Police Block Access To July 6th Protest at Japanese PM’s Office in Tokyo
Published on Jul 6, 2012
Published by freedomwv

It was a rainy day in Tokyo on July 6th 2012. Yet, the Anti-Nuclear protesters still came out at the Japanese PM’s official office to again attempt to get his ear. Although, this time was different. The police were ready for it. Access was very limited. As you can see in this video, they were not letting people pass into the area. I was not allowed to get any closer than what you saw in this video. After getting this footage, I started tweeting the event and posting pics.

At 5:30 in

[Police are] not allowing anyone to get near it. Not allowing anyone to join. They’ve clamped down on protesting here… we’re not allowed to get anywhere near it.

Protesters: Move around…change locations of the protest..fly banners out windows..put signs in your cars..keep moving
    Protest in place.
Japanese law enforcement: You are participating in the lock-down of the Japanese people.
Someday..your children and grandchildren will curse your name.
    Know it.

I also wonder – maybe if protesters are denied closer access to the PM's office building, the crowd can be effective "where they are". (Why not?)

Or at a different site (block traffic in a strategic spot?).

If numbers protesting are high enough – stage at multiple sites?

(I'm not sure my status with future generations would motivate me – what motivates me is my answer to "Am I doing the best I can to bring about essential change.")

Protesters – your task is immense. Your concerns overwhelming. you have our hearts and we send you our courage.

If the protesters continue to build pressure – the government will soon declare "Marshall Law". Then the protesters might as well move to Syria – for it will be the same. The voices of the people clamoring for change will not be heard. And this is democracy?

People are done with nuclear. And will never stop protesting. Only solution is to abolish it …all nuclear power plants, worldwide. We're doomed if we don't.

Prepare to protest here in the USE(sic-E for Empire). They, TPTB, won't give us what we need, what is right, or what we the people democratically demand. We must force them to act, or change the system entirely.

And remember, numbers count. Labor won many things years ago by solidarity in numbers. I suggest we come together in solidarity with all peace & anti-nuke groups around the globe, with Occupy, and all the movements which she the crimes of the status quo and wish for change.

    There is power in Numbers!

Two reasons to gather – one to express solidarity and bolster the Japanese people's sense of our strong support, and two – to make clear that nuclear power is a disastrous "solution".

The second must re-direct from nuclear to alternatives to fossil fuels or we'll find ourselves inadvertently "approving" fracking and other extreme and earth-destroying extraction processes. *Maybe* America's experience this summer with extreme temps and crops failing across prime food-producing regions will help make the fossil-fuel link to global warming more clear.

It was a difficult day in the rain. The weather only added to the emotions and seriousness of the day. Everything there, including the police, were very uncomfortable and about to explode with emotions.

Japanese mount anti-nuclear energy rally in N.Y.
    NEW YORK, July 7, Kyodo

About 40 people mainly from Japan mounted an antinuclear rally in downtown New York on Saturday in what the organizers called a joint action with huge weekly demonstrations opposing nuclear energy near the prime minister's office in Tokyo.

The demonstrators, including Akihiro Yamamoto, a 35-year-old musician from Japan's Tottori, marched through the streets in the city crowded with citizens and tourists holding a banner reading "Save Beautiful Japan No Nukes."

Yamamoto and others organized the event as anti-nuclear energy demonstrators have massed near the premier's office every Friday since earlier this year and the number of participants has topped 10,000 recently.

Japan webcam videos blocked for my IP address. Any webcam video showing the transportation systems, streets/metro systems–looks to be blocked (all black)? Now the race car webcams, thats just FINE. Anyone able to capture the metro centers webcam video to show citizen movement? Guess its part of "crowd control"..aka the "flu" control program. Get sick with radiation/flu and lock down everywhere..to keep the sick in their places, waiting.

Our polite attitude towards police control needs to be revised.

I crown thee …. Molly, Queen of the Understatement

    :)

    nice succinct summation

Gotham, 2 points: 1) I don't think a classic heavy handed, brutal crack down will work in this fast evolving country.

2)Syria has issues, but most of them are caused by CIA/Mossad infiltration with Saudi and others $. DO NOT buy the western propoganda, just ask the Libyans and Egyptians.

ok 3 points…..i really very rarely take on the role of spelling Police…. and no hard feelings…..its what we in education call a teachable moment though, so It's Martial Law,
like Martial Arts etc. I have seen many people make this mistake over the years so, please take this with the good intentions it was posted.
