"What do we tell the younger generation about what happened to our ocean?"

We tell them this used to be my playground…

Then we teach them what happened and who is responsible.

Then we get back to teaching them Natures Way…

Certain doctors in the Belarus/Chernobyl region who treat cancers have found two things.
    1. there are many more cancers than pre event
    2. the malignancy , growth rates and invasiveness of the cancers has also significantly increased.

This point 2 means the ability of the disease to kill a person has increased.
It is not merely about counting tumours which is what most studies do.
Probably no study has demonstrated the mechanisms in biochemistry, whereby the degree of malignancy of cancers increases by radiation exposure in Belarus and Chernobyl region.
    We know so little……….

It's becoming an international matter? Too late.

Tokyo pledges hard push into 2020 Games bid final

"Alarming headlines about highly contaminated water leaking out of a storage tank at the nuclear plant, which was crippled by the deadly tsunami in 2011, have come at a bad time for Tokyo's bid, but Inose insisted it would have no effect on the Olympic vote."

But if you stop and think, really think, about basic human rights, clean air, clean water, and protecting future generations basic human rights, all is not well in Tokyo.

Even though this next article is about the 2014 games, it still applies…

Olympics hosts must have clean rights record

Japan should not be allowed to host a flea, let alone an olympic event…

I'm 65 years old, and sadly must agree with you. It's beginning to look as though the bought and paid for governments of the developed world did finally win their war of obfuscation and hidden agendas after all.
Is it finally and truly too late? I truly hope not for the sake of the young generation but I'm also having many doubts about our ability to turn this around!

You tell your children in Japan you have murdered your country men, mother's children, all for listening to dishonest people. Japan your culture is to only save your leader, and the rest can die by suicide.

The reactors in Fukushima are Mark 1, made in the USA manufactured by General Electric. When the accident happened GE sent 100 lawyers to Japan instead of 100 technicians.

This is really poignant, thank you. I've copied it.

These days I'm so grateful for all the personal work I did in advance of (2012)- Every day counted for something, even if it was just feeding noisy baby cardinals or taking in a stray cat- who of course, had kittens. Life goes on. Love goes on. It was all worth it, however this goes.

I would think it would be the younger generation asking, why did you do nothing to prevent this, you knew what you were playing with and you always told us, not to play with what you don't understand, how come you did not follow your own rules?.
It is not a international effort that is required to fix this accident, it is inter-galactic help we need, as it is out of mankinds hands now.

  • TheBigPicture TheBigPicture

The problem is nuclear. Europe's soil got contaminated from Chernobyl, and Fukushima is wrecking the oceans.

    • newsblackoutUSA newsblackoutUSA

Tbp, I agree; the problem is that science evolved beyond our ability to understand the consequences.

  • "Experts fear that underground water sources and local life forms may be affected."
    – from article

I find it odd that only 'local' life forms 'may be' affected.

😉 Seems like they neglected to mention that many birds and fish migrate long distances.

In describing what has occurred to future generations I would say…

''The stupidity of the power hungry few outweighed the logic of the many by using secrecy, lies and trickery to perpetrate an insidious global risk just to boil water. (and make bombs) It was an experiment in MIND/media CONTROL as much as it was anything else.''

  • ftlt

Sorry to add… The word "if" when speaking of future generations and the thread posed by FUFU..

Why… Without addressing the risked of other FUFUs and the other horrible consequences of our current type abuses we are perpetrating on our planet and the risk of global war, I find it quite ignorantly shortsighted and arrogant to assume we will not have much much bigger health concerns and issues for our next generations other than little old FUFU..

How bad would it have been if a plant melted down near a major river like the Mississippi river. The concentration of radiation would be high because of damming up the flow of water.
They should put Russia in charge of 3/11 as they seem to do what it takes to get some kind of control no mater what the human cost to do it, for humanity. They seem to be out of the political arena, will tell it like it is. Any other group will be controlled by others.

  • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

Richard, having a Nuclear Power Plant melt down on the Mississippi River appears now only to be a couple days/weeks/months away and it will happen soon.

    No doubt about it!

Look what has already happened and how many Nuclear melt downs have occurred only in the past 60 years!

Shut them all down and do this immediately!

Disturbing thyroid cancer rise in Fukushima minors
    August 21, 2013 Russia Today
90 percent of those who are exposed to hazardous level of radiation don`t meet criteria for cancer screening provided by Tokyo Electric Power Company.
Six minors in Fukushima Prefecture who are 18 or younger have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Ten other children are believed to have developed the same form of cancer.
The latest figures bring the number of children who have been diagnosed with having cancer to 44, up from 28 as of June. Of the 44, 18 have been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and 25 others are showing symptom. Another child suspected of having cancer is later diagnosed with benign tumor.
The 2005 Japanese rate for thyroid cancer in the age 0-18 is given as 0.0 per 100,000.
There can be 200,000 cancers in 10 million of population in the 200km radius of the site in the next 10 years, and 400,000 over 50 years.
