Takumi Takan, lived in Tomioka 9 km from Fukushima Daiichi: [...] My husband worked at the [Fukushima Daiichi] plant for 37 years. [...]
The day of the quake he told us right away that we should evacuate. My 80 y/o father lived close by. So we escaped together to the south. My husband said the wind was blowing north. He knew even before the government announced. When we were on the run he said the plant would melt down. He didn’t explain in details then. [….]
It makes me sad to think that the 60-80 yr old people are taking responsibility for this yet the people in charge; namely the Japan Government, Tepco and GE; have not stepped up.
There is one thing that continues to bother me though; people keep referring to this as an "accident". An accident implies that it's no ones fault that this occurred. This was, and continues to be, an calamity caused by negligence, greed, and arrogance. There are many at fault and this definitely could have been avoided. Even after the initial explosions and leaks the damages could have been mitigated and contained yet the blind greed of the Government and Tepco let it continue to happen. Out own governments are at fault for not stepping in and taking control of this situation. As countries that utilize and sell nuclear power we have to take responsibility when it OUR technology fails. This isn't just effecting Japan, radioactive fallout does not recognize political or geographical boundaries. It's spreading across the entire planet and will continue to effect us all for generations to come.
"They never even distributed iodine." The Japanese government, at all levels–and with few exceptions–utterly failed to protect the people of Japan. And still, people continue to live and work amid this terrible contamination. The nuke plants pour out radiation day and night, into air, the water, and into the Ocean. The people will someday demand justice, and an end to nuclear tyranny. Japan is toast. So very sad.
I've been asking for justice to be applied for two years. The Japanese people will be dead before they prosecute these criminals, who have continued to live life largesse, while thousands have been permanently displaced from their homeland and animals have been lift to starve to death and wildlife has become contaminated.
A major crime has been underway for two years (and more) yet nothing is being done. No wonder I'm a little perpetually peeved.
Yes, I've wondered that too. That's one reason why I'd like to see prosecutions happening now. The culprits will get to live out their lives like the rest of us. It's an injustice and offensive to many. Even as of now, they have had too much freedom and not enough investigation and prosecution.
Two years already .. sheesh. World government and corporations obviously hold the general public in contempt.
The psychopaths that are in control of Japan..and governments around the world..act as thought they are impervious to radiation.
Do they really think that they will have the health to run their country in the future?
They stand there on the same ground..eating the same food..breathing the same air..drinking the same water.
Why would their destiny be any different than those..around them.
TPTB are bigger fools than I gave them credit for.
People's opinions on the level of risk is always going to vary, HTR. Even with absolute, concrete proof of the consequences of any toxin, some people are going to be undecided and still others will insist that the consequences are impossible or improbable.
Since so little study has been directed at low-level radiation effects, there's hardly any absolute, concrete proof. At least not enough to counter the decades of censorship or industry-sponsored studies. Most of Japan's population must be confused or unsure, and only mildly skewed to the 'radiation is bad' side.
Psychopathy only ensures that the leaders are incapable of understanding the victims' current and future suffering, or the distress and fear experienced by the population as a whole. They can't believe there is much of a risk to themselves if they can't understand the consequences.
To use your own words: "Why would their destiny be any different than those..around them?"
Definition of level of risk..an estimate of the radioactive materials..even in one's mind's eye..can lead one to deduce that the contamination will be extensive.
No..no..the current government in Japan..the science community knows.. what has occurred and exactly what is going on…and choose to say nothing.
They understand the toxicity of radiation..fully well…and are in clear collusion with the US..to hide the facts.
These..these are the one's ..these sick and twisted minds.
Without admitting the facts about Fukushima..their feigned ignorance..doom THEMSELVES as well as their people.
See..that's what they want..they want us to tire ourselves out..while beating our chests.
But the fact is..there is a sector of people in this world..that sees clearly and this continues to grow.
What it needs now is nurturing.
TPTB gets the drift.
Wouldn't it be grand to set to paper..a new more concise document of freedom.
It seems however..that we only chose to give away..the freedoms we already have.
We must at least..hold.
The Constitution and Bill of Rights are pretty keen documents.
LAWS..to which many both military and civilian give their allegiance to.
This allegiance..clear and away from any political group in power at the time.
This gives these documents.. the enduring power to provide freedoms for the generations to come.
For some of us..this is everything.
Long Live Freedom.
Mmmn … I think the evidence for "low level" radiation being harmful exists. However, it is suppressed and under-reported. There is resistance to allowing the public at large to become aware.
Contrast this thinking to what people were told in light of the threat of nuclear war, during the Cold War.
The contrast is both stark and vivid.
We KNEW radiation was dangerous, way back in the 1960's. We knew it would harm you if you were exposed to much, or that you would die.
In fifth grade, someone brought a Geiger Counter to my classroom, and explained its operation. He was a geology expert. He also explained why one wanted to avoid radiation exposure — except for routine X-rays.
It was common knowledge radiation was harmful to health — or at least the potential for harm existed.
Now the public at large is just ignorant, or uninformed. Or the risks have been trivialized to the point where people are just brainwashed.
good eye richard. When the post was put-up, I thought about flagging it as being OT; thought otherwise as it's an obvious newbie; possibly dejected AJ fan, looking for a new home; be nice…just move on. Then you have to ponder their next post, that we're to "…leave all hate, anger and personal attacks where they belong. Not here!" I look around and notice, no one's fighting here. Fact is, people are doing their best to be presentable while showing utmost respect to others. This is what makes 'our people' so admirable. Then, it's like a light in the darkness. "So tell us sir…just when did you stop beating your wife?" The question has no other purpose than to infer the perception of guilt within the mind of the jury. It's a cheap game that they're playing and I'm glad you threw a light on it. Whoever 'they' are, they're surely far from being primitive in what their doing out here…
what are you talking about??!!~And who are you to point out peoples "faults" according to YOU,or how they should feel or who they should be angry or hate? I didn't see any personal attacks and I sure as hell don't see anything that doesn't belong here on this thread EXCEPT for YOUR comments?!! Since you posted an OT "distraction" and mentioned this was where we should "argue" against the facts here instead but find it a convenient opportunity to change the discussion from facts that the nuke pukes have NOT engaged in,but are likely to be happy to see someone taking the focus away from the issue at hand-"Agenda 21"??! Really? This thread & the "non-elderly" victims who benefit from the conversation IF it hadn't been side-tracked with conspiracy crap that ALWAYS derails discussion groups & is a great disservice to people who have every right to express hatred, anger, and personal attacks on the GUILTY parties, and if not "here"-then WHERE(?) is it proper in your self-appointed "moderator" opinion is the right place??! When your 39 yr. old spouse is suffering and YOU spend 5 days a week for nearly a year in hospital cancer centers-then we'll see if you've changed your position to one that includes seeing you live up to your misleading ENE username..(just saying..)BTW,it has been made VERY clear that a thankfully small portion of ENEwsers treat the ongoing nuclear disaster/ELE as if it were a Chupacabre,Sasquatch,UFO,etc. sensationalist issue even as it KILLS…
maybe I missed something that was removed because it exceeded the level of tolerance usually given by Admin to let some of us squabble just enough to "vent" and get it out of there systems? I haven't seen anything personally on THIS thread though and if I'm a "hater" or I make personal attacks on nuke pukes-so be it!! I'm not here to present the viewpoints of the lemmings nor am I "plastic" and I always tell the truth-even when I lie… If something vicious or vile was set out here and removed then I retract "part" of my own assumptions & opinions presented above. But I make no excuses nor am I feeling guilty for the hate I have for those who bred it and brought it to levels I didn't think I was capable of feeling until I saw my wife gutted like a fish and poisoned with toxic compounds and irradiated(again) for 39 days in a row that left her with a horrific scar and void where her left breast & 7 lymph nodes "used to be"!! Three new cancer diagnoses in the past week involving people I care about give me the right to hate and accuse and make all the personal attacks on the RIGHT parties as I please!! If it somehow translates to banning me from ENE-so be it! But I NEVER try to make myself look good at the expense of someone going through Hell whether I agree with their logic or who the blame! If someone's pissed enough to post angry, hateful comments I must assume they feel they earned that right and I thank them for BEING REAL!! ;| ~**
hi Johnny, I'm not sure krugthecaveman meant too much harm .. there has been some animosity of late across some other threads, i fell into it as well.
There seems to be a rise in the heat of late, and having recognised it within myself again lately, I intended to throttle it back (to my best meager abilities ).
But that being said, you are right that people should be able to express how they're feeling.. ideally not at the expense of others I suppose.. and I know I've been guitly of it, so I am not claiming any pious right.
Richard, that's a very humble acknowledgment. I too tend to speak my mind a bit too openly, and have been told it comes off as sounding hostile when it isn't intended. Thank you. Humility is a great asset and a valuable addition to anyone's personality. I know because what little I have has not come easily to me.
@richard; I know and I'm sorry for posting an un-called for remark the other day when I took your comment personally as well. I don't mind telling you that I have the same level of contempt for the pro-nukers although I don't wish to see them vaporized if it meant the rest of us were included!lol! My blood boils every time I think about the people responsible for where we ALL are at today-waiting our turn to sit in chemo infusion centers that I've also found some interesting things about as well,as in "who" is now investing into facilities who specialize in treating cancers!(?) I hold back ten times as much harshness and details of what thoughts this issue brings to my mind because I have people sick & dying to take care of and make sure they suffer as little as possible-BUT when they die or reach the stages that I'm not able to help them anymore I WILL set out my manifesto here & take things to the next level -I already set out enough to have this computer "invaded" & certain "seemingly" unrelated "sanctions" & "attention" resulted even though what they want to find out about won't be in any computer or written notes, etc. anyway. Whatever I might be,or be "labelled" as under any circumstances would NEVER compare with what TPTB have done to the victims/public whose only "guilt" is having trusted them and allowing them to lead us into extinction.I can see that the lies are catching up to them now & we may yet be able to "seize" the moment soon! TAKE…
Please Johnny, you don't have to apologise. I'm commenting as much for myself, besides a little convo with you.
I quickly read your reply and I wanted to chirp up to say thanks for the reply, and my opening sentence.
It's been heated here, and I know I may have trud on your toes. I've also been following your story, I can very much understand you are very annoyed and frustrated, I know I would be, if in your shoes, to say the least.
I certainly can equal your contempt for the nukers… have no doubt there, I'm sure I've expressed it in detail before.
Like I say, no easy answer. I for one would like to see some 'normality' restored. Who knows how long I can maintain it though But we are all on the same side.. just not all coming from the same viewpoint. But that's a good thing.
Still juggling here.. but nothing compared to what's on your plate.. so I'll shutup for now, you say what you need to say.
Thanks richard; I have to wonder what "normality" will be should there be a successful "stabilizing" effort achieved since anything less than total shutdown, dismantling and safely(?) isolating the waste from the environment seems to be the only chance we have to save the world that is either beyond or "right at the tipping point" of no return?! I share your frustration with the masses who are so narrow-minded & gullible that they can't allow realities that threaten their lifestyles & comfort level to be spoiled by issues & news of impending doom due to failed technology and the lies they're all too happy to buy into if it allows them to think they will still be enjoying themselves & life will go on after accidental & intentional releases of man-made radioactivity catches up to them.Fukushima is the worst nuclear disaster "on record" now. I don't believe it is/was the worst though-just the worst "on record"!(?) For me personally EVERYTHING turned real ugly & I had no misconceptions that things were going to get real bad & not just for Japan when I watched the news on 3/11 & the mere mention of a mega-NPP being hit hard & lost cooling! That anxiety grew with every explosion & glimpse of news that followed & abruptly ENDED!!(?) I "almost" started to believe we might be able to sustain & recover from the disaster UNTIL my worst nightmare(s) began with my own wife, then losing our unborn grandchild followed with many more cancer cases than I ever saw in my life..~ …
krug, the white papers don't come right out and state the objective. However, when yone looks at future planned land use (example, Agenda 21 map of land use for the United States), the "agenda" becomes pretty clear. If 95% or more of the land in areas currently populated is "restricted" or there is no access, then what happens to all the people currently living in those areas?
Connect the dots. Think. There is no other logical conclusion.
Japan just happened to be where that last meltdown happened. Reactors melt, winds blow the radiation, and no government or scientist can change it. The only solution is to stop using this dangerous technology. We want safe, we want wind and solar.
But wind and solar are free! There isn't enough profit in selling solar panels and windmills to satisfy greedy corporate executives and shareholders. They want to control the entire process and that is feasible with oil, gas and nuclear. The ones that whine about wind and solar being impractical and inadequate forget that if it weren't for government subsidies and enabling regulations the most toxic energy industries would be at an even more primitive level of development than the safe renewables!
Amberlight, you are so right. That's why the discoveries of people like Nikolai Tesla and Royal Raymond Rife, M.D. were suppressed in the early 1900's. Their discoveries were based on inexpensive electricity and the application of electrical wave forms. The peaceful applications of Tesla's discoveries (outside production of electricity for power) are still a mystery to most people, to this day.
Tesla had been considered to receive a joint Nobel prize. As he had a falling out with Thomas Alva Edison, only Edison received the prize. Tesla was arguably the greater genius.
Hi HoTaters; I'm glad you posted the facts about the misconceptions & controversial history of Edison & Tesla. I'd known of this and much more thanks to my late-Grandmother who was 100% Croatian-American & was very aggravated with schoolbooks & history lessons that gave Edison credit where credit wasn't due-in fact Edison stubbornly clung to his impossible notion of a power grid based on DC electricity and then stole credit for Tesla's work after it was proven to be the only viable method of transporting electricity for the long distances & acceptable "line losses" involved-unlike Edison's DC version that his ego wouldn't allow him to "let go" of and work together & share credit for the efficient AC technology Tesla came up with FIRST! I just got a sense of dejavu from the post & issue!(?) "It has a familiar & distinctively "American" ring to it!"~as in "geniuses" going forward with dangerous, unpredictable & uncontrollable technology despite knowing it was inefficient, toxic, unmanageable and incomprehensibly costly in terms of cost, resources, environmental impacts & undeniably the most dangerous & STUPID thing EVER invented-but nonetheless touted as some kind of GREAT step forward for mankind despite the bad points FAR outweighing anything "good" building them across the country & exporting the crap to the other nuke club member nations who now are paying for having "bought into the nuclear lies"-The Edison co. hasn't changed their policies one bit!~ ~**
My grandfather was from Transylvania. The Romanians were looked down upon by the English and some other Western Europeans.
He was brilliant, and designed an aircraft engine in the 1940's or 1950's which would have allowed an plane to navigate in any direction — up, down, sideways. These engines were later developed by someone else (corporation, Lockheed?) and were put on aircraft during the Vietnam war era.
My father, a commercial pilot, fighter squadron captain, and trained in engineering, told me it would have functioned perfectly, if the rest of the design were done properly.
He was not considered an educated man. Nonetheless, there are and were a lot of very brilliant Eastern Europeans.
Have you seen this? Maybe a bit OT here, but it is related to the development of electrical energy, and nuclear energy for civilian use follows from that. Good documentary. I think this is the one which discusses how Tesla became very unpopular with his neighbors in Pennsylvania, when he began to cause local earthquakes, using one of the energy devices he built.
lol, I didn't get to the YouTube link yet but I immediately was reminded of the Tesla/PA EQ incident(s) story. If I'm not mistaken it was a device that generated the same frequencies associated with the earths resonance and the brick masonry building had to be condemned or collapsed at some point along with some other structures on the block? He was the "original Mad Scientist" & the same animosity towards Eastern European immigrants or scholars led to his being thought of as a "evil genius" when in reality without his work NONE of the modern conveniences we rely on today would've been possible without his work! That's also very interesting info about your grandfathers work too! I wonder if his contributions led to the development of the Harrier & subsequent VTOL aircraft designs? Thanks for posting HoTaters, unless I'm interrupted by my better-half suffering medical emergencies or an ISP disruption,etc.-I always include your posts & links among those I value most! ~ Keep it coming! ~**
Maybe grandpa studied Tesla. I see now neither Tesla nor Edison got the Nobel prize.
We don't know what happened to Grandpa's aircraft engine design. My mother or father may still have it.
Personally have lots of drawings & descriptions, never finished & patented. Lyme disease & other tick-borne disease conditions caused me to have "directional confusion" & have trouble finishing projects.
Don't get Lyme if you can help it. Found almost everywhere on earth, now, except parts of Africa and South America.
JB, glad you like the posts. Enjoy doing research & writing.
This interview is the most comprehensive assessment I've heard of the situation told from a personal viewpoint. She covers all the points from the plant construction to its status when the disaster struck; from the willingness of brave elders to risk their lives amidst the official deception and coverup to the atmosphere of denial in Tokyo. (I know someone whose family still lives in Tokyo even though they have a place to call home here in the states!)
Most poignant is how honest, hard-working people who believed they were doing good are blaming themselves and putting themselves in jeopardy while the real criminals continue to spew lies and hide from both accountability and personal risk.
I think it's a pretty much universal feeling that the USA is responsible for much of the problem and for expeditiously implementing the technology threatening to take us ALL out. My frustration and intolerance towards Japan isn't personal. I'm just stunned that they would just sit wallowing in radioactive poison without standing up for the rights of the CHILDREN to live healthy, long lives even if the adults who are responsible for them won't stand up for themselves!!(?) My feelings are that JAPAN has to be the place where the beginning of the END of the Nuclear Age starts before TPTB are forced to do the right thing via "INTERNATIONAL" pressures! I don't believe Earth's life forms have a chance to survive "business as usual",much less continuing to "wait & see" how this all plays out in Japan!~The radioactive plumes and constant releases into the air & sea don't need a passport to cross borders and intentionally faulty RadNet monitors, etc. are worthless for alerting households that unwelcome "visitors" are arriving and don't plan to leave anytime soon! Their logic seems to be that since China,Iran, etc. will continue their reckless industrial agendas-so we might as well keep up the bad work too!(?) Somebody HAS to step up to the plate and stand down all of the filthy NPP's as an example for all other nations to follow or ALL IS LOST!! I am loyal & supportive of my country and its people, yet disgusted by its govt./industrial policies & lack of leadership!~ …
The most unselfish thing Japan can do for the world is to stand up Loud and Sure against nuclear power. It has ruined them and they can use this to help the rest of the world survive through closing this human experience chapter together. Nuclear has contaminated EVERYTHING that is beautiful from their country.
Standing in place for them will not achieve what I'm talking about either.
+1000 Anthony!!-THEY have to be the ones to break free from the BS and cultural obstacles and lead by example! Protecting Japanese & USA nuke pukes industry & expansion ambitions while allowing the elite & powerful to escape prosecution for their parts in the destruction of their nation and people is probably going to end up being one of the worst things I will have witnessed in my lifetime?!! Will they come to their senses and "do the right thing"(in time?)-is another question I hope is answered with the Japanese people rising up and scrapping nuclear & allowing the REAL impacts of Fukushima to be fully revealed to the world thus exposing it and TPTB for what they REALLY are! You posted something awhile ago that I thought the same way about then and now~"it feels like I woke up in a alternate-universe"or something along those lines!(?) It's just beyond me how MILLIONS of people can eat radioactive lies and lay dying STILL wondering WHAT made them sick under the assumption that their leadership would NEVER let anything so harmful & toxic even exist, much less in their own backyards and AFTER the absolute WORST-CASE scenario has already taken place & those they trusted already KILLED them whether they know or accept it yet?!~I do not believe that the loss of electricity, jobs,or impact on the stock markets would represent any serious threat to even the present global economy woes.~"COWBOY UP!"- PEOPLE OF JAPAN!~
