WAFB, March 17, 2013: Sinkhole burps, swallows more land [...] Nearly an acre of land fell off into the west side of the sinkhole, according to Assumption OEP director John Boudreaux. Boudreaux also said more debris and hydrocarbon appeared at the surface. [...] Crews will shut down part of Highway 70 (between Highway 69 and Lee Drive) in 15-minute increments beginning at 9 p.m. Sunday for 3D seismic scanning. [...]

Assumption Parish Police Jury, March 17, 2013: The Office of Conservation is advising the public that a large “burp” event was recorded at the sinkhole shortly after 3 a.m on the morning of Sunday, March 17, related to the recent period of elevated deep seismic activity around the failed Oxy 3 cavern and the sinkhole. As has happened in past events, such as the period of elevated seismic activity that preceded the Jan. 19 “burp” event, the recent period of elevated activity was observed for several days prior to a sinkhole event. Though the deep subsurface activity appears to have calmed significantly, Conservation’s contracted experts continue to note shallower seismic activity likely related to slumping of the sinkhole sides and water movement in the sinkhole and immediately below it. [...]

I think they need to increase the night lighting and some kind of noise maker system to scare off any wildlife that may want to approach the sinkhole unknowingly between sunset and sunrise. Wonder how many gators have slipped into that muckhole , wishing they had not? Mabey that will motivate the rest of the residents to get a move on. That is a toxic dead zone. Uninhabitable. Unsafe. No one should be living there. Sad, such a beautiful place before the irresponsible cavern too close to the weaker edge of the saltdome was created. Ticking timehole waiting to open up and unleash the FUKUCORNE monster that destroyed a town. Hope the folks of Bayou COrne get way more than their homes and land are worth. They have lost something that money just can't buy. Their homestead. Their identities. Their friends. Their memories. Their sanity. Anguish and suffering should tenfold their payouts at a minimum. Best of luck Bayou Corne. Hope you find another bayou home to replace the one stolen from you.

Why just a picture. Obviously the picture was taken from a helicopter. What do they not want us to see? Why no video? Are the bayous showing sheens? Would someone that knows the wings of care folks ask them to please look at the bayous closest to the sinkhole and where it enters lake verret for sheens? Thank you.

ATTN ADMIN – This is HUGE news regarding the Louisiana Sinkhole in Bayou Corne. Please write an article with the fact that much more radioactive NORM and TENORM discovered via documentation by FREEDOM ROX is stored in many of the salt caverns in Bayou Corne. This new information needs to be read by all interested parties. DNQ, DNR, Texas Brine have ALL LIED consistantly to the public and to the residents regarding the contents of the failing cavern, caverns. Responsible parties need to be in JAIL. This calls for advanced radiation testing and the Federal Government to get involved. The state can no longer be trusted to handle this. Where is the FBI? More than just Bayou Corne is at risk with this newly discovered information. For months these radioactive contents have leaked into the bayous, Lake Verret, Ponchatrain Bay and into the Gulf prior to the sinkhole berm being installed – which is questionable at this point to be enough protection with these new discoveries by Freedom Rox. The sinkhole now needs to be drained and disposed of by radioactive hazmat teams. The TB workers are at risk of exposure as well.

Great work FDRX! I sent a note and the link to your report, to Erin Brockovich and Stuart H. Smith.

'See where the slough- in occurred here'…opened link from above.
See the red dots..indicate slough-in..the west and a portion to the east.
    Wowsers..

Wish they would hurry up and get the 3D imagining done. I would at least like to see the outlined location of the salt dome roughly drawn in on the surface to see the relationship to the sinkhole and where it might be headed next i.e. Any more potential cave ins and sloughing areas.

Somehow another pic popped up on my screen showing more area and parts of the new berms put in. A long way to go before those are threatened yet.

When does thunder and lightning storm season start there?

Morning..and no one is on here ..telling me I don't know what I'm talking about..ODD..LOL.
I'm going to say this again.
A 'disturbed area' is natural around a sinkhole. And is generally found around the circumference..of the dome. This provides a path of least resistance for the gas/oil to find it's way out.
    Oh..it's moving SE..
This burb..caused slumping to the west..it will affect the north ..in due time.
Hypothesis..is still legal in the world of science..I'd say sooner that later.

PS..By diagram..sorry no link at the moment..the sinkhole is adjacent to the salt dome.
So there is the salt dome collapsing… and there is also the issue of 'substances' from the other geological layers making it's way to the surface through the 'disturbed area'.
    Two different and related concerns.
They had the wrong idea about the shape of the dome..they evidently have little understanding of the 'disturbed area'.

OT..Horseback riding this morning..a view of the world from the high country.
Probably contemplate..things like freedom and liberty…to the soft clicking of hoof beat.

This was a biggie. Would not be surprised to hear of another acre or two slough in from this. Showed up on many of the helicorders.
