Description: I will provide several videos over the next weeks and months — radiation check food, drinks, soil (Tokyo/Yokohama/Chiba) please subscribe and rate thumbs up Thank you for your support!

Can anyone read the labels to see what radioactive isotope(s) they are testing for?

This testing facility looks good! Can anybody use it for testing?? If so – a huge step to the right direction.

Dear Bread: I am not the one for this (don’t have the resources or networking ability, connections); but it would be great, and I would contribute, to a 100% public created, funded and supervised (100% direct democracy, no board hierarchy) center for studying samples for radionuclide contamination from all sources worldwide. I wonder how to organize something like that. Not trying to put you on the spot, at all. I am simply just trying to get the idea out there and your post inspired me. I hope all is well with you and yours this holiday season, as is possible with this situation.

Could somebody please tell me roughly how much this is: “1,850 disintegrations per second in a liter of soil”?

We hear so many numbers,….at least I do,…what do we know about this much, was it cesium?

A single Becquerel is one nucleus decay per second. So this reading of 1850 means that every second, ~1850 radioactive particles decay and release a burst of energy per unit of the substance measured.

Picture 1850 laser beams shooting out in all directions from that liter of soil. Every second.

When looking at these numbers, you have to be careful to pay attention to the unit used for the quantity of the substance measured. 6bQ/G sounds like it’s not so bad, until you convert to kG and realize its the same as 6000bQ/kg. Details matter, especially when trying to make sense of the readings being reported.

Dear Still: I recall that 100 dpm/cu meter is considered excessive by lax U.S. standards. This is per liter, much less volume, not sure how it would compared to cubic meter, not sure if it’s a volume or a mass thing, probably volume. I believe this would be a very large, very dangerous reading. Who knows what cocktail of dozens of radionuclides it’s detecting.

@ Admin AND StillJill…I see 131 and 137 on those chart meaning of course Radio Iodine and Cesium repectively…also meaning in classic fashion that no one wishes to measure Strontiums, the worst of the three and assumed to accompany Cesium by I think a 1 to 4 ratio in liquid and a 1 to 3 in solid percentage of strontium to cesium

  • The meter says he is finding 1,800 Bq/liter of whatever isotope he is registering.. Which one? Is it one of these?

  • I wonder what excuse they will come up with, if hundreds of residents test thousands of sites and all of them come up with high radiation levels like this one?

No doubt, the Japanese government will go in there and find lost and buried radium bottles in each and every one of these sites…Or, they will try to find some alien spacecraft debris and blame it one them.. Or maybe it will be some of that leftover Ann Colter recommended radium containing FUKU basement water.

It would be funny if it were not so tragic and sad.

  • There should not be ANY radiation in the soil. The answer is ZERO Bq/Kg.

As the author says, every disintegration is like a gun shooting. If this is inside your body, it is like spinning a roulette wheel. Will the damage be fatal and cause cancer, a birth defect a disease, or just kill some cells that will be replaced?

It is better to not to swallow a loaded gun…

Dear Green: You are 100% correct. No soil anywhere in Japan should test higher than 0 Bq/Liter or dpm/Liter. There are alpha emitters at volcanic spas; but I don’t think this testing sight measures that but can’t be sure as I do not read Japanese. If the testing equipment is professional scientific grade stuff, and not just civilian (who the hell knows who regulates civilian equipment-ratings are not well qualified is my impression after 9 months), then this is a very serious reading and represents what I would consider to be a call for immediate evacuation of, at least this site, due to the dangers of bioacummulation of alpha, beta, gamma emitting radionuclides that definitely contaminate the site, as well as due to danger of neutron emitters that turn all tissues into radioactive versions (isotopes) of themselves. This safety concern is, as we all know, especially grave for children, elderly or for anyone when “t” for time is factored.
