if they are examined at an honest hospital, they will likely show radiation exposure.

At least they're getting better care than the children . . .

How can a person work at the top of a blown-up reactor/SFP and have zero contamination. I think they forgot to put in the part about " Levels of No Concern" or " Not an Immediate Health Risk".
Report Comment
Because TEPCO and the bureaucrats control the area and no private geiger counter owners can get anywhere near it, the radiation level drops to zero. I doubt TEPCO and the bureaucrats measure anything inside the core.

Notice how they worded it: "no radioactive contamination ON the body." Not only do they fail to mention internal contamination, but they ignore the possibility of exposure to high radiation from nearby material… You don't need to be covered in the stuff, just being near it or breathing it will do plenty.

very worrying for them and their families.. my respects…

Dear Arclight,
My heart goes out to them too. Not to simplify things, but it's hot and humid there now. Add to that the stress of such a dangerous mission and tremendous exposure to radiation. I am overwhelmed by the courage of these heroic persons. I hope they are receiving the best medical care possible.
Aloha.

Tsss… It is written " it was found no contamination ON the body"
Normal. Their protection suit must have been removed before reaching the hospital. It doesn't mean they have not been badly exposed…

Exactly. Doubletalk nukespeak from Tepclowns.

"Definitely not related to radiation. It is impossible." – Inherited the reality distortion field from Steve Jobs it would seem.
Report Comment
Well, it didn't kill them immediately, so I guess it's safe to say there was no immediate risk to their health.

I was working on a npp, in a refuelling work, and i got internal radiation.
When i was working on a westinghouse PWR , and shielding primary pipes, i got contaminated on my head and shoulder, and after a pressure shower, i was cleaned again. But after a month doing that job, and finish working, I got internal contamination.
I this workers should do.

I hope you're OK and avoided the worst. Few here have been through anything like this, and you have much to teach us.
Welcome.

Dear Ganxet,
Thank you for posting. It takes a lot of courage. I believe you can help many others by speaking out.
Please know my heart sincerely goes out to you and those you love for your misfortune. I'm with Time Is Short in 'hoping you avoided the worst!
Can you help us understand the nature of your work? You were 'shielding primary pipes'. Can you help me understand?
I'm so sorry.
Aloha.

Well, so much for the theory that hiding your dosimeter in a lead case reduces your exposure. One guy drops, it's coincidence. When two or more drop, it's criminal.

Dear Fred,
I hear you.
Aloha.

BUT..the (shielded with Lead) dosimeters said 'no exposure to radiation' — so how do the medical doctors explain radiation sickness of the workers..

Fukushima Non-Tepco Staff Dislike Work Conditions, Survey Shows
Most workers hired to help cleanup the wrecked Fukushima nuclear plant are unhappy with the working environment, citing insufficient radiation protection poor food, sanitary and transport conditions.
Sixty nine percent of respondents surveyed by Tokyo Electric Power Co., the operator of the Fukushima Dai-Ichi station, complained about food, while 62 percent aren’t happy with radiation protection, the company known as Tepco said in a statement. Tepco had responses from 1,913 workers at the plant, excluding its own employees, in the survey conducted in May.

I was curious what the Japanese original of "altered consciousness" was; a literal tranlation is still confusing because the Japanese is: it says "a light impairment (literally "blockage/damage" or "damaging blockage") of consciousness." Using the kanji 害 means an injury occurred, so it's not like they "smoked" some radiation and "came down" a few hours later after their consciousness was altered. This was injurious.
It's interesting that these workers had the same effect from the radiation that those in charge of this disaster want to effect on all of us, blockage and damage of our consciousness.
