Here are several tweets from journalist Iwakami Yasumi translated by Fukushima Diary.
Yasumi had recently visited the Fukushima plant during the Tepco press tour this past Monday, Feb. 20. 1,500 microSv/h was detected on the bus.

I’ve been sick these 3 days. Especially yesterday and today, I suffer from severe diarrhea and stomachache. My doctor diagnosed it as apendicitis. He says probably I had my immune system weaken by overworking. I still haven’t had peritonitis so no need of having open abdominal surgery, but was told to stay safe at home, don’t eat anything until Tuesday. @iwakamiyasumi
(When I was tweeting) I have been in the toilet. It’s almost like water. Ass hurts. I wish it was bidet. @iwakamiyasumi
I had my blood tested at hospital. Inflammation reaction was at the maximum. The white blood cell ‘s counter was about in the middle of the normal range. Doctor says, it’s going to increase and strengthen the immune system. The climax hasn’t come yet, he says. Had an injection of anti-biotics. had a sudden fever since a while ago. can’t stop shivering, wearing many clothes. Go for it, my immune system.

A Tepco thermometer would fix that fever. It will be interesting to see if his tour-mates get sick also.

"A Tepco thermometer would fix that fever". Now that was funny!

TEPCO will risk the lives of journalists to prove their point…

but if the journalists lives are risked, it proves OUR point

Yea, that poor guy geez. That has to be scary. I am surprised with the evidence of radiation poisoning he has blindly accepted what the doctor said. Once I read his white blood cell count was down (I.E. low, but in normal range. He probably wasn't shown the actual results.), it reinforced the radiation poisoning idea. Maybe, a blood transfusion would clear him right up, if he was diagnosed properly?
This only further lends credence to the exact same symptoms many in Japan have and are experiencing due to the massive amounts of radiation scattered around Japan. How many times have we read personal accounts of these same symptoms and how many disillusioned people just wrote them off as mental or in no way possible from radiation?(Mr. Fuku Diary.)
The positive of this situation could be him realizing how intense and dangerous the radiation actually is there to this day. Perhaps, he will start writing very critical articles of the nuclear industry and write the very real dangers in many communities in Japan. Maybe, dispel the belief that decontamination actually works and show how dangerous even "low" doses of radiation are. I wonder if he is the only journalist that got sick from Fukushima?

I will ditto that comment markww. I wish this photographer the very best.

Whoopie. I have a question. You called Yasumi a "photographer." I went back and re-read everything to see if I could find a reference to him as a photographer. I could only find references to him as a journatist. I watched the 3 hour ustream video of the tour last night and decided to try to contact an American cameraman for NBC named Josh Talbot. His name and NBC were clear on the back of his tyvec suit.
So, if you could get back with any information about where you read/saw he was a photographer, that would be helpful. Thank you.

Maybe Monbiot should pay a visit since he thinks that the negative effects of the triple meltdowns are being exaggerated…

In case of irradiation, white blood cells decrease (as he wrote he is experiencing).
In case of appendicitis, white blood cells should increase in number (not decrease).
Am I missing something or the doctor's diagnostic is wrong?
Report Comment
Well, when every news source a typical citizen receives says that radiation is basically harmless and that there isn't much contamination (The nuclear propaganda lines.) the doctor will probably ignore any diagnoses of radiation sickness. Now, if the doctor was an intelligent man he would have immediately thought of radiation because HE WAS COMING FROM FUKUSHIMA! lol
People have an irrational trust in doctors, just as they have an irrational trust of leaders and politicians. How many doctors sign their names off on fake pharmaceutical studies to get their drugs rushed through unsafely? It also applies to scientists. What kind of men are the scientists who designed and implemented the force sterilization of "unwanteds"? (Blacks, immigrants, and the poor) Scientists and doctors in the United States, up until the 60's (From information that is publicly available.), forced hysterectomies and other sterilization procedures on innocent women, and perhaps children, whom were lied to by their doctors so they could perform these horrific surgeries. Scientists created the unsafe nuke plants (Which they knew were unsafe from the very beginning) and also created the nuclear bombs and detonated thousands of them contaminating countless numbers of people. It can not be denied that the setting off of nuclear bombs created thousands of cases, if not more, cancers and leukemia in children. Now, the doctors and scientists working on programs concerning the bombs KNEW at the time that people would get sick and die from their very actions. Money will make the best of men cowards and narcissists. Don't forget that Hitler got the very flawed ideas of eugenics from the U.S.'s very own prominent doctors and scientists of the time! Just another facet of the crisis of credibility.

"doctors in the United States, up until the 60's (From information that is publicly available.), forced hysterectomies and other sterilization procedures on innocent women,"
Yes. I know a Native American whose doctor performed a hysterectomy on her without her knowledge or consent in that time frame. She and her husband had had a child with down's syndrome. She knew her daughter would not live very long and was so distressed when she learned what they had done to her. She lost her only child and could not have another. I can't believe she didn't sue that Doctor.

Interesting this reporter should be ill after such a short time at the site. Makes you wonder what actual radiation levels are vs. what is being reported. Some areas are off limts because of high radiation levels.
One has to wonder what the plant workers are being exposed to.
I noticed they wear Tyvek suits. Unless there is some special kind of Tyvek (and there probably is) it only blocks particulate matter down to the 1 micron level or so. Some types are rated from 2 to 30 microns.
The sub-atomic particles (radionuclides) are probably much smaller than 1 micron.
So, what is being filtered out by the Tyvek suiting, and are the workers being adequately protected? Knowing how Tepco wants to cut corners and do everything on the cheap, you have to wonder.
http://www2.dupont.com/Medical_Packaging/en_US/assets/downloads/asahi_kasei.pdf
There is a type of Tyvek medical grade paper capable of filtering viruses that is used in medical applications in Japan (see above).
Maybe the plant workers and visitors should be wearing suiting made from this kind of material. It is probably very costly.

i had watched the more then five hours livestream from the tour.
-at many times they must putted the cameras down.
-benear rea4 they stand outsides with half open suits?!
-many dudes without masks acting around in "red nose" areas, the high dosis places

I watched 3 hours of the tour. The press rarely had their masks on, and then the masks were only the cloth ones I can buy at CVS. They were given ventilater/respirator masks, but they did not wear them. And, as Nuck states, half of them had there necks and zippers open in the front.
Didn't look good to my eyes!

I'm not a doctor. I AM, however, an EMT, and I find the instructions given to this patient… perplexing. The idea is to remove the thing BEFORE it bursts and causes peritonitis. The only way that a responsible doc would recommend this is if the patient's CRP score was remaining stable, which is incompatible with his supposed statement that 'inflamation was at its maximum.'
Of course, abdominal surgery ain't gonna do a lick of good in the case of acute radiation poisoning, and of course the doc is gonna know that, which may explain this. All I know is that a doctor telling a patient that he has appendicitis, and then telling him to stay home and not eat until Tuesday is completely outside of my experience and training.

Ditto.
I am a semi-retired MD (anesthesia, mostly big city trauma centers)
SOMETIMES (often)……..patients DRASTICALLY mishear and therefore misrepresent what their Doc. has said.
If he was accurate and the doc got a decent history…….they are stalling. Bummer, yes?

Why would anyone have a rational mistrust of doctors and the medical profession in general?

Results of Fukushima's Preliminary Exposure Survey Announced: What Do 2 Experts Say?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kuznHMxg0HI
Fukushima Prefecture is conducting a health survey with all its 2 million residents to estimate the amount of their external radiation exposure during the first 4 months of the accident. On February 20, the results of the preliminary survey with approximately 10,000 residents were announced.
This video shows how NHK Fukushima TV reported about the results and how 2 experts reacted to them. One is Dr. Shunichi Yamashita, Vice President of Fukushima Medical University, who played a critical role in persuading residents out of immediate evacuation by preaching safety through his many lectures in the early months of the accident. The other one is Dr. Hiroaki Koide, Research Associate at Kyoto University Research Reactor Institute, who has been fighting against nuclear power plants for nearly 40 years.
The first half of this video clip is from a NHK Fukushima TV's local news program called "HamaNaka Aizu" aired on February 20, 2012.
The second half of this video clip is from a news & information radio program called "Tanemaki Journal" aired on February 20, 2012 (this part is audio only).

Stringent? Radiation Safety Standards for Food: Chernobyl vs Fukushima
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh1aQopSnck
This video is a combination of two different video segments to show a contrast in attitudes toward the radiation safety standards for food between Belarus and Japan.
The first one is from a Swiss TSI TV program entitled "Ten Years after the Chernobyl Accident" (1998), broadcasted on Japan's NHK BS1 in an unidentified year. A scientist speaking in the segment is late Dr. Vassilli Nesterenko, a physicist from Belarus, who made tremendous efforts on the consequences of the Chernobyl catastrophe (See wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vassili_Nesterenko).
Please also note that even children who lived more than 200km away from the Chernobyl plant suffered from terrible health problems.
The second segment is from a NHK Fukushima's local news program called "HamaNaka Aizu Today" aired on February 16, 2012, reporting the new radiation safety standards for food that will become effective in April.

So obviously chronic radiation poisoning, not acute though, so he won't die probably, but the diahhrea might get him, if he doesn't start with the de-ionized water. Having just barely survived it myself (hence my…) I had all of those symptoms and I suffered badly for three months.
After cutting out all highly contaminated foods, esp milk products, apples, potatoes and started to chelate on a daily basis, did I finally make it.
All of you are suffering in some form here in the States because it is in the water supply. the shower each day, the cup of coffee, even the citrus is bad (TDS and Geiger readings) My Florida Grapefruit was smoking hot. Each day I find something else that I cant eat. The only thing that is keeping me alive is my DI from Whole Foods. And energy bars.
Starvation looms.
