1.3 Sv/h at reactor 3, Fukushima Diary, Nov. 16, 2011:
At the press conference of Tepco, 11/16/2011, Tepco published the video when a robot cleaned a rail in reactor 3.
A helmet is in the sight sometimes. Tepco used a robot because the radiation level is too high in reactor 3, but the video was taken by a human worker. [...]
At first, the radiation level is “only” 700 mSv/h, but it jumps up to 1,300 mSv/h.
The video was taken in 11/14/2011 (JST). [...]

Robots cost a lot of money, people are cheap.

Sometimes you can even see the dots in the camera (due to compression moist are filtered out I guess). With 1.32 Sv/h the work is dead in 4 hours with 50% chance to survive the first week. Don’t know how long he stayed there and what it means for him.

I do not see a helmet in the radiation zone. These robots are remotely operated. A worker films the screen of the robots remote operation panel.
There is no problem with that.

That sounds much better and explains the shaky video overlayed ! Good for the worker Thanks !!

Possibly. But the odds against us are 99.7 to 1.

I think I’m the only person here who can’t spot the worker!! Please help me – at what time of the whole video can I see him?
Report Comment
I think they mean the guy who operates the remote operating panel of the bot. The article is a complete misunderstanding of the video, I think.
Report Comment
you dont see the worker just the top of the geiger thought he might be holding it at the bottom?
Report Comment
not much on the net about the press conference as there was more tepco representatives than journalists ? go figure? all i could find was mention of seeing a helmet sometimes??

Just look at the before and after TEPCO photos of the area the “robots” cleaned in the reactor area shown in the video. Its remarkably clean for a remote operated vehicle..swept free of debris. Can a robot clear an area perfectly in the time frame given? Only TEPCO knows-

Ok, thanks, so no worker there…phew!
Instead, skyrocketing penumonia cases (again):

I wonder how the young Japanese Princess is faring with pneumonia in the hospital?
It is sad that both she and her grandfather, the Emperor of Japan, have been admitted to hospitals for respiratory diseases lately!….
They do say that children, especially girls, and the elderly with pre-existing conditions, are most vulnerable to the adverse effects of radiation. Apparently, the Crown Prince, a young, healthy adult man, has not yet succumbed to any illness. But, his wife has not been feeling well…

Really sad!
How much can Japan take?

Hi alasanon, yes, I wonder as well. I think the Japanese love their emperor – it would just be too much for some if he died in this horrid year…let’s hope he and the princess gett better soon.

OK
I think I have figured out the confusion here.
Early on in the video at around 18 to 20 in to it there is
some movement that looks like a glove moving in the lower left
of the screen.
It is actually the robot track tread within camera view that is moving.
It shows up better later on in the video.
The reading actually peaks to 1.32 S/h at 23:18
I found no evidence of any human element as part of the “robot”
up to the 25:00 point.

@fireguyjeff, I think the “skull and bones” symbol in the right down corner of the panel is just prophetic.
