The leak in a massive underground double-shell nuclear waste tank at the Hanford Site has grown significantly since the leak was first announced to the public last fall, according to sources who have seen new inspection video and photographs.

The tank — known as AY-102 — holds 860,000 gallons of radioactive waste generated during decades of plutonium production […]

The sources who spoke with KING 5 said the amount of waste that has spilled out of the primary tank into the annulus -– the hollow space separating the tank’s inner and outer walls — has grown substantially in recent months. […]

The new video of the waste also shows much more bright green liquid than workers had seen before. The presence of green, wet material means it is new. […]

now even the nuclearats can claim they've gone 'green'…

This is truly dire and the DOE won't even grant reporters an appointment they know as we do that nothing can be done with this highly contaminated waste so like the Japanese they choose to ignore the issue or so it seems.

    Beavith…she thed annuluth..uuhh…uuhh

People of Washington and Oregon need to demand that Hanford be cleaned up and removed. Start this action now, and do not fail.

DOE administation political appointees are closely related to skunks or weasels..your choice. All is related to "image"..they have forgot WE ARE THE TAXPAYERS AND OWN THEIR TUSHES..and really will if they don't clean it up immediately.

The Hanford site is huge, 586 square miles, burial trenches for nuclear wastes from reactors, submarines, bomb making and who knows what else.

Hanford, a government site where 60,000 nuclear weapons were made…conferring safety to our republic.

No sacrifice of life was too large to secure safety, no war too great to secure liberty, no expenditure too great to secure wealth, no radioactive toxic waste dump too large in order to bring health and security. 25 million cubic feet of radioactive waste.

Leading the world toward a better tomorrow…for the insane 0.1%

    "bright green liquid"

Oh, I'm on TV! Where is the candid camera?

"Look, we know 'bright green liquid' from 'The Simpsoms'
there is no real danger in this stuff, you can play with!"

    Full channel deception.

Ironic, no? the most powerful, (albeit corrupt), "super power" in history could very well suffer the same fate as it's hegemonious victims….more slowly at first, then snowballing through rapacious greed of it's "benevolent" corporations and whore-like cowardice of it's "faux" leaders and silent cowardice/ignorance of it general population. Apparently what they say is true Karma is a bitch. On the plus side, much of the world will breath easier with it's long over due demise.

They reasoned that since communism might grow out of control, if they had enough bombs to kill everyone one earth several times over, the world would be safe. Impressed with the doctrine, medicine would reason that given enough poisonous and carcinogenic chemo and radiation, surely they could wipe out cancer. Running with it, the government stockpiled enough bullets to kill each and every citizen, in the event domestic terrorism should take hold. Surely they were safe now….but no! Up from the earth would ooze THE GREEN LIQUID!!

    • We Not They Finally

Bottom line: Never even got to nuke the Russians. Nuked their own Americans instead.

By the way, that thing about "communism might grow out of control"? Capitalism growing out of control didn't turn out to be a much better deal either, did it?

      • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

weNotThey, looking at old newsreels of the cold war era, its SO transparent that they are hyping commie menace to justify military spending and whatever weird agenda they had. Funny because the terrorist theme is equally transparent….yet the public BUYS IT. One can only look on in silence as the noose tightens

Let's think positive here … Perhaps, Monsanto can geo-engineer some wonderful new green revolution foods with all this newly released radiation all over the place now.. Great idea huh???

If you think positively and look to grow, everything gets better and better… It works every time

It has been is proven over and over at every land fill in the world… There is so much new good stuff, folks are just tossing all the old out…

  • We Not They Finally

Well, once it's the likes of green ooze, what CAN they do? Moving it might be a TERRIBLE idea. Maybe just massively dump anything that might give some radioactive shielding. Concrete, boron, zeolite, lead?

Cancer rates skyrocketing. Nuclear effluent, nuclear meltdowns, atomic testing, downwinders…

"…nuclear tests were conducted in such an extremely environmentally negligent and careless manner that billions of people across the Earth unwittingly became exposed to first-generation and later 'residual' fallout particles that induced millions of 'excess' cancers from the 1950s to the present."

What radiation/isotopes are a green color?

Plutonium, usually bright silver, but when oxidized, can turn green.

Uranium tends to be yellow but ultraviolet light will give it a bright green color.

Radium mixed with a phosphor of zinc sulfide and silver gives off alpha particles, affecting a green glow.

Cobalt60 will change managanese ions and turn them green. Cobalt60 can also change iron atoms.

Atomic oxygen causes the green color we see in the atmosphere. In outerspace, if you see a green object, the green color comes from strong oxygen emission. The same happens if you're seeing a green color in an Aurora.

Lithium flouride can generate green radiation.

With thermal radiation, the temperature of 10,000 degrees is equivalent to a green color.

Barium is put in fireworks to give off a green color.

Nickel gives a green color when added to glass.

    Copper turns green.

Chromium can give off a green color.

    Promethium glows bright green,61.jpg

Trivia: The sun is actually a yellow-green color.

"Hanford leaking tank won't be pumped until 2019"

"The federal government predicts it will take until 2019 to remove the contents of the tank and transfer it to other double shell tanks at the nuclear facility."

I calculated what that "can of soda" amounts to, and shared it on my blog:

    To summarize:
The equivalent of radioactive Cesium-137 that could cover 4 square miles with a contamination as severe as the “Permanent Control Zone of Chernobyl” has already leaked from the interior of Hanford tank AY-102 to its annulus. Over a million becquerel of Cs-137 leaks out of the interior of the tank EVERY DAY, on average.

If the human body is exposed to enough radiation, voc's, herbi/pesticides, gmo, alcohol, meds and such, the brain will not be able to function (engaging in coherent thought) to make life worth living or understood to the unchecked/dividing cell mass.
    Beavith are we here yet?
