Wall St. Journal: They don’t know where Fukushima’s melted fuel cores are, or in what state — Expert: “It’s important to think of worst-case scenario”… Even greater levels of contamination may be on the way — Plant “built on a river”

Title: Japan Races to Contain Worst Fukushima Spill Since Meltdown
Source: Wall St Journal
Author: Phred Dvorak
Date: Aug 22, 2013

[…] Tepco said it doesn’t think that water has flowed into the sea but can’t say for sure. Some of the flooded reactor basements are similarly too hot to approach, and it is still not clear where the melted fuel cores are, or in what state.

“In the future there might be even more heavily contaminated water coming through,” said Atsunao Marui, head of the groundwater research group at Japan’s National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology and a member of a blue-ribbon panel set up in May to figure out ways of managing the radioactive water. “It’s important to think of the worst-case scenario.”

Mr. Marui and others say the biggest reason for the scramble now is that Tepco—and the government bodies that oversee it—weren’t planning far enough ahead and waited too long to respond to problems they should have seen coming long ago.

Fukushima Daiichi was built some 40 years ago on the site of a river that was diverted in order to situate the plant, Mr. Marui says. It should have been clear that lots of groundwater would be rushing through the site, he says, and that any walls or barriers built on the seaward side would soon be overwhelmed—something that, indeed, has happened in recent weeks. Water leaks are not the only problem. That's just one problem in a long line of "Dominoes" in which any one of them can can cause the end of all life on earth. If any one event causes the Fukushima site to be evacuated then all the Dominoes fall. All 7 spent fuel pools will overheat and burn. Reactors 5 & 6 will melt down and maybe exploded. Most of the fallout will head east and circle the northern hemisphere but occasionally a weather patters will blow towards Tokyo or Seoul Korea and cause mass panic. But where will they run to. Argentina will be safer for a while but they will quickly close there borders to all but the super rich. Eventually the southern hemisphere will also be contaminated because once the dominoes fall and the pools start to burn it just keep going and going. Fukushima Daini is only 10km south of Fukushima Daiichi with 4 more reactors and 5 more Spent fuel pools. If all the Dominoes fall at Daiichi then Daini will have to evacuated too. Thats 9 more Dominoes. Like the EverReady Bunny of death it keeps going and going and going………InfoPest.

"Fukushima Daiichi was built some 40 years ago on the site of a river that was diverted in order to situate the plant."
So TEPCO built a nuclear power plant over a known fault,
      Over a river,
      On an aquifer,
      On the Pacific Ocean.
      Right?

And now, TEPCO doesn't have any idea…
      Why has all this happened?
What should be done about it?
Why does control of the situation seem to be just beyond our grasp?
Why does control of the situation seem to be slipping away?

But the entire world now demands to know, TEPCO:

      WHERE IS THE DAMN CORIUM?

IF YOU STILL MAINTAIN THE CORIUN REMAINS WITHIN THE RUINS, PROVE IT!

IF THE CORIUM IS IN NATURE, WHERE IS THE CORIUM?

        A river?
        Right over a river?
        A RIVER?!!!

        • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

          Yes a RIVER!

Now I know the Nuke Design Manual specifically stated to seek out and build only on river beds that sit directly on and right over fault lines.

These are always the best places/locations to build these massive Nuclear Power Plants!

          Bobby!
          What?
          Your welcomed!

WE as a people MUST stop nuclear energy NOW! The nuke industry has proven incapable of honestly managing or mitigating any type of accident; from Hanford ,WA. USA to Fukushima dai'ichi. We are just 1 laissez-fair-style management choice from one or a thousand nuclear disasters. Regulatory agencies have proven to enable this type of mismanagement…

How many people have to die, or live horrible lives, before these evil nukester-deathmachines are shut-down worldwide?

    • Cisco Cisco

Proton…"How many people have to die, or live horrible lives, before these evil nukester-deathmachines are shut-down worldwide?"

10 years from the date the Daiichi NP catches fire, 2 billion dead, 2 1/2 billion dying and another billion very sick. The rest will be wearing loin clothes and toting spears. Those that are left won't be feeling too good either.

That's how many people have to die, and they will. Then, the only nuclear power will be the radiation in the sea and in the atmosphere killing what other biological systems are left.

  • TheBigPicture TheBigPicture

It's a world problem, and proof that nuclear energy is a total waste. Man-made nuclear technology is ruining the earth, and they can't stop it. At all.

  • domjox domjox

Wow, in trying to infer what was really being said, I am reading that now there ia an underground river flowing directly into the sea. Happly gathering all that highly comtaminated carp along with it.
I also am wondering if we will informed soon that the coriums are smack dab in the middle of this, uh, river.

  • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

You have it and you will not be informed until your blood is spurting from your own eyes.

Then they will have no choice but to then inform you there is a "potential" problem.

We just do not know why the blood is coming/spurting from your eyes Bobby.

    Bobby!
    What?
Here take this pill and come back in a week
    Yes Doc!
    Bobby!
    What Doc?
Here, take these paper towels and goggles with you. Stop at the nurses station for instructions!
    Thanks Doc!
Wow, this place is great and I even get to take some equipment home with me. This is value!

She must be preparing for the worse or maybe she is sitting in a very dark room with a single bright light and now under some form of water boarding interrogation program and/or maybe some type of re-indoctrination program. Pretty sure they are one and the same..

I don't think Patty is a "real whistleblower", because if she was she would either have a jail cell next to Manning, be in Russia with Snowden, or at the embassy with Assange.

      • obewanspeaks obewanspeaks

Then you think she is a purposeful diversion?

        • newsblackoutUSA newsblackoutUSA

I have no idea, I think there are so many cooks coming out of the woodwork, stirring the Fukushima soup, that it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Everyone is suddenly the expert and in the know. My question is, where have they been the last 2.5 years? The believability factor about them would be much higher for me have they gone on TV in 4/2011 and said "We're in deep sh*$ folks". Maybe she is more of an opportunist.

Tepco and the government were not planning far enough ahead and waiting to long to respond to problems, as far a I have observed there response has been dismal to nonexistent and disgraceful in many counts.
We know that there is no fix and we can only mitigate this accident, no matter what but, the magnitude of this accident compels you to respond appropriately, you have not and as for the people you have failed to protect, I would think that this is not going to be good for your future prospects in business or politics.

actually the producer of these analysis has scientific evidence submissible in any court in this country..the Hague..the International Criminal Court…and many others….
He chooses to present the material in this way.

Ear analysis is only form of identification recognized by legal system besides DNA, which of course requires the participation of the person in question…

in order for you to refute his work you would have to publish your own peer reviewed authority on the subject…
probably you wouldn't have time for that….

Its not conspiracy it's fact……but almost impossible to accept.
