I couldn't find any number. How is it appropriate to just throw around the vague descriptive 'dozens' to report an epidemic.
'Dozens' – how many dozens? 2 dozens? A hundred dozens?

  • I hear you, but I am also hearing alot of Agenda 21 on this thread, especially after someone makes a direct observation. If every post yeilds a bunch of Agenda 21 malarky to push that animals over human bs, then the fascists are trying to control the dialect on enenews.

"For the last week, from Shugnak all the way down to Kotzebue, people are reporting dead fish washed up on the banks of Northwest Alaska's Kobuk River in astonishing numbers. The fish appear to have been healthy and unspawned. Some have mysterious white welts dotting their backs."

"I'm 51 years old and I've never seen this in my whole life," Jackson said from Kiana Monday. He said the fish have started to wash up in the village of Kiana, an Inupiat community of about 400 at the confluence of the Kobuk and Squirrel rivers."
