TV: Millions of dead sea creatures wash ashore in Hawaii — Carcasses found along miles of beach — “That should trigger some alarm” — “I don’t know what’s going on over there… I’ve never seen anything like this” (VIDEOS)

KGMB, May 4, 2017 (emphasis added): Tens of thousands of crustaceans wash ashore along miles of Mokuleia beaches — There’s an odd pink tint to the sand along Mokuleia thanks to tens of thousands tiny crustaceans that have washed ashore.  But what the creatures are and where they came from is a bit of a mystery. “I don’t know what’s going on over there. But I’ve never seen anything like this,” said resident said Elisah Rivera. “And it’s millions, it’s not thousands, it’s millions. We actually walked all the way along the way, and it went all the way, about two miles down.”… It’s unclear what they are. Some say they’re crabs, others say shrimp, some suspect lobsters. The state Department of Land and Natural Resources says they appear to be baby shrimp… Environmentalist Carroll Cox he found about a dozen dead sea cucumbers washed up on shore as well. He believes the creatures are baby crabs. ‘There are other species. I just noticed sea cucumbers found in a small area along with the crab. So that causes concern when you have more than one species impacted with an event. That should trigger some alarm,” Cox said…

KGMB transcript, May 4, 2017: “It’s a mystery in Mokuleia as millions of tiny crustaceans wash up on shore.”

KHON transcript, May 2, 2017: “Last week we told you about thousands of toads washing up on the North Shore — now thousands of dead crabs washing up to North Shore beaches.”

    Fascinating Watson

One month ago, when we first discussed that in addition to the CVN-70 Carl Vinson aircraft carrier group.

After completing its maintenance period in Yokosuka, Japan, the USS Ronald Reagan departed for the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday.

The United States is sending a third aircraft carrier strike force to the western Pacific region in an apparent warning to North Korea to deter its ballistic missile and nuclear programs, two sources have told VOA.

The USS Nimitz, the Reagan and the Carl Vinson.
Where have we seen those carries in another link Watson I posted a month ago and a bunch of douchebags said I was spreading conspiracy theories?
Let me think, let me think, let me think.

MVB…my thought is that if the radnet is being intentionally turned off during radiation peaks and then possibly re-calibrated or filled in with fake data…and they know that everyone who looks can see it…how long before they just fill the data gaps seamlessly? Lets say some threshold either trips or alerts them to turn off the monitors..because they dont want the public to know the truth….it would be too easy just to 'roll the tape' of fake data. If they really dont want anyone to know. Strange

It's a 20th century leftover, @ CodeShutdown, of an era when most fathomed transparency, and such.

They'll get there. They're obviously working on a timeline that resonates with some kind of "New Order Of OF THE AGES" (Seclorum). The saddest part of my "contributions" is that within just a few years, people like me will seize to even pose ANY kind of "threat". It helps them fine-tune the tweek'n algorithms. They know. MVB, my impression is that you present too much data for easy digestion. I would take that photo of the lightening under the schumman resonance heading, and overlay ONE radiation graph that goes flatline. This dramatizes the message. The flatline is an iconic concept. See, its graphic art, its show biz. The title…'they turn off the monitors" or better. You have one of the most convincing proofs of a wide spread collusion, a conspiracy. Few want to wade through, they want insta-message. Do you know the attention span is only one second now? One can only wonder how they pull it off. All the new kids out of college that are hired in those positions…how do they break it to them…"now listen Dave, you must turn off the monitors whenever there is an incident" What about the CTBT…it seems like their noses would sprout leaves and birds would nest. Really, it strains ones imagination as much as the world trade center thing. How is that wide spread conspiracy even possible…down to the FAA and the airliners in that case. It seems impossible, yet the evidence is as clear as a brick falling on your head. So the art….maybe mix pop art and the graphs…get some music going, make it into a mixed media video art piece…with the dead bugs and the crying earth and the flatlining and some creepy monitor goons

            • Code LOL I appreciate MVB's work better than my own, but also agree that one liners, and one charters have power.

Code – Thanks for the smiles. 😉

Though… I'm not interested in easily-digestible "data-tainment". If you can't "digest" 100+ data graphs, you won't come close to being able to withstand the actual reality of what these graphs are HIDING anyhow. It's an "acquired taste" to look beyond the data… I don't do show biz. Make your own blog and use my posts as inspiration for your show biz angle, if you really feel like that's what's needed.

BTW, The CTBTO is bound by secrecy, – very polite/cordial and such, but they're a useless bunch for non-members like the general public.

I do my thing. I know it doesn't work. ENENEws does its tabloidesque thing: gets WAY more views. SO? Doesn't really work eiter.

You want me to go tabloidesque, claim certainty when I actually don't know, make things catchy, add music, go for the dramatic effect? Those people that still require that dramatic effect, are just grooving on the scene. They're not serious, nor will they become serious.

From what I've seen, "shock therapy" just doesn't work if you're aiming for the Truth of the matter.

              Though I can appreciate your suggestions… 😉

              I guess I've just been dreaming…

              • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

MVB, I read and follow your thinking "If you can't "digest" 100+ data graphs, you won't come close to being able to withstand the actual reality of what these graphs are HIDING anyhow." But there are personality types…some are data oriented, most are not. They just want/need to know. You see it from your personality focus…like the man who holds up his book of fishing lures, hundreds of slightly different fishing lures, with the names of each one, the material, how its tied, what geographical area it is used and on and on. Some people spot airplanes. They keep an exhaustive journal of tail numbers, squad numbers, dates, location etc. If you cant "digest" my book of hundreds of squadron tail numbers, you wont come close to grasping the reality of the discipline and honor, the teamwork of military jets.

The graphs ARE artwork, the study and so on. In music, we MUST keep them short, catchy and interesting, there is no choice in the matter

          • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

MVB, I enjoyed it. Get into video production, use your paintings and graphs. Pan across the graph…"our beloved….Trust….is dead" as you hit the 'flat line' of missing data. "your government turns off radiation monitors during nuclear accidents." Briefly describe how many hours/years you studied the phenomena, show that they track your website…we are just coming up to one minute video duration now…then the girl, some dancer, find at the university…get/make good techno like that. Show the cherished life, in perfect form, dancing….then superimpose the graph and get to the flat line again and all goes dead. Keep it less than three minutes. You will have a winner

MVB, I noticed in your recent post regarding Hanford that you plan to share "…some reflections on the non-physical dimensions of radioactivity at some point.)"

@ danger kitty – Hi. – Had to search my own blog for a clue as to when "recently" I might have said that. In 2013 it turned out: @ ,I indeed wrote, "My visit was not to drool over the science and the “amazing” engineering feat that was accomplished with the Manhattan Project, though, but to feel into this darkest of the darkest of humanity’s disconnect from the heart. (I intent to share some reflections on the non-physical dimensions of radioactivity at some point.)"

Then I went to Japan in November 2013, and the "journeys" I had there on Ayahuasca (smuggled in), in Hiroshima, Nagasaki and just south of the edge of the exclusion zone north of Iwaki, FUKUSHIMA (Where I "called in" the energy of the disaster to "meet its nature"… had me so disoriented and in shock that I decided to stay clear of any talk about this angle altogether. Four years later, I'm still recovering, danger kitty. I knew the dangers in advance and I do not know how much longer I have to live. It is very rare that I get to do any kind of "hallucinogen" these days, but the few times I did, it's like I'm back at Nov. 13, 2013… Muscle spams, uncontrollable bawling, a freak'n heart-wrenching nightmare of unspeakable grief and sadness. IT IS killing me.

I look at data for "entertainment". I couldn't handle the electrifying reality. Sorry

MVB, I don't know the energy signature for Uranium, but is it possible there has been more DU weaponry testing in Hawaii, and this is why monitors were shut off? Am aware some of the RadNet monitors check for Gamma, and the Beta monitors have been non-operational for a long time.

I caught Kenny boy testing plankton, and not reporting results, somewhere at nukepro

So what is motivating these guys? Craploads of money, threats of losing grants and tenure?

      That is the real story

They have both written a lot of stuff about food chain, concentration factor, so what gives?

      • their operation is very directly tied to military associates….

      • "I caught Kenny boy testing plankton, and not reporting results"

Interesting and something I'll personally look into…

Let's face it Ken is the head and is a mouthpiece, he is not the one that actually does the testing.

Gathering samples, transporting them and the many stages of testing things as complicated (and hard to read) as foods and water for individual isotopes requires 100's of people.

If you look at the sea reads they are on point. problem seems to be noone can understand the results so sea water results are posted without worry.

Foods like kelp and plankton are a no brainer. If there is any AT ALL in it it's a problem. Easy to understand right?

Any levels could ruin a global industry. I think we should ALL be able to view and know the results. But this creates a problem, a world wide problem. So the results must be tested again and again with the same result for a no holds barred release of information.

We know in our knowers (those that have actually been studying this stuff) That certain isotopes decay and change the overall readings over time so this creates a lawyers dream for not releasing the results. They can argue to the cows come home that the results don't show the same levels and therefore can not be accurate. So the argument is since the tests are not showing the same results when repeated they must be flawed.

Simple argument for a food lawyer to block the public release of results.

        • We should support these people instead of casting doubt…

Doubt is why we can't see the results to begin with…

          • earthsmith earthsmith

Yeah just smile that radio-toxicity away. No doubt about it. It's poses no threat "they" said so. "We" just need to support that..simple ain't it.

            • "Yeah just smile that radio-toxicity away. No doubt about it. It's poses no threat "they" said so. "We" just need to support that..simple ain't it."

It would be if any of that was true.

But I think you know what I was saying.

Support those that test like woods hole!

A very complicated process (testing water and food) that you can't possibly do.

I have no personal opinion on Ken. Infact I don't even pay attention to him, I pay attention to the results of the testing at WH.

The numbers aren't a political he said she said debate.

The numbers are not subject to your opinion or what he said or what she said. They aren't up for debate or assumption nor are test results subject your need to talk bad about someone or something.

The results are the results and if we want to see more of them we need to support the testing and disclosure whole heartily.

NEVER casting doubt on the testing, only doubt on the nay sayers that make it harder still to get the actual results by reinforcing doubt in the accuracy or spouting that the most poison substances on earth are not a problem…

Cry like a spoiled brat or be a responsible adult…

the whole Woods Hole theme of 'citizen scientists' rolling up their sleeves, contributing in an important, grass roots way to the understanding of Fukushima is very disturbing. Weve been through it…but Woods Hole has millions of dollars, hundreds of people to do that work. In fact they were testing. I highly suspect this idea of getting the people involved is a ploy. Those citizens ARE NOT scientists and they arent doing anything but collecting buckets of water and sending in money. Its a 'feel good' manipulative tactic. Unless it isnt and the people who sat around and launched the program didnt have their thinking hats on

                • OK bullet theory, I like it….

So according to your testing results it was likely no one was hit? From what armchair were you testing…

Oh I guess you saw it on youtube posed by some flake that didn't even check and you know that flake was never on scene at any time and was not qualified to make ANY assessment of the situation.

                  On point code! Great one!!!

Since joe jacker said it on youtube the actual evidence shouldn't even be looked at so just pretend the whole thing is wrong, it must be some sort of conspiracy and the real evidence should be ignored huh…

Hummmmmmmmmmmm Likely doesn't work for the person that "may" have been shot in that story…

…A conscientious person would check the first hand medic reports from the scene (in this case ocean testing results) and hospitals (in this case foods) for real provable certified information.

Then the story would be real truth and would read "no one was injured" or "1 person was injured".

Not doing those things proves nothing and is a perfect excuse for some attention seeker to gripe and complain about. Oh and send em some free tax money for a year long study.

That is the same kinda made up washed out crap reporting we see when it comes to radiation all the time.

Numbers are numbers, bullshit is bullshit…

                  • CodeShutdown CodeShutdown

Sorry Hippie, my analogy was not clear. I meant to show that scientific testing is not always a reliable indicator. A statistically significant cohort may not show the damage of a single bullet fired into a crowd. That is not directly applicable to Woods Hole. But for instance, they publish water radiation, while the sediment could be a thousand times more radioactive. They should test sea foam, dead animals for hot spots, sediment, plankton. But mainly they should attempt to elucidate the difference between the radioactive effect from background radiation and man made fallout, which at this point they say is essentially the same.

'Most published scientific research papers are wrong, according to a new analysis. Assuming that the new paper is itself correct, problems with experimental and statistical methods mean that there is less than a 50% chance that the results of any randomly chosen scientific paper are true.'

There is no doubt that Woods Hole gives the public this message; the measured radioactivity is too low to be of any concern whatsoever.

Yes, we want straight facts, no matter if they support our view or not. But heres the thing; If you dont know WHY those low radiation numbers are a cause for concern, and make no mistake, you dont..then pushing Woods Hole as the go-to source for unbiased, uncontested, reliable information simply reinforces the woods hole message, which is that the radioactivity is so low, it cant possibly be a concern.

There are several aspects about the Woods Hole testing and especially the conclusions drawn that leave much to be desired. but H Dog never ever talks about it. I suppose thats because he is busy being in his happy place, saving the world for our children and doesnt have time to get into it. Hippie, what exactly is a concern about C137 at 10 bq/m3? That is a thousand times less than the radioactivity naturally found in sea water, and far, far lower than any level of concern established by science. You have done the math and your homework…so now tell us the result. What makes that very low amount of radioactivity a concern, and why cant the scientists DOING the testing see your point? Be specific, thanks

                    • Well that answers the question about all this woods hole tripe…

May want to study up on the toxicity of 137…

                      A simple example…

                      137 mimics potassium right?

                      Your potassium index:

If it is 3.5-5.0 You are in the SAFE zone

If it is 5.1-6.0 You are in the CAUTION zone

If it is higher than 6.0 You are in the DANGER zone

Now how much 137 do you need to be in the danger zone?

What makes this a even bigger threat is the fact that if you don't test specifically for 137 and/or 134 your blood willl show these substances as potassium (137 and 134 will show up as natural potassium without proper specific testing)

Study so you know what the numbers actually mean…

Potassium radiation has nothing on the chemically active toxic effects of 137 and is even WAY (30 plus times) worse with 134

"C137 at 10 bq/m3? That is a thousand times less than the radioactivity naturally found in sea water"

Ya just can't compare eating a apple to eating a apple turd….

Hippie, I doubt you sincerely want to know…but I can tell you in ballpark terms. Im not going to dig up links right now.

The ICRP dose model says that Cesium137 and K-40, the radioactive isotope in potassium are nearly equal in toxicity. That means that scientists believe that if you increase the radioactivity of the ocean from its natural state of around 12,000 bq/m3 to 24000 bq/m3 by adding cesium137 its only a little more than twice as toxic, and they dont believe the ocean is naturally very poisonous.

So when Woods Hole finds 10 bq/m3, its one thousand times less dangerous, in his mind, than the natural radioactivity of the ocean. Who believes this? Science at large, students, interested lay persons reading up on it.

The question is…are they right? The proliferation of exclusion zones, cancer, deformities and an ocean which is alarmingly collapsing suggests they arent right. Make no mistake; they are right about the measurement of radioactivity, but wrong about its toxicity and wrong about background radiation toxicity to which they compare it. Thats your answer, and its a good one. Now are you going to digest it or are you going to keep calling me a fool who shouldnt be listened to (paraphrase but accurate)

"Is radiation a concern along U.S. and Canadian coasts?
Although we have found traces of radioactive contamination from Fukushima in samples collected through our citizen-science initiative Our Radioactive Ocean, the concentration of cesium-137 and -134 in these samples is well below levels of concern for humans or marine life. The highest levels of cesium (10 Bq/m3) attributable to Fukushima that we have measured were found 1,500 miles north of Hawaii. Swimming every day in the ocean there would still result in a dose 1,000 time smaller than the radiation we receive with a single dental x-ray."

Yeah sure, put your trust in the most fucked up, scandalous, sneaky, snaky parasitic organisms that ever lived,= human race. That is really reassuring considering how any (supposedly) lesser forms of life that isn't born with a voice to cry out against (and tell lies with), or hands and fingers to hold up in protest (or pull the trigger, count dirty blood money and stab one another in the back with)don't count and can expect to be washing ashore contaminated beaches by the millions as dead carcasses that even the lowly scavenger critters know enough to avoid dining from the inedible seafood smorgasbord on the beach. A real warm sense of pride washes over me with each shining example of mankind's achievements and contributions towards a better world for Earthly life to flourish in(not)… And then for the Bible thumpers to state unequivocally that Man is created in the image of God really says it all re; those deluded enough to believe they are"special",or"chosen 1's" and protected or immune to the toxic bile that spews forth the dirty money that presides over all else!! I don't have the time or inclination to get back on the soapbox I used to cling to in the hope that I would find anything to lighten the load and guilt for things that some call human nature, but it stands to reason aside from the sentence I used the words in, "human" and "nature" are the same as good & evil and wtf is "good" about humanity except guaranteed self-annihilation.Go M.A.D.Trumpy!

        • Actually sampling and testing can be done by just 1 or 2 people, but having a small army would sure help the "cause".

          • Alright…

Now don't get mad, this is just something to make you think and realize the efforts involved with our current testing…

Splain how you are going to do this with 2 people…

            Day 1…

I need you to find me one or two people to go to the pacific take water samples from Alaska to Hawaii and also gather samples of fish, plankton, reefs, shellfish, crabs, shrimp and kelp then bring them back to the lab quickly…

You have 2 days to get them here so I guess you'll need a jet.

Nevermind too heavy to fly all that stuff in a private jet so take airforce one on loan. Hope you or your assistant can fly it…

But wait you'll need the fastest boat ever invented too.

            Day 2…

Now that you are back in your 30+ million dollar lab you and your helper will need to process the samples. Some samples have more than 20 stages of preparation so better get the coffee pot going because you only have 72 hours before the samples are void of some of the original isotopes. These are the ones that will tell us just how bad it really is and without them you won't find anything we don't already have reads for (and future calculations made).

Not possible on any level for 2 people to do that job.

There are literally 1000's of people working on this problem every day.

They deserve our support and respect.

kenny is well qualified to recognize a radioisotope when he finds one but his expertise stops there and any other opinions and conclusions can be discounted. He has no official medical training so how he concludes health effects of radiation exposure is suspect.

Experts at some point begin relying on documented work of others to support their own work and conclusions as a field of work becomes to broad and complex. See which studies he relies upon outside his scope of work. Could be accepted mainstream papers or obscure little known works.

The Chernobyl papers establish more than enough cause and effect from fallout, certainly radiocesiums effects on children. And recent worldwide rising background radiation levels are not to be denied. Manmade radioactive elements are certainly not abating.

Even though fallout percentages of newly created radionuclides from nuke bomb testing can be extrapolated, from fuel rod accidents no so much. It's always some mystery. Figure buildup from burn up yes, how much releases and how far, it is a guessing game.

If USS Reagan sailors' trial ever goes forward, Navy's fallout recordings will make kenny look like an idiot.

All modern wars are NUCLEAR wars

                      — As the Bush administration prepares to make war on the Iraqi
people — for it is the civilian population of that country and not Saddam
Hussein who will bear the brunt of the hostilities — it is important that
we recall the medical consequences of the last Persian Gulf war. It was, in
                      effect, a nuclear war.

By the end of that 1991 conflict, the United States
left between 300 and 800 tons of depleted uranium 238 in anti-tank shells
and other explosives on the battlefields of Iraq, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.
The term "depleted" refers to the removal of the fissionable element uranium
235 through a process that ironically is called "enrichment." What remains,
uranium 238, is 1.7 times more dense than lead. When incorporated into an
anti-tank shell and fired, it achieves great momentum, cutting through tank
armor like a hot knife through butter.

                      What other properties does uranium
238 possess? First, it is pyrophoric. When it hits a tank at high speed, it
bursts into flames, producing aerosolized particles less than 5 microns in
diameter, making them easy to inhale into the terminal air passages of the
lung. Second, it is a potent radioactive carcinogen, emitting a relatively
heavy alpha particle composed of two protons and two neutrons. Once inside
the body — either in the lung if it has been inhaled, in a wound if it
penetrates flesh, or ingested since it concentrates in the food chain and
                      contaminates water– it…

can produce cancer in the lungs, bones, blood or

in which this ammunition was used in Iraq and Kuwait will remain effectively
radioactive for the rest of time. Children are 10 to 20 times more sensitive
to then effects of radiation than adults.

                  Hippie, just so you know, that last piece of yours reads like a shill piece. Let me explain;

                  HD; "Absolutely Jeb…

People are so afraid of this stuff they don't even want to think about it…

Who's tossing a ball through a hoop today? Got that covered"

To me that suggests that people dont want to think about the true quantities of fallout, whether low or high, simply because they have an over-riding fear of radiation. You follow with an ambiguous thing with the ball and hoop thing. Does it mean you are the one that can score true points by shooting the ball through the hoop?

HD:"How much radiation is in the pacific right now?

                  They have no clue…

…and won't until a family member get's sick, if even then.

All we can do is take precautionary steps."

This suggests that people in general, 'they have no clue' dont know how much radioactivity is in the water. You point them again and again to W.H. which says almost no radioactivity from Fukushima. Then you end with the only solution, precautionary steps. What does that mean? Like taking the precaution to kick out all the bastards who let the killer nuke industry survive…or what? It does not sound like it, you sound like public vanilla

Where have all the insects gone? – May. 10, 2017

Entomologists call it the windshield phenomenon. "If you talk to people, they have a gut feeling. They remember how insects used to smash on your windscreen," says Wolfgang Wägele, director of the Leibniz Institute for Animal Biodiversity in Bonn, Germany. Today, drivers spend less time scraping and scrubbing. "I'm a very data-driven person," says Scott Black, executive director of the Xerces Society for Invertebrate Conservation in Portland, Oregon. "But it is a visceral reaction when you realize you don't see that mess (mass) anymore."

    • Jebus Jebus

Of the scant records that do exist, many come from amateur naturalists, whether butterfly collectors or bird watchers. Now, a new set of long-term data is coming to light, this time from a dedicated group of mostly amateur entomologists who have tracked insect abundance at more than 100 nature reserves in western Europe since the 1980s.

Over that time the group, the Krefeld Entomological Society, has seen the yearly insect catches fluctuate, as expected. But in 2013 they spotted something alarming. When they returned to one of their earliest trapping sites from 1989, the total mass of their catch had fallen by nearly 80%. Perhaps it was a particularly bad year, they thought, so they set up the traps again in 2014. The numbers were just as low. Through more direct comparisons, the group—which had preserved thousands of samples over 3 decades—found dramatic declines across more than a dozen other sites.

Yes Jebus, insects(and birds). I've posted before that in the years 2013 and 2014 we had zero insects and zero birds, my location here in Southern California. Fallout distribution is NOT homogeneous; I must be living in a hot spot. Recovery at this point is only 20% in terms of numbers of species and numbers of each individual species.

"Japan’s government should stay out of U.S. sailors’ lawsuit against Tepco"

"[…] U.S. service personnel find themselves prevented from seeking justice because Tepco, with the support of the Japanese government, is doing its utmost to ensure the case will never be heard in an American court."

"if a U.S. court were to ascribe the plaintiffs’ illnesses to radiation exposure, how could the Japanese government continue to claim that none of the many illnesses the children and adults of Fukushima presently experience are radiation-related?"

"the Japanese government continues to deny compensation, for radiation-induced illnesses let alone deaths, to its own citizens. This would surely impact the “viability” (not to mention reputation) of the Japanese government in its ongoing denial of radiation-related injuries to non-Tepco employees."

"[…] if the Japanese government has a conscience, please immediately provide medical aid and compensation to the hundreds of American victims of Operation Tomodachi."

      • unincredulous unincredulous

What can we do to influence the US courts to expedite justice for our troops, and reject the request of the Japanese government to provide pressure on the court???

The Japanese government still wants the US to clean up Japanese property polluted by the USA military

"Environmental accident handbooks from 2013 and 2015 reveal USMC staff are under orders not to inform Japanese officials of “nonemergency and/or politically sensitive incidents.”"

So, if the US sailors can sue the Japanese government, then Japanese people can sue the US government.

And if the Japanese government did not tell the US government of the politically sensitive meltdown of three nuclear meltdowns, they would actually be doing the same thing our government does.

The sailors are prohibited from suing the Japanese government, but can only sue Tepco.

But now the Tepco is owned by the Japanese government right?

So the government has a big stake in block justice for the sailors.

Like Trump said he was going to build a wall, can we afford to build a wall when we still owe the Japanese for Okinawa? Maybe he can get Mexico to pay for it…

The surgeon who witnessed this bizarre behavior decided to present the information despite being easy to identify.

Nuclear nightmare worse than Fukushima could hit US because of ignored risks – study
    27 May, 2017

    © Jonathan Ernst / Reuters

The US has underestimated the risks to its nuclear safety as a single nuclear fuel fire could lead to fallout “much greater than Fukushima,” according to a new study. Researches slammed the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for ignoring the potential danger.

If spent fuel at one of the dozens of US nuclear sites sets alight, it “could dwarf the horrific consequences of the Fukushima accident [in Japan],” researchers from Princeton University and the Union of Concerned Scientists warned in their study published in the May 26 issue of Science magazine.

The disaster would lead to “trillion-dollar consequences,” as the hypothetical fire would result in contamination of an area larger than New Jersey and force mass relocations. …

    • rogerthat

The scientists simulated a nightmare scenario in their ‘Nuclear safety regulation in the post-Fukushima era’ article.

Supposing that an imagined fuel fire broke out at the Peach Bottom nuclear power plant in Pennsylvania at the beginning of 2015, and taking into account the weather conditions at that time, they showed the devastating extent of potential contamination in the area.

The accident would have led to the relocation of around 8 million people and would have cost $2 trillion in damages, according to Science Daily, citing the article.

At first, it would mostly have affected a small part of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, also touching on New York, Massachusetts and Connecticut.

However, within three months almost all the East Coast from South Carolina to Maine would have become contaminated to a varying extent, the scientists said, with radiation going deeper into the land later on. …

Crisis without End: The Medical and Ecological Consequences of the Fukushima Nuclear Catastrophe

Review: Crisis without End: The Medical and Ecological Consequences of the Fukushima Nuclear Catastrophe, Helen Caldicott et al. 4.0 out of 5 stars Vital Detailed Truth, Lacks Compelling Visualization, July 9, 2015

This review was written by Robert David Steele and has been reposted with permission. The original page can be found here. This book stems from a conference and is a very nicely presented double-spaced precis of the world-class contributions from the conference.

HELEN CALDICOTT QUOTE (3): The Fukushima disaster is not over and will not end for many millenia. The radioactive fallout, which has covered vast swaths of Japan, will remain toxic for hundreds of thousands of years.”

NAOTO KAN QUOTE (19): Considering the risk of losing half our land and evacuating half our population, my conclusion is that not having nuclear power plants is the safest energy policy.

DAVID LOCHBAUM: Fukushima was result of multiple foreseen but dismissed hazards. The cost of the recommended safety measures would have been a tiny fraction of the final cost of the total disaster that will be adding costs for a century into the future. …

    • rogerthat

HISAKO SAKIYAMA: Virtually all hospitals included in today’s nuclear reaction plans are themselves so close as to be rendered victims themselves in the event of any real nuclear disaster.

STEVEN STARR: 13% of the Japanese mainland has been contaminated with cesium-137 while the Pacific Ocean and its seafood have been widely contaminated.

AKIO MATSUMURA: Fukushima could explode again and double-down on threat to humanity. Meanwhile, US stands silent, Japanese government is covering everything up, and no reporters, scientists, or other governments are demanding any form of transparency.

TIMOTHY MOUSSEAU: Roughly a third of wildlife disappears from radiated areas — but the studies are not being done or if done not published because no government, no university, no foundtion, wants to pay for bad news.

ALEXEY YABLOKOV: WHO, IAEA, ICRC have falsified just about everything about Fukushima specifically and nuclear risks generally.

ARNOLD GUNDERSEN: Fukushima was made in USA, with GE knowingly repressing risk information, cutting corners, and failing to provide all of the safety features known to be needed (including provision for a 46 foot tsunami correctly forecast).

ROBERT ALVAREZ: Because US has dithered on a “permanent” nuclear waste solution, the “temporary” pools are now holding five times their planned capacity. A standard US nuclear storage pool fire would be sixty times worse than Chernobyl.

KEVIN CAMPS: CIA helped fund the post-war politicians in…

      • rogerthat

Japan, and part of CIA’s mandate was to ensure they all bought into nuclear power.

CINDY FOLKERS: US manipulating radiation standards in post-Fukishima era to allow twelve times more radiation poisoning of children than now allowed in Japan, and to explicitly cover-up the radiation in agricultural and seafood products that would otherwise sharply constrain those markets.

DAVID FREEMAN: Risks aside, nuclear power is unaffordable. QUOTE (217): Even with the latest improvements, the cost overrun is abvout one or two billion dollars.” Nuclear power is now an “existential threat” but the public is completely ignorant of the fact that they have 30 years of nuclear waste piled up in their backyard waiting to be set on fire.

HELEN CALDICOTT: Absent public education, we appear bent on self-destruction.

The book could have been improved with a bibliography and some visualization, but I certainly found it very informative and troubling. In combination, public ignorance, government and corporation corruption, and complacency among academics, media, and think tanks, have allowed the creation of an aging nuclear industry certain to explode in our face again.

Someone unfamiliar with this site and perusing the comments following the current info and headlines, and also someone who was trying to better understand specific or general aspects of Fukushima, nuclear energy, etc., would imo find some things of interest/value, but much a waste of time.

Someone with limited time/opportunity, would imo not make this site a priority, and perhaps ignore it completely. Too much swamp, not enough firm ground.

As has been noted in the past, this is an intelligence agency related site, since some specific subjects are censored or moderated. So to ask for disinterested integrity in moderating this site is a contradiction in terms. Nevertheless, ideally there would be hard-nosed competent winnowing out of comments that are self indulgent, trollish, fluff, etc, so that new readers around the world would encounter an excellent and more succinct contributuion re the situation we find ourselves in re nuclear technology and related issues. Difficult to achieve…

As someone who visits here fairly often, I get a serious case of deja vue, with same wheels spinning in the mud.

I think a few important background bits of info are of value to all newcomers pondering the subject:

Nuclear energy is a military related tech. from the start, with massive ongoing duplicity and censorship woven into the subject.

Massive subsidy, plus legislated escape from normal liability insurance, has been essential to implementing nuclear as electricity…

It has only been six years and the counts are adding/stacking up.

How long is an xray, anyways?

It does get rough once you realize what is happening.

Millions(?) of overburdened creatures dying en masse all of a sudden out of an ecosystem, is not for the faint of heart.

This site's comments are not the issue. Neither are wordpress's many glitches or the frequent denial of service attacks.

It becomes very clear when one realizes that the only thing being forced upon anyone/everyone/everything, is nuclear waste…

Approval ratings in the 30s show that Trump is already rejected by the voters.

The voters did not vote for nuclear war or the enrichment of arms companies. The voters didn't vote for Jeb Bush or the Neocons, yet the Neocons are in huge numbers in Trump's Administration. This is not draining the swamp but entrenching the Neocons which were rejected.

Hacking and the 2016 Presidential Election

“Was the 2016 presidential election hacked? It's hard to tell. There were no obvious hacks on Election Day, but new reports have raised the question of whether voting machines were tampered with in three states that Donald Trump won this month: Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania.

“The researchers behind these reports include voting rights lawyer John Bonifaz and J. Alex Halderman, the director of the University of Michigan Center for Computer Security and Society, both respected in the community. They have been talking with Hillary Clinton's campaign, but their analysis is not yet public.

“According to a report in New York magazine, the share of votes received by Clinton was significantly lower in precincts that used a particular type of voting machine: The magazine story suggested that Clinton had received 7 percent fewer votes in Wisconsin counties that used electronic machines, which could be hacked, than in counties that used paper ballots. That is exactly the sort of result we would expect to see if there had been some sort of voting machine hack. There are many different types of voting machines, and attacks against one type would not work against the others.

          • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar

So a voting anomaly correlated to machine type could be a red flag, although Trump did better across the entire Midwest than pre-election polls expected, and there are also some correlations between voting machine type and the demographics of the various precincts. Even Halderman wrote early Wednesday morning that 'the most likely explanation is that the polls were systematically wrong, rather than that the election was hacked.'

“What the allegations, and the ripples they're causing on social media, really show is how fundamentally untrustworthy our hodgepodge election system is.

“Accountability is a major problem for US elections. The candidates are the ones required to petition for recounts, and we throw the matter into the courts when we can't figure it out. This all happens after an election, and because the battle lines have already been drawn, the process is intensely political. Unlike many other countries, we don't have an independent body empowered to investigate these matters. There is no government agency empowered to verify these researchers' claims, even if it would be merely to reassure voters that the election count was accurate.

“Instead, we have a patchwork of voting systems: different rules, different machines, different standards.

            • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar

I've seen arguments that there is security in this setup ¬ an attacker can't broadly attack the entire country ¬ but the downsides of this system are much more critical. National standards would significantly improve our voting process.

“Further investigation of the claims raised by the researchers would help settle this particular question. Unfortunately, time is of the essence ¬ underscoring another problem with how we conduct elections. For anything to happen, Clinton has to call for a recount and investigation. She has until Friday to do it in Wisconsin, until Monday in Pennsylvania and until next Wednesday in Michigan. I don't expect the research team to have any better data before then. Without changes to the system, we're telling future hackers that they can be successful as long as they're able to hide their attacks for a few weeks until after the recount deadlines pass.
“Computer forensics investigations are not easy, and they're not quick. They require access to the machines. They involve analysis of Internet traffic. If we suspect a foreign country like Russia, the National Security Agency will analyze what they've intercepted from that country. This could easily take weeks, perhaps even months. And in the end, we might not even get a definitive answer. And even if we do end up with evidence that the voting machines were hacked, we don't have rules about what to do next.

              • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar

“Although winning those three states would flip the election, I predict Clinton will do nothing (her campaign, after all, has reportedly been aware of the researchers' work for nearly a week). Not because she does not believe the researchers ¬- although she might not -¬ but because she doesn't want to throw the post-election process into turmoil by starting a highly politicized process whose eventual outcome will have little to do with computer forensics and a lot to do with which party has more power in the three states.

“But we only have two years until the next national elections, and it's time to start fixing things if we don't want to be wondering the same things about hackers in 2018. The risks are real: Electronic voting machines that don't use a paper ballot are vulnerable to hacking.

“Clinton supporters are seizing on this story as their last lifeline of hope. I sympathize with them. When I wrote about vote-hacking the day after the election, I said: "Elections serve two purposes. First, and most obvious, they are how we choose a winner. But second, and equally important, they convince the loser ¬- and all the supporters ¬- that he or she lost." If the election system fails to do the second, we risk undermining the legitimacy of our democratic process. Clinton's supporters deserve to know whether this apparent statistical anomaly is the result of a hack against our election system or a spurious correlation.

                • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar

They deserve an election that is demonstrably fair and accurate. Our patchwork, ad hoc system means they may never feel confident in the outcome. And that will further erode the trust we have in our election systems.”

Data lady, DATA, not just repeating a false narrative.

Clinton need all 3 states to swing, and they got Stein to make the requests. Barely. Pretending that a tight timeline to make the requests somehow also "threw the results" is also VERY disingenuous. Its worse, its shameful.

There have also been stories of Republicans registering people who don't exist and then voting for the nonexistent voters. Also stories of Republicans denying the vote to qualified voters.

                    • Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar Dr. Anne Lee Tomlinson Maziar

There are also Republicans who vote in more than one state. Many on Trump's team including his family are registered in more than one state.

                    • Marc Elias, the Clinton campaign counsel, said the campaign had not planned to seek a recount, since its own investigation had failed to turn up any sign of hacking of voting systems.

                    • During the election, there were hundreds of reports and p photos of people voting for Trump and having their vote switched to Clinton. A simple search on a non-Google search engine will clearly show that. there was not one case of a Hillary voter complaining that the machine didn't record their vote and switch dot Trump.

the weaknesses in this have been discussed since 2004. Black Box Voting.

In Detroit, a city that HRC won, they had to stop the recount because they found 60% of the vote to be fraudulent. MIT and Stanford said the only way HRC beat Sanders in California was through fraud.

Then there was the Florida fraud fiasco, the a temp worker walked into a storeroom of ballots being filled in by two women, all for HRC. Search for Clinton vote fraud 2016 and see what comes up.

Seth Rich knew the DNC rigged the vote. Why doesn't the DNC care that a Young Democrat was murdered> Why wouldn't they offer a reward? Why did Wikileaks offer a reward?

Donald Trump won because he wasn't Hillary Clinton. The Wikileaks show that her ow campaign knew that she was DOA and the Wikileaks also show how they rigged the polls.

They couldn't let Bernie in because he would never ago to war. Trump got in because he said he wouldn't. He lied, but with HRC, nuclear war was inevitable.

Gaddafi. She laughed about killing someone who was more progressive than anyone in the DNC. Bombed an underground river that provided freshwater to Africa. Keep…

Good do know the secretary of state has no influence whatsoever.

                    • HRC designed the Libya strategy. Read the Wikileaks. She demanded full credit for Libya, including her infamous lie where she (and then Obama) blamed the riot on a YouTube video. We know this was false. They were hiding the fact that the US supplied stinger missiles to Al Qaeda via Turkey funded by Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

Again, read Wiki. Look at the videos. It was her strategy.

She was a Secretary of State who FAILED at diplomacy at EVERY level, so why would anyone consider her failures in the Obama administration something worthy enough to get her elected President?

Look at the status of her foundation, a collection of shakedowns, including $50 million from Qatar and Saudi Arabia, where women have no rights.

Hillary also said on two occasions that she would attack Iran so she cold unleash the full power of the US military on them, meaning nuclear weapons.

HRC is a useless lawyer who couldn't pas the bar in DC. She got fired from Watergate for lying. She has zero accomplishments. Zero, unless you include being a board member for Walmart or ensuring the private prison industry keeps getting plenty of new inmates.

Can you cite an example of why the world is a better place because of that woman? Because I can cite a thousand as to why it is worse with her existence on this planet.

Oh, and look up Haiti child trafficking Clinton foundation. You will also note yet another journalist died trying to investigate those links.

Have you taken the time to do anything more than compete with the drunk troll for face time on this site?

        • PT are you seriously trying to pretend that because there were extra ballots cast in Detroit, that this somehow leads credence to your delusion that admitted vote fraud would have somehow helped Trump? In Detroit, black, poor, plenty of government assistance, thats the calling card of the Dems.

      • PT, thanks for reminding me of another reason to hate two faced Stein, as she allowed herself to be used as a tool to pretend the recount effort was coming from her, and not from Hillary Establishment.

Fukushima prognosis and how radioactivity affects the body: Medical facts from Dr. Helen Caldicott
    May 30 2017

"The Japanese government was so concerned that they were considering plans to evacuate 35 million people from Tokyo, as other reactors including Fukushima Daiini on the east coast were also at risk. Thousands of people fleeing from the smoldering reactors were not notified where the radioactive plumes were travelling, despite the fact that there was a system in place to track the plumes. As a result, people fled directly into regions with the highest radiation concentrations, where they were exposed to high levels of whole-body external gamma radiation being emitted by the radioactive elements, inhaling radioactive air and swallowing radioactive elements. [2] Unfortunately, inert potassium iodide was not supplied, which would have blocked…"
