Water cannons unable spray reactor, forced to turn away because radiation level was too high – NHK at 6:20 am EST

BBC at 6:32 am EST: Japanese police were unable to use a water cannon to help release water on the Fukushima nuclear power plant because of high radiation levels, the country’s NHK broadcaster reports, according to AFP.

    That was the first attempt.
    Four military trucks are now pouring water (up to 30 tons) on units 3 & 4.

    Japan tried high-pressure water cannons, fire trucks and even helicopters that dropped batches of seawater in increasingly frantic attempts Thursday to cool an overheated nuclear complex as U.S. officials warned the situation was deteriorating.
